The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.
The dishes on the menu were inspiring, very hard to choose between them. All of the dishes that we had were superb, a particular highlight was the onglet steak dish - one of the best steak dishes that I have ever had the pleasure to eat. Our children (5 and 3) were very well accommodated for. Thoroughly recommended.
The food was excellent and the service to match. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Some of my friends had the anglet steak and were fullsome in their praise. My only criticism was the fact that the toilets are outside and this was not welcoming on a cold night. I would have no hesitation in returning and enjoying such good food.
Excellent quality food & presentation as usual, only negative was my mains course of fish could have done with being warmer but it was still delicious.
Would not recommend the table we had which was directly opposite the main door because when customers are arriving/leaving you have to put up with the draughts, even though there was a lovely fire lit,I would just ensure I asked for a different table next time.
I think really the only area this restaurant could improve on is your first impression when coming in to the building from the car park as it is absolutely awful.
Drab, unclean and uninviting,so easily rectified I am sure, with a good sweep, and some lovely plants in containers.
It is the only area that lets this place down,I am only mentioning it because it can easily be rectified at little cost and will create a much better positive first impression to your customers. :)
Good menu choice both Specials and a la carte. Service attentive but not “pushy”
Food quality very good and plentiful. (Especially the sticky toffee pudding!!)
Staff did not appear concerned that we spent about 3 hours over our lunch.
We will be back
A lovely relaxed atmosphere with outstanding food and great service. The seafood platter was enough for 3 or 4, with superb flavours. I had rump of lamb which was perfectly cooked for main, my wife enjoyed the belly pork just as much. A very special night out. Thank you.
Food was really good.
Will be back!
Always beautifully cooked food , menu very interesting and different.great atmosphere if a little quiet on tuesdays, consistently great foid, staff and venue. Thank you
This was for my Birthday and boy what a fabulous treat it was. The complete experience was 1st class from start to end. The service, abeyance, attention to detail and the food was sublime, can’t wait to visit again. Thank you to your amazing team, a job very well done.
This really is an excellent pub. The food is fantastic, all staff we've interacted with are ultra-nice and helpful, the ambient is quiet and quite welcoming from my point of view. It's the best gastropub I know of, period. The quality of food and service are well worth the value.
Excellent as always! Brilliant food, helpful and willing staff, and great atmosphere
A friendly service with great food at reasonable value. Well done.
Kay and Rob made our experience fantastic. They made us feel very welcome especially the kids. The food was stunning and tasted amazing. Can’t wait to go back
Fantastic as always. Great service, excellent food, can't fault it.
Exceptional food with very pleasant service and good value.
Favourite venue for meals with friends
Service always excellent and food is delicious
Always recommend to friends
Love coming here pity not closer to where
Beautiful as always cant fault it. Food was great staff good atmosphere brilliant. We be back very soon.
Another delicious dinner at our favourite gastro pub. Great food, great service and great location.
The food was very good, tasted delicious and obviously fresh (eg the foraged wild garlic). The staff were polite and attentive without being overbearing. A lovely building, a little out of the way of things. Would be nice to visit in the summer as looks like they have a lovely garden at the back.
On arrival we saw the toilets outside which we used and carried on using, when I mentioned this to a friend a couple of days later she told us there were some inside this would have been nice to know whilst at the venue. If I were to go again I would ask to be seated in the restaurant rather than the bar as the door is opened constantly. Meal was nice (chicken soup stunning) but not as good as my expectations were as we had had such good recommendations. I would try an evening meal rather than Sunday lunch
This wasn’t our best experience at The White Hart. Service was excellent as always, but we were seated in the bar area next to the door which knocked into us each time someone came in. The main meal of roast beef was average. We have have been served better in the past. Dessert excellent and could not fault that!
Would be careful about where we sit if we do come again
A very enjoyable birthday lunch where they pulled out all the stops!
It was so good and I will recommend this restaurant for my friends.
As ever excellent food - We all ordered different dishes and all plates received positive comments. ( the pork dish is simply amazing.)
We were made to feel very welcome, the staff were professional, courteous and under the radar.
We would thoroughly recommend The White Hart.
Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our evening. Food was delicious and staff pleasant and attentive. Thank you very much.
Excellent food, went as a family, ordered different courses - very enjoyable. Undermined by some disorganisation amongst staff serving, all very pleasant but did not work as a team.
Another exceptional Wednesday evening dining experience. Great food, great service, great location and great value. Our favourite restaurant.
Daughters birthday, best food and service had in some significant time, will return many times in the future
Excellent food, well cooked and presented. Staff were very attentive and understanding as we were late for our booking.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
This old inn was an excellent place to spend a special birthday. Amazing food and excellent service
Lovely relaxed evening, never hurried, excellent food and service, making for a very special evening
We had a fabulous meal and would definitely recommend it. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food was exquisite. We have moved house to the area and can walk to The White Hart and will definitely be returning.
Probably the best roast I have ever had at s pub/ restaurant. Very generous portions with a wide variety of well cooked veg and incredible beef
Wonderful Sunday Lunch as expected. Staff charming
The White Hart is tucked away in a little village off the motorway. It has a charming old world atmosphere, quite rustic. Food is carefully considered and tasty, I recommend the apple tart with liquorice ice cream.
Excellent all roubd, only very slightly marred by slow service taking dessert orders.
Beautiful pub, with loads of atmosphere, excellent food and value for money. Service exceptional.
We went for a business lunch as a group of 5. the food was fabulous and as a set lunch menu, exceptional value. Lovely old building. A little quiet at lunchtimes perhaps. We made our own entertainment between chats about the quality of the food.
Super food, a warm welcome and attentive staff.
Only thing to say is not cheap! But worth it
Amazing food, fantastic service, highly recommended, we will definitely be returning!
