The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.
Lovely relaxed evening, never hurried, excellent food and service, making for a very special evening
We had a fabulous meal and would definitely recommend it. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food was exquisite. We have moved house to the area and can walk to The White Hart and will definitely be returning.
Probably the best roast I have ever had at s pub/ restaurant. Very generous portions with a wide variety of well cooked veg and incredible beef
Wonderful Sunday Lunch as expected. Staff charming
The White Hart is tucked away in a little village off the motorway. It has a charming old world atmosphere, quite rustic. Food is carefully considered and tasty, I recommend the apple tart with liquorice ice cream.
Excellent all roubd, only very slightly marred by slow service taking dessert orders.
Beautiful pub, with loads of atmosphere, excellent food and value for money. Service exceptional.
We went for a business lunch as a group of 5. the food was fabulous and as a set lunch menu, exceptional value. Lovely old building. A little quiet at lunchtimes perhaps. We made our own entertainment between chats about the quality of the food.
Super food, a warm welcome and attentive staff.
Only thing to say is not cheap! But worth it
Amazing food, fantastic service, highly recommended, we will definitely be returning!
Pleasant surroundings with a nice warm feel. The food and service was second to none with an excellent choice of wines at affordable prices. I always recommend the White Hart to family and friends because I know they will never be disappointed.
My favourite place and the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. Excellent food and service but so relaxed
Lovely pub restaurant. 3 course Sunday lunch. Will definitely go back.
You will not find a better Sunday lunch. The roast beef is high quality and melts in the mouth. The pork belly is their signature dish and it is delicious; seasonal vegetables are either home grown or local; in fact most of the ingredients are locally produced. The Sunday lunch menu is competitively priced with two or three course option and there is a children’s option. Well behaved children are very welcome. Service is professional and friendly. The location has great ambiance. This is our favourite Oxfordshire restaurant for lunch and dinners.
Wow! We've been coming for years but this might have been our favourite meal yet. Yummy new dishes with gorgeous ingredients and lots of amazing creative twists on delicious classics. All accompanied with fabulous wine and easy-going, fun, knowledgeable service. Thank you all - can't wait for next time already!
Good menue, and good food.
Service and ambience very pleasant
Will come again.
We've been coming here for over 10 years now and our meal was excellent as ever. Thank you!
We visited The White Hart on Sunday 27th January with our son and his wife. Busy late lunchtime but lovely food, ambience and friendly helpful staff. Very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Hadn’t been for a while snd was reminded how lovely it is.
Went to the White Hart for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, the staff were fantastic- all very friendly and attentive, and you can’t beat it for value either.
Another excellent meal at the White Hart with great service and lovely ambience- can’t wait to come back again
Travel to meet up with friendsfamily and needed somewhere reasonably accessible from main A40. Found this in The Good Food Guide... it’s a real gem! Three courses of mainly locally sourced beautifully presented food Sunday lunchtime £29. The staff are outstanding, courteous, friendly, helpful knowing when attention is needed but standing back allowing space to relax in between. You need to book in advance, every time we have been every table has been occupied.
Some of dishes were not as flavourful as expected eg rhubarb cheesecake did not taste of rhubarb, Stilton panna cotta did not have enough Stilton flavour. Other dishes were excellent. Gents toilet facilities need upgrading.
We had an excellent Sunday lunch which was enjoyed by adults and children alike
Always excellent service and superb food. Never had a bad experience. The staff are welcoming and friendly without being in your face
Warm welcome, fab staff, amazing food and perfect location. Highly recommend
I chose this restaurant from a Tripadvisor review. The food was excellent as was the service and the actual location is stunning. Loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone.
We lunch and dine here regularly and have never been disappointed with any aspect of the experiences. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible and the chefs have the skills to create fine dishes. There are signature dishes that always tempt along wish newly created ones that tingle the tastebuds. The building provides the ambience and service is friendly as well as professional.
Can’t fault The White Hart.
Visited for family birthday celebration lunch and couldn’t have wished for a more successful visit in a relaxed atmosphere. When calling to add to the number initially booked online the response was friendly and helpful - as was the warm welcome on our arrival. The food was well-presented and delicious, and the occasion was made even more enjoyable by the excellent service (even though we were a large group and upstairs in a room on our own, which suited us very well). Hope very much to return before too long and certainly very happy to recommend.
The food was just excellent and the service was attentive but not intrusive. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Not cheap but a lovely place for a special night out.
We have been before and we will be going again.
Midweek lunch with a friend was lovely. Service was excellent with the staff attentive but not intrusive and the food (as always) was lovely. The set lunch menu is great value for money and always has something I want to eat on it.
Would definitely recommend The White Hart. Took my husband for an evening meal to celebrate his 70th birthday. We had a warm welcome and an enjoyable meal, along with a lovely bottle of red wine. Would have no problem going back there again.
Met our expectations where so many other so called “great food pub” haven’t.
We lunched there on Wednesday and again on Friday, both days very good indeed.
Certainly will return.
The White Hart made New Year's Day special due to the excellent service, food and surroundings. I would not hesitate to recommend the White Hart to friends and aquaintances to whom good food and service is important.
Over the past few years this has been a favourite place for a catch up lunch with friends. The quality of food and welcome has consistently pleased and makes the 50+ mile drive well worth it every time!
Never fails to deliver. We've been going to this restaurant for years and it's world class.
Alles was lekker , jammer als enige punt in de zaal.
Is blijven stilstaan in de tijd, vloer nodig gepoetst
En het bestek kan beter. ! Graag messen die snijden
The White Hart is a favourite venue - and a family treat - and again this time didn't disappoint.
The food is gorgeous, the wines good and reasonably priced, and the service friendly and efficient.
We enjoyed the meal greatly, and the single comment was that the pheasant breast (whilst delicious in itself) didn't come with very many accompanying vegetables - we would have appreciated knowing this at the time of ordering as we would have chosen a side dish to go with it.
But a very small quibble in an otherwise totally enjoyable experience - as usual.
This is the second time I have visited the White Hart and both times have been fantastic. The food is delicious. I am veggetarian and my partner is a meat eater and they cater for both well. While there was only one veggie choice it was really tasty and creative, and not the standard veggie choice you normally get served. The atmosphere and surroundings are lovely and the staff are also great.
Wonderful food, pleasant atmosphere, very good service, perhaps the best pub and definitely the best food in the area. One little thing: one member of our small group was allergic to nuts, which we mentioned, all was absolutely fine and taken care of except when the cappuccino arrived with a little white sweet bite with nuts. It was spotted and not eaten by the person with the
nut allergy so no dramas.
