The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.

All was fabulous thank you my only criticism as evening progressed the room got very cold I had to put on a jacket and pashmina ( I appreciate covid rules and fresh air etc ) despite this it did not spoil the meal thank you would definitely recommend
Amazing meal on Sunday lunchtime, delicious Roast beef which melted in our mouths! Puddings also amazing, sticky toffee pudding was to die for as was the cinnamon ice cream with the tarte tatin.
We will be back!
I ate here on a Sunday outside in the Orangery. Three courses are available, two for £27 and three for £30. I had duck/chicken liver parfait to start, slow roasted belly pork for mains, and an apple tarte tatin for pudding. First class ingredients, cooking and presentation: service was friendly and prompt. Meal complemented with a guest ale. Thoroughly enjoyable lunch - I was by myself but several parties also seemed to be having fun. Total bill was £44 with tip.
14/10, would make a detour to go again.
We had a great time and the service was by a very engaging and sparky person who entertained us a good deal. The food was delicious.
Great menu tonight. Smoked sea trout starter, venison mane and rocky road desert were all amazing and delicious. Very welcoming staff on arrival and very professional and friendly throughout. Thoroughly enjoyable meal/experience.
We really enjoyed our lunch here in the Orangerie!
Excellent food & service. Most enjoyable dining experience that my wife & I have had in a long time & we eat out regularly
We were celebrating our Ruby Wedding anniversary with friends and had a fabulous lunch in the orangery. The staff were great and gave us a congrats card and petit fours which was a lovely touch. Always consistently great food and service. Thank you White Hart team!
Excellent food and value for money service was good too
Great food and lovely staff. We always enjoy an evening out here 😀
Just waiting for a reason to return. Truly great .
Food and drink was excellent, good value for money. level of service really good, but i didn't like the way the waitress addressed us as 'my darlings'
Overall it was very good and i will certainly be back again
We always enjoy the food and great service at this local to us pub. Unfortunately, this time my wife and I were seated next to a loud table of 6 or 7 which impacted on the ambience. The waitress did see if there was another table available for us to move to but unluckily for us there was none.
We enjoyed the food however the Pizza was not very filling.
Excellent food and great service in a lovely old fashioned setting
We chose the set lunch menu which was not only very good value but also excellent. The food was beautifully presented and very well cooked. The chef obviously knows his/her stuff. The pub is a nice old building with low beams and yet still feels quite open and spacious. If I had to be critical, it perhaps lacks a little atmosphere. The staff are reasonably efficient whilst quite busy. It did feel though there was a lack of a warm welcome and friendliness, although that said, one of our servers was quite chatty and smiley. We would definitely go again and recommend it to others. Maybe unfair to judge on the strength of one visit and perhaps they will make small improvements with honest feedback.
Beautifully cooked and presented food. Friendly and helpful staff
A really lovely lunch - set menu with tasty choices for all. Food was tastefully presented. We sat outside where there was a comfortable covered area with clear sides & roof. Would definitely return.
Beautiful building in which to sit and eat. Service was swift, efficient and friendly. Excellent choice of cocktails and varied wine list. Sunday lunch was excellent, offered 2 meat options and 1 fish and 1 veggie. All four of us enjoyed our good quality and perfectly cooked food. The belly pork in particular was outstanding, flavoursome and tender.
The greeting was warm and efficient. The service was prompt and the staff very friendly and all the food was fresh and very good. There was a small party on the balcony so occasional bursts of loud noise, but it wasn’t a problem and was mostly quiet.
They had a good wine list too. We really enjoyed it.
Have been at this venue before always excellent service and excellent food
Great food and great service, as usual can not fault it.
Lovely setting very good staff food lovely but small portions
This is local to us and use it for our special occasions. Not cheap and cheerful but good food and service.
Very enjoyable evening. Setting was unique, service was outstanding and the food was very very good. Definitely go again.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good COVID awareness. Interesting food. Very dog friendly great ambience.
Food and service superb unfortunately despite being one of the first guests to arrive we were sat on a first floor annex next to a ladies loo. If we went back we’d request a table on the ground floor in the main dining area or outside weather permitting… much more ambience and less ‘isolated’
Come to the White Hart at Fifield for an excellent meal
It’s such a lovely place to eat, celebrate, relax, whatever. Freshly cooked, local ingredients, fabulous combinations. I had the fish tapas as a main and the trio of nuts dessert. You always eat well and feel special!
Highly recommended fir a delicious lunch with friends.
Another wonderful meal with fantastic food, service and amazing value from the Wednesday Supper Club menu. If you haven’t tried this fabulous restaurant yet then you really should!
What a superb job the owners have made of this pub/restaurant. Our first visit for 18 months for obvious reasons and we chose outdoor seating as the weather forecast was good. The pub is 40 miles from our home, but well worth the effort. Everything about the place is comfortable and friendly, and the food was excellent; the service impeccable. Can't wait for the next visit.
Great service and fantastic food would come again!
Wa have been looking for a great place to eat not too far away.
No need to look any more
A fantastic meal !!
Delicious food, lovely surroundings, exceeded expectations. Perfect for a treat.
One of our favorite country gastro-pubs because the food and service are excellent. The menu changes with the seasons and uses fresh local ingredients. We love being outside on the patio.
Very disappointed with the food quality. Pizza was cold and slightly burnt , although the staff was very nice and replaced the pizza. Sadly, the replaced pizza was again very poor quality.
Booked a birthday meal for my daughter. The food, service and ambience was perfect. We'll recommended
