The Wheelwright's Arms
A lovely relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere and as always the food and staff were excellent!
Very nice food and great service
Fab service by Lucie as always 😊
Totally amazing food, completely exceeded my expectations, great value for money x
Food was delicious and the service from the whole team was great. My only and very small complaint was that I was very chilly and as someone who doesn't really feel the cold usually that surprised me. But lovely night and I will be back.
Fantastic 4th time in 2 years always fab food and service
Will be trying to come more often
Absolutely fantastic in every respect. Can't wait to go again. Thankyou lovely, welcoming staff & superb chef.
Lovely venue, delicious food and great atmosphere. We will be going back very soon.
This restaurant always delights. As a gluten free diner, often options are limited but there is a good menu here. Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere.
just lovely we always get a lovely meal; usually a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings get wine and fabulously friendly people....
great Good and service. Only criticism was the steak came rare not medium and was stringy but all other dishes went down really well.
I was really surprised by the quality and presentation of the food, would definitely return when in this area again.
Food always good, and service always with a smile.
Second time diners, used when we visit relatives in the area. Another lovely experience. The staff are friendly and attentive and there is a lovely ambiance. We had bread and olive to share followed by the mushroom and sweet potato in puff pastry with a really tasty mash and vegetables. Prices (for me) maybe a little on the expensive side but the quality was perfect and could not be faulted, so was definitely worth the money. Recommended.
Excellent food and super attentive staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Lovely romantic meal to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. The roast lamb next to the open fireplace with a cheeky bottle of red followed by a locally sourced cheese board highly recommended. Great service and ambiance. See you in the new year Neil & Jo x
We have been to the Wheelwright's Arms several times lately. The atmosphere is always very welcoming and the food has always been excellent.
The others in my party enjoyed theirs. We felt the children’s meals were quite expensive and too much for a 7 and 5 year old. I ordered the roast lamb. My first plate was cold and the lamb on the second plate toasted off. I returned it again and didn’t order anything else. Th waitress was polite and after the first meal was returned presumably the manager came and apologised but he didn’t bother the second time which was disappointing. He took my meal off the bill but nothing was offered as compensation. We won’t go again which is shame because it was a nice place.
The staff are lovely and helpful. Just a lovely place to go.
Food yummy and plentiful. Staff helpful and effective. Just right
As usual the service was excellent and the food was good.
Would be happy to recommend this pub
Music was loud and inappropriate for Sunday lunch.. when asked to remedy they cooperated..
Would highly recommend Sunday lunch
Food was gorgeous, service was spot on great value and portion sizes. Thoroughly enjoyed
Lovely food and friendly service. My friend was late but I didn't feel I couldn't sit alone and read while I was waiting. Have already booked again:)!
Fantastic food with even better service from Lucie - thank you 😊
The staff were outstanding very good, efficient and pleasant. However I was disappointed with the food, it could have been a lot better. I have been a few times to this pub and the food on this occasion was not up to standard. Particularly my steak dinner , it was barely warm and the steak was inedible, total gristle and it was extremely hard to cut even with the steak knife. Two of my other guests had steak and theirs was fine. However the staff handled my complaint very well. I have made two more bookings in the near future, hoping that this was just a blip.
Had early dinner before show at The Spring . Attentive service , good choice on menu and food was lovely. Small point but portion size was huge couldn’t manage it all .
Nice food a little over priced but would go back as its the old saying rather pay a little more as it tastes good .Service staff were lovely and helpful
Quite underwhelmed after all the glowing reports. The food was fine and edible but nothing to sing from the rooftops about. It certainly could have been hotter. Service was slow, went to bar to get drinks - told we’ll bring them over. 10 minutes later went back to bar - oh, yes, we’ll bring them, still a bit of a wait. The bar itself wasn’t busy. Beer is well kept but expensive - well above the average. I also found it quite cold, despite a fire being lit and had to keep my jacket on. Staff lovely and polite but overall it failed to impress.
The food was excellent, nicely cooked and full of flavour. We were placed at a,table ag the back of the bar which was good for privacy but after the main course we felt forgotten.
I had to get up and find someone for the dessert menus after waiting 30 mins, the bill and then to pay the bill. Would return but not if in a hurry!
Best Sunday roast around
Our first visit. Had a nice touch on arrival as had our name and happy anniversary plaque on table. Food was good although a little expensive for what you got . Was not asked how our food was during time we were eating , After clearing plates no mention of sweet menu or menus offered . Had to ask for them . Found service was slow and food was slow coming . Not sure whether we would revisit in near future .
Great food lovely wine
A fabulous meal...with excellent service. Happily recommend or return for a special occasion.
Hi i have been here before and it was lovely but it wasn't great on Wednesday. It started well we were met nicely and shown to our table but we didn't have a candle like others and were in the bar away from all they nicely lit tables. We ordered food and drinks with no problem, but we waited ages for a dessert menu and then went and asked. We ordered desserts but they took ages did we again asked at the bar and they appeared straight away. They weren't that hot but the worst thing was i had something oddly tasting in mine, like a leaf but it was really hard and the taste lasted ages and was horrid. My friend had a solid star ansiase in hers. Then we asked to pay the bill, no one came so again we went to the bar ourselves to settle up. It wasn't a great evening :-(
Great food for a get together with former colleagues. All getting a bit deaf so the background music intruded a little. Service cheerful and personable
I always enjoy going to the wheelwrights, the food is good and the service
The only thing I would say is some of the seat cushions in the dining area are very stained and dirty.
I know it's a pet friendly pub, but I think animals should be kept on the floor
Top quality food and excellent service.
Food arrived promptly and piping hot.
We all enjoyed our food and would gladly return.
My husband ordered the scallops as a starter. I have never seen such tiny scallops before and the dish was tasteless. I had the lamb which was adequate but the sauce and mash potato were quite tasteless and the cabbage was quite stringy. My son and daughter in law had the ham hock. My sons supposedly triple cooked chips were quite hard and a couple were actually raw but as we were out celebrating I did not want to make a fuss and upset the atmosphere of the evening. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming but the waitress wasn’t interested when I did mention about the scallops saying she didn’t eat them so she wouldn’t know
