The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.
Excellent service, attentive staff and delicious food. It was my birthday and there was a card on the table for me and when we had finished our meal, a plate with Happy Birthday in chocolate written on it, with a delicious chocolate truffle. Thank you
As always everything was perfect. Great place to have a 4 hour relaxing Saturday lunch and drinks with great friends. Always a pleasure.
Excellent food and great service. We were well taken care of, thank you for making my mothers 82nd birthday meal so pleasant.
An excellent meal, wonderful attentive service and a lovely place to eat.
Could not fault.
Our favourite eatery,
Very good service on a relaxed atmosphere, not rushed , relaxed evening with the best food and polite, friendly and efficient staff.
Our anniversary and we really enjoyed the evening.
Beautifully presented and tasting food. Good service.
It was quite hard to find as the sign had been taken down (?for repainting) but it was well worth finding. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was delicious, and the interior of the inn was traditional and cosy. Quiet to begin with (we were seated in the bar area) but it got quite noisy later.
The entire occasion from walking through the door was delightful. Staff had just the right level of attentiveness - the welcome was warm and we had a splendid meal. I would not hesitate to recommend The White Hart to anyone who loves good food
Super lunchtime meal - excellent value.Extra touch was a happy birthday card and chocolates. Will be back soon.
Four of us met for lunch, although we were surprised that from the road the pub looked closed and unloved. When going round the back, however, it became much brighter and inside was fabulous. We all had the set lunch menu which was very tasty and good value. My only criticism would be that the choice for our coeliac guest was rather limited and he was told "these are the things you can't have ..." - it would have been much nicer to have a gluten free menu showing all the things he could have!
All in all, a great lunch out and we'll certainly go back
Many visits to the WH. The menu is not like so many pubs and a la Carte is an evolving list. Specials are also v interesting and sticky toffee is world class. Honestly not found a better high end pub near Oxford
Really enjoyable meal at the white hart. Lots of good gluten free options though could do with some extra desert options
Beautiful indoor and outdoor space, and the food was delicious. The service was very friendly and fast, and I really appreciated the compostable straws and the fact that locally sourced meat/produce is used. I'm looking forward to going back!
My pork was, as usual, great. My wife's fish was disappointing - overcooked and bony (it would have been good if the menu had made clear it was on the bone as my wife would have ordered something else). The starter and desserts were good, particularly the home-made sorbet.
Local and seasonally ‘provenance’ focused very good cooking
Knowledgeable and friendly ‘warm’ service
Food good although not cheap ab and marred by Slow chaotic service and Pestered by flies.
As always the Sunday lunch is to a consistently high standard, can’t fault the food.I would normally rate the White Hart 5 stars but on this occasion the service was not good. Having raved about the White Hart to friends it was embarrassing when we visited with them as the service was way below normal standards.
The White Hart is by far my favourite local restaurant and never disappoints. The food is always top quality and presented very creatively without being over the top. The service and ambience in a lovely old building with history is first class but still feels relaxing and friendly as a local pub should be.
First class service, food superb, the best Mussels I have ever eaten. The Ambiance was ok, we were outside, .
The ambiance inside is super one of the best. We will be back.
As always, the food here was excellent and the ambience relaxed and friendly. The service started well, but was slightly let down by us having to ask for the pudding menu once our first course was cleared away. However, that did not detract from an overall lovely meal.
Excellent food and ambience second to none.
It was a sunny day so we are in the garden. Would have been a good idea to have larger canopies.
Service was a bit slow, otherwise delightful experience. Have been before and will come again.
Great service, the white onion soup was exquisite, what a great find from a quick search for somewhere on a long journey - well worth the diversion! I’ll be making that detour again...
Beautiful pub which we had visited for years but will more regularly now! Lovely garden, great staff and excellent food, service and lovely surroundings- perfect thank you
Excellent service. Good food very professionally presented. We felt very well looked after. Thank you
Fantastic, as always. And their desserts are works of art that taste as good as they look. My favourite gastropub in Oxford.
