The Weighbridge Brewhouse
PLEASE BE AWARE ANY WEEKDAY BOOKINGS, LUNCHTIME OR EVENING THROUGHOUT DECEMBER CANNOT BE MADE ONLINE.
Best Restaurant in Swindon - Food, service and ambience were all excellent, the sharing boards are amazing especially the Seafood starter and the Chateaubriand, Cheese Trolley to finish is the best !! Brilliant music also, a young man singing and playing the guitar which complimented the setting perfectly, can’t wait to go again !!
Unfortunately the service was VERY slow, in there over 3 hours and it wasn’t even particularly busy. Had to go off to find a member of staff on 2 separate occasions to request dessert Menus etc after nobody came with back with them. The mains were over priced for what we were presented with. Watery sauce, the dauphinois didn’t show any evidence of cream, garlic etc. Just plain and very dry potatoes. The meat was cooked nicely but everything else was no where near the standard you’d expect from the weighbridge. Shame.
Excellent quality and reasonable price. The portion size was very good too. Definitely recommended.
Fantastic food, and the service was okay. We spent a lot of time waiting for food. The food was great, well cooked so there cannot be no complaints there.
The only real complaint that I have was the live music. It was SO loud, we were sat close the bar the bar, and I found myself at times unable to think let alone hear other people on the table due to the music. It was so loud you couldn’t even hear what they were singing.
I am all for live music, but it had no need to be that loud. It put a bit of downer on the evening to be honest.
Great environment and atmosphere. Staff were ver attentive.
We went for breakfast for was very nice except no mushrooms and fruit juice was meant to be part of price was given large glass and charged for it
Also they were hovering and mopping floors and dragging chairs to clean under while we were eating shouldn’t be only until all finished not a pleasant experience
Won’t go back a gain until they sort this out
Everything was lovely from the food to the live music
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely romantic meal at the Weighbridge, which is under new management. We arrived to hear a harpist, who played beautifully all evening - apparently musicians regularly play in the evenings. A lot of effort has been put into the décor. Service was really friendly and helpful, and our meals were nicely cooked and tasty. The choice of wines is well thought out too. We'll be going back soon.
We were celebrating two family birthdays on the day of our visit! An 18th and a 21st! We had not visited the Weighbridge for some time and had heard that it had changed hands and reviews had been mixed? I decided to take the plunge and make up our own minds. The ambience and decor were outstanding and very welcoming. We were greeted with warmth and made to feel at home immediately, as we were shown to one of the requested round tables in the restaurant, for our family of five. Both waitresses dealt with us beautifully, being very helpful, informative and polite. Everyone opted for steak dinners, to follow a shared seafood platter starter. We were not disappointed in our choices, as all the food was exceptional, washed down with two bottles of recommended wine. We finished off the meal with a brought chocolate cake, decorated for the occasion, and presented at our table by the both waitresses who sang "Happy Birthday|"! A perfect finish to a thoroughly enjoyable visit. Not for the last time....
Wonderful food in a lovely setting.
Our only disappointment was how long my husband had to wait for his cheese and biscuits. The cheese arrived about ten minutes after the other desserts had been served and there was a further wait of about five minutes for the biscuits. Otherwise, a fantastic experience.
We had a meal with the same couple we dined with on Saturday a few years ago and we vowed to go back. We wish we hadn't the service and experience is still spot on but the food was way below the standard we had before. Firstly dissapointed with the choices on the menu (nothing exciting) . The food served (duck and lamb )was quite tasteless. Disappointing at this price point, will not go there again...
Food quality very good, menu choice not great, service very poor
A nice atmosphere and the afternoon tea was lovely and was more than enough to eat and we was offered to take the left overs home .
Absolutely stunning food. The pumpkin soup will now be an obsession of mine - it was so deliciously creamy and full of flavour. Everything was perfect!
Booked a table online for my birthday, easy to book and nice table upon arrival.
They did give free nibbles for the table and a mini cake plate with ‘happy birthday’ on it which was a nice touch but the service although they were very lovely and courteous was quite slow. As we had been before we were looking forward to some specific dishes but soon realised they had changed ownership so the menu was completely different and quality of food didn’t quite match the prices. Still a lovely place but probably won’t go again for food
Another good meal. The food was very good and service was quick too.
6th year wedding anniversary, music was the wrong type of music for the setting from the live band, people getting up and dancing, clapping made it feel like we was at a pub with there behaviour, the drinks (mojito) didn't have the mint hit and could just taste the lime, the starter ( seafood platter) was amazing, my lamb was cooked perfectly, my wife's steak was tough, dauphinoise potatoes was undercooked, we didn't stay for dessert and coffee.
It was my birthday (tho was not booked as such)... everything was lovely staff were also lovely venue is perfect ... the only fault were the steaks we ordered ... they were so tough we were unable to eat them ... we chose flat iron steak as we hadn’t ever seen that cut before... we wont be trying ever again !! We will however definitely eat at the weighbridge again as everything else was spot on 👍👍👍🤗
The foot we could not fault also the service would go again
We were a party of 4, celebrating 3 birthdays. The Weighbridge has been the go-to venue for occasions in the past and we were encouraged to book again by the updated decor and new look menu. Our choice of starter was a sharing baked Camembert - a real disappointment because it lacked any flavour. Two of us chose mussels for the main course and they were very good but our other friends sent back their mains as the dishes were tough and tasteless - including an under cooked veggie curry. They were given replacements but once again the meat was tough which the supervisor blamed on the cut of meat (so why serve it?). The duty supervisor discounted the starter from the bill which was appreciated but given the overall disappointment with the whole meal this will be the last time we visit and I really wouldn't recommend it.
