At The West House, you'll get a warm welcome; unobtrusive, but friendly and knowledgeable service. Excellent food, well prepared, and an extensive wine list, puts the icing on the cake!
Great food, great atmosphere would definitely go back and recommend for a special occasion. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
A great first experience at The West House. A fantastic 7 course menu that was judged well - so just enough to fill you up but not too much :)
Service was great and whilst the ambience understandably slightly down on what one would normally expect due to social distancing still a lovely night out.
Amazing food in comfortable, non- pretentious surroundings.
we visit here two or three times a year and has always been an excellent experience.
service friendly and the food is always great. highly recommended.
Outstanding quality of food in a very beautiful taster menu. Extremely beautiful ingredients cooked to perfection.
I’ve been to the west house many times but not for a few years and I would consider it to be my favourite restaurant I’ve been too and I have eaten at many Michelin star and nice restaurants. This time was the worst as the food was still good but nowhere near the quality of how I remember it was expensive for a set lunch and I ordered a cider expecting a decent amount of drink only for a wine glass with the amount of cider less than my friends wine in his wine glass the cider was nice but weird amount given to me. Overall I know the west house can be fantastic at its best but on this occasion while still good it wasn’t at its best
A gem! Superb food in a relaxed and friendly environment. Graham Garrett is one of the best chefs in the country. The food is consistently delicious!
Great meal well balanced and oh so tasty. Lovely place with lovely people all in all a fabulous meal and will be going back.
Excellent food, attentive service and a warm ambience. Would not hesitate to recommend; incredibly refreshing to see such high quality food in rural Kent. My wife and I will certainly be returning.
Lovely restaurant with excellent food and relaxed and friendly service. Would strongly recommend.
Delicious as always and excellent service
Would highly recommend
Best food we have ever had, outstanding would highly recommend to our friends
Delicious food. Beautifully presented. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Surprise birthday cake with a candle was a thoughtful touch. Thank you.
A very friendly, relaxed, happy place to eat. The new multi-course set menu worked well and all courses were delicious (we will try the sautéed gnocchi at home). The covid measures did not impinge on the overall experience and it felt safe.
Great food and really beautifully presented and served. This is good cooking though, not all tricks and theatre, but go to enjoy getting away from it all for a bit!
Absolutely perfect. Our favourite restaurant ever. Visited Sunday and had full menu which was extraordinary. Booked for two weeks later before leaving. Love, love, love the place.
Lovely 7 course tasting menu. I had the vegetarian and my partner the meat. All dishes well balanced and fusing interesting flavour combinations.
We treated ourselves to a nice bottle of wine to accompany the meal as it was a belated birthday gift for myself. The staff were super friendly, attentive and explained each dish superbly. My boyfriend absolutely loved their homemade butter too ☺️
Go support this family run small business after COVID. Very lovely evening so thank you to all the whole team x
I've been a regular diner at The West House over many years, and can safely say this was the best meal ever.
The cuisine at the West House is outstanding, with a very delicious, well constructed menu. The dish of curried vegetables with the Kale Pakora was one of the very best we have tasted.
The Service was attentive and in these difficult times the team worked hard to manage the social distancing and maintain very high standards of hygiene very well.
In our opinion, the fact that the restaurant was fully booked is a greater testament to the cuisine and the high standard from the kitchen, rather than the overall feeling of warmth of welcome, ambience and value.
We were somewhat disappointed by the ‘ambience’ and decorative order. In particular, the tables, without cloths, felt very austere and ‘café like’. For some reason, the water jug was either leaking or dripping on to the table and we needed to ask for it to be ‘mopped up’ several times.
On a positive note, it was a delight and pleasure to have the food served on well designed, beautifully hand crafted crockery.
We were impressed by the excellent wine list, with a wide selection of fine wine by the glass.
Overall, on balance, we felt that the cost of £55 each for the set lunch ( with its four ‘tasting portions’) plus three glasses of wine and a service charge of 12.5% making a total bill of £150 for two was not the best value we have had lately, despite the food being very delicious.
We hope that the hardworking family team at the West House will be encouraged, especially in the difficult climate of the Covid crisis, by our positive observations and accept the gentle criticism of our comments in the constructive spirit with which they are offered.
Once again a great meal with great service. The food was well up to the normal standard of this establishment and it was super to See the restaurant open again. Well done to all the staff.
Excellent food. A bit thrown initially by the switch to a tasting menu with no choices since our last visit. The on,y drawback was the excessive heat - but the restaurant is not responsible for the weather!
The scaffolding has been removed and The West House now stands out again on Biddenden's main street - as does Graham Garrett's cooking. PerM
Set menu atm due to Covid. Starter of venison tartar not to everyone's taste in the restaurant overhearing comments. Rest of the menu excellent the presentation was 1st class service friendly informative but not over attentive. Ambience good. Food of good fresh quality
What an absolute delight the West House is open again, we had an excellent lunch, the format is a little different, it is a set menu and for us that was so easy, instead of trying to choose - it was a four course meal and each course was excellent. Can't wait to visit again.
Fab food and service
As always expected a very pleasant atmosphere, a genuine welcome from the proprietors and an excellent dinner. The 7 course tasting menu was superbly constructed and well cooked, to say nothing of the portion sizes and quality of the ingredients.
We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our village. A short walk for us. Hope they reintroduce the full menu soon, as we would not have chosen the “taster” menu ordinarily. Still very nice.
So pleased my a favourite restaurant has reopened following the enforced closure due to Coronavirus. Excellent as always, the food is perfection. The service is attentive, polite and friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant is comfortable with unobtrusive music playing in the background. I Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Excellent food and friendly service, great atmosphere. Recommend it.
Birthday meal for four, welcome, service, food wine ALL top class.
Will be back
The West house has its own view of how things should be done and this may not please everyone ,but for me, it is always a treat to be allowed to eat at this outstanding restaurant . I have been coming to West house for some years now and it is always impressive that they manage to maintain such a consistently high standard of food and service . If you want an example of fine cuisine , then this is as good as it gets in Kent .
Simply put, the best food and restaurant in Kent . The service and general ambiance is spot on. The food is incredible, a must go to venue .
Took my dad for his 60th birthday . Food was absolutely stunning , service was outstanding . Will definitely be back
Excellent food and friendly service. I Would go again, so would family.
Went to the West House for a celebratory anniversary meal. It's a great venue for a special occasion as it's pretty price. You do feel like you've had a really special evening though as the food, service and ambiance are all great.
food was amazing like last time but this time we had full experience 6 course meal with vine
and it was amazing
As always, the quality of food was fabulous and service was great.
Outstanding food, just vibe and decor a bit lack lustre
Incredible. Such a special birthday treat. The food was delectable and the attention to detail was outstanding. Each portion was substantial and not your usual fancy food mouthful. Friendly service and lovely atmosphere without any air of pretentiousness for such fine dining. Highly recommend a visit! Can’t wait to return.