Having moved away from Wiltshire, we discovered the White Hart by chance while looking for a "mid-point" to meet friends and relatives for lunchtime get-togethers. A great find - we have dined there several times over the past two years and it never fails to please. Great menus, varied choices and good value.
The courgette and parmesan soup was the best we’ve ever had, the lamb rump was delicious and the salted chocolate delice amazing. The staff are friendly and professional and the location has some history and great ambience. 10/10 and a gold star for everything.
We were made most welcome by Dee who was our server throughout our lunch. He was discreetly attentive and friendly.
The food that we ate was very tasty and satisfying. I thought that it was very good value for money. We will definitely go back again.
excellent food - the roast beef is the best that we've tasted, and we've been three times
Felt so welcome and appreciated! Glorious food. Great atmosphere and stunning interior.
Went for pur wedding anniversary. Had a great evening food was amazing as per usual. Service great and although a little on the dark side, the ambience is just right for a cosy evening for two!
Very good food and a lovely atmosphere. Had a very nice evening.
Always enjoy a visit to The White Hart, good food, wine and service
Lovely food, beautiful surroundings and excellent service- what Moe could you ask for ?
Having booked an 8.45 table as the only one available at the time, being hungry we cheekily phoned at 6pm to see if there was any chance of something earlier. They were so kind and helpful and manages to fit us in much earlier without disturbing the schedules of other diners. The food was really excellent and we could not have hoped for a better evening. I just wish we had a White Hart in our village.
Great place to eat, staff were all friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and to a very high standard.
Nice welcome by staff, ordered drinks at bar added to tab, shown to table.
We had one of the three choices of tapas boards which was lovely with nice warm pitta bread.
Only thing we would of preferred would have been if the olives had of been without the stone, but that's just personal taste.
Main course one of us had the Oglet steak, which I am told was very nice, would have preferred mushrooms to not have breadcrumbs in but again personal taste.
I would have liked the Oglet steak but was advised by staff against it due to me wanting my steak well done which would not be beneficial to this particular cut of meat, so I apprecaited the advise.
It's an unusual cut to be offered on a menu, you don't see it very often so all credit to the chef's cooking skills.
Maybe they could alternate this cut with other steaks as last time we came again this was the only choice of cut for a steak choice, however there was plenty of variety of main courses to choose from.
The other guest would also have preferred to have his steak & accompaniments on a plate rather than a wooden board but I guess this just adds to the authentic rustic look.
I had fish & chips with peas & homemade tartare sauce.
The batter was so light and crispy and the fish was gorgeous, chips must have been homemade, crispy & light & fluffy inside.
Tartare sauce lovely.
We did not have dessert on this ocassion as we were full but we well & truly enjoyed our meal once more and will definetly be back soon.
Service is friendly and not over bearing.
Restaurant very quickly fills up so I would advise you book, so worth visiting this restaurant, at the end of the day the food is first class.
There is also a nice garden outside where you can have snacks from the bar menu.
Go on treat yourself !
Friendly, relaxed welcome to a really interesting venue. A busy Saturday with regular diners giving a typical pub feel. Superb menu choice and the fish board sharing starter was quality produce with great variety presented in a rustic way. We both enjoyed the white wines we ordered - a Chardonnay and petit Chablis which was great with the fish. Signature pork dish with crackling was beautifully and innovatively presented, very tasty, perfectly cooked and flavoured, the jus being just right. The lamb dish was equally enjoyable, the rosti style potatoes were cooked perfectly. Wonderful choice of desserts, so pleased to have chosen the Jaffa cake dessert all the elements in it were indulgent especially the chocolate! The orange centre was wow!
So we thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary meal together! Thank you all for a very enjoyable and memorable meal.
The minstrels gallery would be a good option for a quieter table I think .....planning our next visit....
Beautiful restaurant, friendly and attentive staf and excellent food
Love this restaurant, will visit it as often as I can.
