Exceptionally friendly staff. Tables were nicely spaced out. We had the tasting menu and it was AMAZING and very filling. Plenty of parking outside. Although bar was busy when we first walked in, the lovely girl behind the bar served everyone very quickly, constantly apologised and smiled the whole time! Can't wait to return.

`A pleasure to return to the Waggoners after several years absence, everything was as good as we remembered the set menu had plenty of choices and was excellently prepared and served. We won't leave it so long before we are back.

Always a pleasure to dine at the Waggoners. Service is efficient and friendly, but the food is the star - out of this world, truly mouth-wateringly good. Great menu, good selection of wines, so what more could you want.

Quiet in the restaurant due to the England match however we’ve eaten here several times over the years but not recently - the wine tasting menu was lovely as was the wine choices
No complaints at all and will be back

We have been here a couple of times now but my boyfriend always wanted to try the taster menu so we went recently for his bday & had the taster menu.....LOVELY!!! Food was tasty, the wines with each dish were very good (& I’m fussy). Will most definitely be going back. Staff were brilliant, announcing each dish as it comes out. Make sure you book in advance...can be difficult to get a table!

We ordered starters of crab terrine & watermelon & goats cheese salad, both delicious. As was the main course steak. Bit disappointed with the tofu as I prefer it crispy rather than soggy. Service friendly & attentive.

The Waggoners has been a family favourite of ours for some time and never fails to deliver a high standard of French cuisine. Laurent and his staff are all very attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend this restaurant

The Waggoners is tucked away in a lovely little village (so follow the sat nav!). The food was very good, steaks and fish dishes cooked very well and the starters were excellent. The menu is small but there is something for everyone. The wine was well priced and also of a high quality. We were a little late (should have followed the sat nav) but they were very accommodating, the service was attentive, and even though we were last to leave we didn't feel pressured to clear out! The number of different areas in the old building meant that noise didn't travel so there was a gentle hum rather than dinner being swamped by music and background chatter.

We were made very welcome for my father's 93rd birthday celebration. The food and wine were lovely and the service was attentive without us feeling pressured. A very enjoyable lunch.

Very nice tasting menu with wines. The only gripe I would have is that service was a bit rushed, meaning that the next wine would arrive when we still had half a glass left from the previous course. Still a lovely evening and I would happily return.

We had 4 fillets - they were excellent, as were the starters. The crepe suzettes were also great, flambed at the table.

Lovely place and food. Only downfall was the apple tart which wasn’t very nice, very thin pastry with dry chewy skinny apple slices. Wasn’t nice and expensive at £7. Three of us ordered it and agreed. Didn’t complain as wasn’t burnt or anything. One had creme brûlée and it was good. Fab steak. Best I’ve had in years.

We had a great evening on saturday .The food was delicious (even though the duck arrived a little on the tepid side ) and the service delightful . The joy of smaller rooms is the sense of intimacy engendered as long as the neighbouring table does not have a guest with a very loud laugh ! we took friends for the first time and they loved it as much as we do . This restaurant is an absolute gem .

We had a Groupon deal so happy with £27 for two steak dinners. Service was excellent. Restaurant is dated and needs brightening up as the little section we were in was dark and dull. Some background music would be nice and the main menu needs bringing into the modern day. Food was also excellent quality.

Visited this location as I wanted somewhere quiet and friendly to catch up with an old friend I hadn't seen in over a year. The venue was perfect for this, a typical country pub set up, great service, great food at very reasonable prices. Never rushed which as perfect for the long discussions we had over the excellent food and great wine. Only drawback is that it is very close to the A1 and would likely be noisy in the summer if you wished to sit outside.

A lovely spot.
Old English feel although French influence felt in atmosphere and quality service.

A good choice of wine and food far exceeds the usual local pub fair.

I would go back.
