The Wheelwright's Arms
Lovely meal, roast was lovely. I enjoyed the vegetarian option of sweet potato Wellington. Perhaps a few more veg options as my husband doesn't like honey carrots it parsnips.
I had steak pie , melted in the mouth, no fat on meat.
Maybe a little on the pricey side
Lovely meal excellent service will definitely return
Food was good apart from a small portion for the potato curry.
Staff need a shake up, had to ask for drinks 3 times. An expensive pub for what you get.
Really lovely friendly staff. So helpful. Absolutely delicious food. Will return.
Was very happy with our booking, service with a smile with great food at a great price.. Will be eating here again!
I always look forward to coming hear, food is always good, top restraint quality, service is impeccable no rushing and very helpful and friendly staff, and then there's the quirky things when you look around like the bike bilt in the sinks in the loo 😁👍👍
I am afraid that the meal was unremarkable and a bit pricey for what it contained. We all 3 had The Caribbean curry . Stodgy, and the garlic prawns were barley warm, and just laid on top . Not Brilliant.
The service was good and friendly.
Lovely staff, great good, easy parking, nice atmosphere with repeat custom. Very enjoyable thank you.
Mum loved her Birthday lunch - everything was delicious but the garlic prawns could have been presented a little better. They weren’t on the menu though so do appreciate we asked for an item usually added to other dishes rather than served on its own!
Always a treat! Great new wine list
My second visit to The Wheelright's Arms. First time was with friends and we ordered from the sharing menu which was excellent. However, Sunday roast on this visit was absolutely diabolical. Extremely poor/cheap produce, dry, bland and tasteless. The price £19.50-£22.50 per person was astronomical. Staff lazy and slow. Dirty table. Seriously folks, don't bother.
Group of five family members taking a midweek lunch. Really happy with the meals and service.
Great attentive service, managed to get a table before the lunchtime rush!
I have being going to the Wheelwright Arms regularly over the past year normally the food is excellent . Sadly last week it didn’t all quite live up to our expectations.
If the 4 out 4 were very satisfied with their starters. 2 with their fish & chips. The halibut was half a fillet tail end & only a few mouthfuls , the gnocchi was swimming in butter making it v oily & mushy . The vegetable curry was barely lukewarm both that & the cold dry jerk chicken bland & flavourless both of us disappointed. 3 of us ordered the crumble the fruit flavour totally overwhelmed with star anise & sugar barely any crumble topping making nearly £7 a portion v expensive.
This was our first visit to The Wheelwrights Arms, having been recommended by a friend. My children are dairy intolerant, and the staff were so helpful in recommending dishes they could have, and asked the chef when we queried one of the accompaniments. The food when it arrived was hot and tasty, and only the burger bun was left. The sweets, and ice cream was delicious and my children gave the evening a big thumbs up and asked when we were going again!
When booking online, there was no mention of it being a Burns night evening. As we are not that keen on the Scottish meal, it was a bit dissapointing, as we were looking forward to the main menu, but we will visit again at another time
We specifically went to the restaurant for burns night but could not find any details of when the burns menu would be available, we were too early and thus missed it. The food we had was nice just not what we really wanted.
A lovely relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere and as always the food and staff were excellent!
It was my birthday and had a birthday drink on the Wheelwrights. Will certainly go back again.
Very nice food and great service
Fab service by Lucie as always 😊
Totally amazing food, completely exceeded my expectations, great value for money x
Food was delicious and the service from the whole team was great. My only and very small complaint was that I was very chilly and as someone who doesn't really feel the cold usually that surprised me. But lovely night and I will be back.
Fantastic 4th time in 2 years always fab food and service
Will be trying to come more often
Absolutely fantastic in every respect. Can't wait to go again. Thankyou lovely, welcoming staff & superb chef.
Lovely venue, delicious food and great atmosphere. We will be going back very soon.
This restaurant always delights. As a gluten free diner, often options are limited but there is a good menu here. Excellent service and a lovely atmosphere.
just lovely we always get a lovely meal; usually a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings get wine and fabulously friendly people....
great Good and service. Only criticism was the steak came rare not medium and was stringy but all other dishes went down really well.
I was really surprised by the quality and presentation of the food, would definitely return when in this area again.
Food always good, and service always with a smile.
Second time diners, used when we visit relatives in the area. Another lovely experience. The staff are friendly and attentive and there is a lovely ambiance. We had bread and olive to share followed by the mushroom and sweet potato in puff pastry with a really tasty mash and vegetables. Prices (for me) maybe a little on the expensive side but the quality was perfect and could not be faulted, so was definitely worth the money. Recommended.
Excellent food and super attentive staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Lovely romantic meal to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. The roast lamb next to the open fireplace with a cheeky bottle of red followed by a locally sourced cheese board highly recommended. Great service and ambiance. See you in the new year Neil & Jo x
We have been to the Wheelwright's Arms several times lately. The atmosphere is always very welcoming and the food has always been excellent.
The others in my party enjoyed theirs. We felt the children’s meals were quite expensive and too much for a 7 and 5 year old. I ordered the roast lamb. My first plate was cold and the lamb on the second plate toasted off. I returned it again and didn’t order anything else. Th waitress was polite and after the first meal was returned presumably the manager came and apologised but he didn’t bother the second time which was disappointing. He took my meal off the bill but nothing was offered as compensation. We won’t go again which is shame because it was a nice place.
The staff are lovely and helpful. Just a lovely place to go.
Food yummy and plentiful. Staff helpful and effective. Just right
As usual the service was excellent and the food was good.
