Very average food and service. Much worse experience than our previous visits. Made to feel guilty by less-than-helpful staff when we had send various items back (terrible cocktails, cold steak) and had to chase up missing veg side order that eventually arrived when we’d almost finished our main courses - and when it came, it was a small, shallow creme brûlée-style dish with a very small portion of cabbage which was terrible value for money. Extremely disappointing and definitely won’t be rushing back.
What a fantastic evening! First, complements to the entire staff - from the Maitre D, to the bartenders, to the servers - everyone displayed excellent customer service and were the complete professionals. It is rare to find anywhere that has across the board good service without exception and that says so much about how a place is run. And our first request was not easy - we had a reservation for 4 after a day of transatlantic travel and our family from harrogate wanted to join us last minute - making our reservation for 9. The West Park accommodated is without issue and with a smile. We were grateful. The cocktails were excellent and the meal itself was wonderful - everyone enjoyed their dishes. Mezza share plate, fresh farmhouse bread. We loved the sea bass, duck, steak and the kids loved the burgers and sausages. Great meal, great decor/atmosphere and great night at the West Park. We will definitely be back!
Lovely restaurant, excellent food, friendly, helpful staff.
good food and good pleasant service. Relaxing and not at all rushed. No loud music so we were able to chat with friends. This was our first visit we will certainly return.
Very nice dinner in a casual but modern dining room-with dogs ! Enjoyed the salmon fillet and a lovely cocktail.
We all found the food excellent but the service was a bit hit and miss - sometimes good, but not always. We found the noise level excessive but our friends thought it added to the atmosphere. £6.10 for a g&t was totally ott!
Chateau Briand very good. Wine excellent. Location is nice.
Outstanding as always, food, service and location all make it my favorite place
Great sharing platter for 3 to start and on a cold snowy evening the 3 of us opted for fish and chips which were very good .
The service was excellent , friendly and efficient .
Great place for a get together with Fantastic food and good service
Very good service - excellent brunch - pleasant atmosphere
We should have not been concerned about some of the service reviews – the staff were attentive with managers also checking, the food was first class. Brilliant birthday.
Lovely friendly staff excellent service , head Waiter helping everyone.
I was the first to arrive from our group. I was asked to wait by the bar. I had a toddler with me and she was happy running up and down. Once others arrived I had to find someone to show us to our table.
We ordered our food. Two children’s meals and 4 Sunday roasts. I ordered the soup for my toddler. We had to ask at least 4 times for her soup and when it finally came, I had to ask for bread. By the time her food came we had given her bits of our food, so she no longer wanted it.
One of the roasts was cold. When it came back it was missing a Yorkshire pudding and we had to ask for it. The pork was meant to have crackling, but it was soft and not what was expected. The beef was tasty, but had a lot of fat.
We then decided to order puddings, however after waiting 20 minuets, the children were getting restless and we had to cancel the order.
The front of house were apologetic, and reduced the bill and gave a gift card for any future visit. I just think that they should have had better communication with the kitchen, rather than us having to ask multiple times for a child’s soup.
The food was superb and fairly priced for what it was. However, abhorrent service (being made to wait ten minutes for a table that was ready the whole time) seemed to put a dampener on the evening. I will be returning but would hope for better service next time.
Excellent meal enjoyed the choice helpful friendly staff an alround good experience.
Good food, great service. Went with open mind and all four of us ended up on the early bird menu, which was plentiful.
Food was lovely, howeverthe front of house needs work. Very unwelcoming and rude staff on reception, but waitress was charming.
lot's to choose from was hard choose ...great service not rushed... had time to enjoy the food and the lovely bottle of wine we had...pitty we were visiting harrogate ...would love to make a return visit ....
just a little disappointed to be asked to pay £5 for a few extra yorkshire's with our sunday lunch!!
We had a lovely evening with our guests from a London. Not knowing much about West Park other than the refurbishment of the hotel which it has recently undergone, the ambience the food, and the staff were fantastic and a big thumbs up to Brogan who looked after us. We will defiantly be going back again with other relatives and friends.