Loved coming here over the years, food portions have halved but prices are the same. Went during the week bill came to over £70 would of felt more full up going to mc d. Duck was really chewy and potatoes was dry, lobster what lobster was no meat in the shell
Lovely meal but disappointed that it was only the Sunday menu available and not the full menu which is on line. I would of not booked if I knew this beforehand.
The food was really good, the staff were nice and a great help and the overall atmosphere was amazing
Fab food and great service. They even had a vegan dessert option!
Myself and my partner attended on the evening of Saturday 14th September for a long awaited date night. We arrived a hour before our table booking to sit outside in the lovely seating area and have a few cocktails. The bar attendant was lovely and welcoming, cocktails were brought out to the table and service was fabulous. In the background we could hear the live pianist which was a bonus! When it was finally time for dinner we were seated promptly and requested a jug of water; unfortunately this is where service started to go down hill. The water never arrived. About 15 mins after seating, a waitress finally came to take our order, we ordered a sharing camembert, the weighbridge burger and the duck breasts with a few extra sides. At that point I highlight that our jug of water had not arrived and also placed another drinks order in case service continued to be slow. Approximately a few mins later, some complimentary bread arrived, later our drinks followed (without glasses for our water - which I had to highlight to another waitress).
The camembert was lovely when it arrived, however being nosey and expecting to see a locally sourced farmed cheese, I was surprised to see “ASDA” written on the bottom on the camembert package, for £12 I have to admit I was a little taken back! “Locally sourced” as advertised on the menu, was indeed, very local.
After the starter we waited approx 45 mins for our mains to arrive. These were delicious, although one of the sides were missing, which was rectified. There was no fault whatsoever in the quality of food, it was delicious, however we felt very let down by how slow the service was and how an Asda camembert can be priced at £12! We will be returning, as we loved the food and the ambiance; however there are a few question marks surrounding service and where food is sourced from.
This is an excellent restaurant, great service and great food.
Lovely food and exceptional service. I had the steak that was cooked to perfection and my husband enjoyed his lobster.
Good meal and ambience for groups. Service was good and food good value
Excellent atmosphere and an enjoyable meal. Thanks to all the staff.
A very expensive experience, the food didn’t justify the prices, I’ve had much better at a lower price and the new owners have stamped their mark on the building and it isn’t to my taste....that’s why I wouldn’t recommend it..
Reduce the prices or up the quality...!
Excellent food, great atmostphere and great service!
The food was very nice. But would recommend NOT to use frozen roast potatoes, and roast your own. This would have given me a 5* experience.
My sunday dinner was one of the worst meals I've ever tasted at the weighbridge in many years,
The yorkshire pudding was burnt,The beef was so bad i had too cut out all the fat and gristle from it.
Even the vegetables was too over powering in garlic. Why ???.
But one thing i will say They will not give me a refund or a free meal,Very poor cooking skills in the kitchen.
The Sunday dinner started off great, we arrived at approximately 1pm as I had booked online and we were shown to our table by a very friendly lady who passed us the menus and quickly took our drinks orders.
We ordered lamb ribs, and mussels to start, took around 25 mins to come out the issues started after that really: we had two finger bowls to share between us - got very messy as you can imagine. - Mussels were lovely however.
We had to wait for up to 15 minutes for the starters be cleared after we finished. - Also the drinks we ordered came with our starters and the coke was flat so we had to get these replaced.
Now for the real let down: When our plates were cleared away We ordered 1 sharing platter ( the supplement upgrade price for this was a bit much we felt but thought we would give it a go) 2x lamb Sunday dinners and 1 x beef dinner. including side dishes etc. stated on menu. Like others have mentioned in past reviews Compared to other places in Swindon we thought this to be very expensive for some items so expected it to be of very high quality.
20 minutes later our food then showed up. we ordered beef medium well which was pink - my Friend was having to spit the beef into a napkin as he tried to eat his meal without making us feel bad as we booked the restaurant... My partner ordered his platter and the meat was burned and the all our Yorkshires were like caramelised foam wafers. The lamb dishes was mainly fat but was wasn't as tough as the beef. The potatoes we ordered were also undercooked and we only had a few between us.
We had to waiter check on us at any point during the meal and no one was around for us to call over. We couldn’t even get a waiters attention to send it back, I thought about getting up and going to the bar where they were all standing but when i moved and stood up someone finally came over and we decided we had enough.
I have placed my full review on TripAdvisor already as we were so disappointed with our visit.
Good food and great customer service really enjoyed their beer nice location well organised
Excellent location, food great and service was spot on.
It's been a while since I dined at the Weighbridge & I'm sorry to say I will not be returning any time soon. As it was Sunday I opted for a roast (lamb) which was accompanied by vegetables which were dressed in butter & wild garlic. Now this was fine for me but my dining companion does not like buttered veg or garlic. All the roast options came with this side, so my fellow diner had to forego a roast & had a burger. The food was ok, I've had alot better. My friends burger seemed to produce alot of liquid (??) when bitten into, so much so, that we had to ask for a paper napkin to soak it up! As I said previously I wont be rushing back, which is a shame because it used to be a good restaurant.
The Weighbridge used to be very good up until about 18 months ago when it seems to have lost its way. My wife and I would call in on a Friday afternoon for a drink and there were never any crisps. Then when she was going to organise a girl's nightout she was told the reviews were dire. Fast forward to a month or so ago and the view was that things had improved and they have.
The menu is very good and the dishes we had were very good too. We will certainly be going back. The astroturf outside was really enjoyable in this warm weather and the staff were pleasant. The service could be little faster but I am an impatient old sod. Keep up the good work.
I would recommend lovely place to go for special occasions, quite peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Staff very attentive and looked after us very well for refreshments.
Excellent food, quality was very good and great value.
The restaurant very tidy, quiet even though it was a busy Sunday lunch .
