The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.

Thank you again for a lovely dinner. We had a fantastic time. The setting was excellent, the ambiance just right, and the food perfect. Our added bonus was seeing Kay. We have managed to miss her latterly, but irrespectivly we have always been well looked after!
Excellent food - creative menu and all three courses delicious. Will come again for a special occasion
This was a favourite haunt when I lived in Oxford many years ago and so I chose it to host a colleague from our Indian operation who was visiting the UK office. It has hardly changed over the years keeping its charm and quintessentially British country pub ambience. The service was friendly and efficient. the food was excellent (and our colleague had his first experience of fish and chips!) and the environment was calm and relaxing.
Fantastic food, and made a birthday meal a very special event. Would highly recommend it.
We took some friends for a Sunday lunch, and these friends can be critical of 'perfect' restaurants. They enjoyed the restaurant and the food was faultless. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was one of comfort and the service was attentive without being overbearing and conversation was possible at a normal level. This is not only for special occasions, but a place where one can relax and enjoy the whole experience at a fairly reasonable price.
The White Hart never fails to impress! This is my favourite place to eat for both special occasions and as a standard visit. Went for Sunday lunch this time which was filling, delicious and such a great price for the amazing food provided.
The White Hart is an amazing old country pub. As a couple we dined here on a Thursday evening. We were warmly welcomed and seated at a cosy table. The menu is small but with excellent choices. All fix is locally sourced and cooked fresh. We dined on Olives ,fresh bread, Scallops, Spicy parsnip soup, steak and venison. All were cooked and presented perfectly. We did not have room for dessert so just had coffees which arrived with a very nice touch if complimentary brownies on a plate wishing my partner a Happy Retirement. We can highly recommend the White Hart
Another glorious meal at The White Hart, always our 'go to' place for celebrations and special occasions as well as 'what the heck we deserve a lovely meal its been a rubbish week' type evenings. Never disappoints.
This is an excellent restaurant. The food was very good as was the service. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A reasonable choice of food which is freshly cooked to order.
Always brilliant dining here. Always 5*.
Nice location and a stunning building but the food and prices were a disappointment. The fish and chips in particular were below par with the peas being the best item on the plate. The South African Chardonnay however was excellent.
Not a disaster, but there are better options around and so we will simply go elsewhere.
We’ve visited many times for both lunches and dinners and never been disappointed. Spoilt for choice, with signature dishes and chef’s seasonal dishes using home grown and local produce. Service is welcoming, friendly and professional. I’ve overheard many first time visitors make very positive comments about their experience here and I believe you’d be hard pressed to find better dining in Oxfordshire.
Fantastic food as always, only managed 2 courses. Service was good but a bit slow but was very busy as a Saturday night so to be expected. Well worth the travel. Wine very good if you’re not the driver
The building is gorgeous. Food good but expensive and mine was burned but I ate it. Everyone else enjoyed theirs. When we arrived they told me I had booked for 4 instead of 6 and we had to wait while they sorted the table but I can see on the data base that I said 6. Not an issue but odd. Would recommend it as a special place.
It was my second visit at the White Hart and service, ambiance and food quality was very impressive. I’m a big foodie myself and still the pavlova starter was something I never heard of (usually you have pavlova sweet and for dessert) but it was very creative, tasty and different. Good to see chefs doing their own masterpiece to surprise their guests and making something interesting with attention to detail rather than having the same classic booring food which is available everywhere.
Special pumpkin dessert was eye candy and clearly chefs have put lots of effort in it and was delicious.
Because of quality of food and service you get at the White Hart it’s our new favourite place to go out and surely we’ll be back.
Returned here after a couple of years absence. Previously had a disappointing experience here, but happy to report that it's back to its best. Food was very good, some nicely creative dishes in the starters and the desserts and main courses were good too. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. Service was exceptional, with personable and very attentive waiting staff. Wine list was good and there were nice beers on draught. Quite a pricey restaurant, but, given the quality of the food, it represented fair value for money. We will be back!
We had a very nice midweek meal. Well served and excellently cooked.
Inpired food beautifully prepared and presented.
Interesting interior very old full of character.Warm roaring fire.
A character pub/restaurant which provides quality food professionally served. The ambience is first class and I would recommend. Thank you.
We have visited The White Hart on several occasions and have always been favourably impressed by the quality, tastefulness and creativity of the dishes, in particular the Kelmscott Belly Pork. We regard it as one of the best restaurants In Oxfordshire.
We loved everything about the White Hart. The building itself (full of character) and the excellent staff / service ... but the food. Wow! Excellent in every way. Presentation was top notch, choice was good (also catered to my gluten free needs) and the taste ... superb. Our group enjoyed hake, belly pork and the charcuterie. Excellent cooking, full of flavour and frankly, delicious. We will be back ... that's a promise.
We do like the White Hart. It is close to home offers great food which is locally sourced and the staff and service are very good. Our only ongoing bloody annoyance is the cost of their drinks! We find them extortionate, it's not the Ritz, but the price of wine and the mark up they put on is nuts and put us off coming to dine on a more regular basis. Example, a very nice Cru Barolo Recomended by staff £80 in a decent wine shop£30, another a nice New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc £11 for a large glass same wine brought in store £9 per bottle.
It just smacks of greed, I know everyone marks up wine and spirits but come on! Don't get me started on there gin prices...
Great food, and we will go back but we will not get ripped off on drink again..
Excellent food and service. Altogether a very pleasant evening. Will definitely be returning
We had a really tasty lunch from the table d'hote menu.
Superb food, excellent and professional service. The room just a touch cool on this occasion.
We have not visited the restaurant for a while and were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is superb. We had excellent wine and the whole occasion was wonderful. We would certainly return.
Restaurant in an historic building, warm and welcoming, with good food and excellent service.
The food was lovely and wines very well priced. Atmosphere and ambiance very nice even though the Resturant was busy it didn’t feel crowded. The service was a little slow and could have been a bit more attentive.
As lush a visit as always. The White Hart never disappoints. Delicious food, friendly staff and delightful setting.
We had a fantastic evening at The White Hart. The food was outstanding, the most delicious food we had ever had. The attention to detail was impeccable. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and the special touches were an absolute treat. We were there for a 30th birthday dinner and the staff had provided some thoughtful birthday surprises that we hadn’t asked for. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enjoyed their job which made a huge difference! We can not recommend The White Hart enough and will definitely be back again.
Our favourite restaurant, wouldn’t call it cheap but well worth the money for a nice date night or special occasion. Food, service and atmosphere all fantastic
Once again great food and brilliant service fantastic atmosphere.
A very good décor, excellent service and first rate food. We would certainly come here for special occasions, though even for ordinary dining it offers great value. A real find
Lovely lunch. Very reasonable set menu. A LA Carte also available. Staff helpful and friendly. Good atmosphere. All round excelent.
Once again a very good evening out. The food and service as good as always. Not the cheapest meal out but guaranteed great food and atmosphere. Staff are always very welcoming. Been several times over past couple of years.
Absolutely stunning Sunday lunch with great service. The taste and presentation of the food was truly memorable.
What a marvellous place! Really quirky building, spotless service and delicious food!!
fantastic Sunday lunch as always - great food, great staff
It is a friendly place with a good pub ambience and a tempting menu: but!
The slow roasted belly pork was overcooked, the house wine was too young, the addition of a scoop of rice pudding in one dessert unnecessary and very heavy and the creme fraiche brulee lacking in any depth of flavour. A disappointment for American guests!
Lovely place. Food was very good, service friendly. We had a lovely time and will not hesitate to return