Fantastic place to just relax and enjoy the surroundings
My husband, myself and daughter booked our Boxing Day lunch a few days before. When we arrived we were kept waiting whilst the hostess and three staff were chatting out of sight. Eventually a waitress clearing tables greeted us. Our food arrived and it was cold. The fresh food came out 15 mins later and it was warm. The restaurant manager came over to take our desert order. When told about the food being cold he said “ That’s not acceptable and I will shout at the Chef!”. We finished our meal and left with no apology or any acknowledgement of poor service. Not what is expected from a restraunt that displays numerous accolades for culinary excellence !!
Christmas Eve treat from husband - booked for 4:30pm to stop cooking and start relaxing and enjoying Christmas. Worked really well. We had a nice drink and some nice fish before the Christmas Day meat feast. I had the fish platter starter as a main and they were cool with that.
Service was a bit haphazard (we had 3 waiters who weren’t co-ordinaring) but it was Christmas Eve and they were super busy. You gotta love West Park. Go try it!
Having previously enjoyed breakfast and afternoon tea at the West Park, we chose it for our Christmas meal with friends. Although the food was good (once it arrived) the service was very poor. To be fair, once my husband had spoken to the duty manager she handled it very well with much improved service and a reduction to the bill but that's hardly the point. We were left feeling that we owed our friends an apology as it was our choice of restaurant. I doubt that we'll be going again.
Superb ambiance and service. Food is always excellent. A simple menu with great quality options
Return visit to restaurant and again was not disappointed. Starter was the seafood sharing platter which is a generous portion. I had sirloin steak for the main which if I'm being really picky was a little overdone but not enough to spoil the meal, the peppercorn sauce was delicious. My partner had the rib-eye and this was cooked exactly right, he chose the bernaise sauce which again was delicious. A special mention to our waitress Brogan who was great; professional and friendly. A little quiet as it was a Sunday night but overall a lovely night.
Very friendly team. Fantastic value for Sunday lunch . Barman even did magic for the kids . Thank you west park for the fabtastic Sunday lunch.
We were a party of 3 and each of us had a bagel ( 2 with salmon the other was a special). The bagel was very very poor - very dense. We were later meeting than we had hoped to be and could not face the hassle of sending the food back
Manageress was rude and messed up our order. Instead of apologising she rolled her eyes as though it was the waitresses fault. Two meals where sent out then we had to wait near to 10 minuets for the other two.
Slight problem with service, drinks ordered but not delivered, this happened twice. Sorted quickly and efficiently by Adam. Other serving staff members not very friendly.
Made very welcome very relaxed atmosphere staff spoke to you and gave their full attention nothing was too much trouble very well done WEST PARK will certinly be going back
The staff were very patient with us as, typical women, we took forever to sort out the bill! The food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back again.
Very friendly staff who were really happy to help. Food was very good and we were given a small appetizer before our meal was served. Would recommend.
Excellent. Good menu selection, attentive service, lovely window table. We have booked again already.
A regular haunt as a Harrogate local. Lovely setting with the Stray opposite. Always immaculately clean with fantastic service. Food is great quality, straightforward. Excellent fish and chips, steak etc. Fantastic desserts and cocktails. Great atmosphere for a date, but equally was a lovely place for early doors dining with elderly mother.
Great Sunday lunch and excellent value for money. I have dined several times and not been disappointed - also a really busy pleasant atmosphere.
Lovely venue, great attentive service & tasty food
I've eaten at the West Park twice before and had lovely fresh food so I decided to take my husband for his birthday. Unfortunately the evening was a complete let-down. The food was very poor, nothing like I'd previously experienced. £9 for 2 scallops in a tasteless sauce, an uninspiring fish platter and venison so tough (venison, tough?!) I nearly gave up bothering to cut it. Our drinks order was incorrect and so was the bill. In fairness to our waiter, he dealt with it very well and took the drinks (two glasses of wine) off the final bill. We paid £72 for two very poor starters and main courses and had we also paid for the wine our bill would have been just under £100. Sorry West Park but you need to up your game.
