The White Hart at Fyfield
With a passion for provenance, the kitchen sources food from the very best local suppliers and grow much of their own fruit and vegetables. Mark even fishes for his own crayfish and trout from the local reservoir! Cooking is modern British and menus change daily depending on what is fresh and seasonal - with the signature slow roasted pork belly, with foot long crackling, being a favourite.

Great meal, toast potatoes just a little too crispy to cut! But all very tasty and good service
Wonderful restaurant, fantastic food, relaxed and friendly atmosphere
I had a lovely birthday lunch at the White Hart. I was so touched to find a birthday card from the owners on the table. Such a nice thought! The food was delicious and the staff were extremely kind and attentive. We will definitely be coming back!
The food was fantastic -the Team went out of their way to make my daughters 18th Birthday feel special and nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you we will be back
Really good for non meat eaters. Friendly service. Slightly limited choice of mains but recommend overall.
Eaten here a few times, always been gorgeous food, and wasnt disappointed this time. A few new members of staff one bar person couldnt grasp that i asked for "bitter lemon"... he kept saying "a bit of lemon??" and another younger guy, with mask under his chin looked like he wanted to kill everyone... Welsh guy in charge was fabulous though!!!!
Excellent good in a lovely environment and great service. Well worth going back.
We love coming here. It's got the most wonderful feel. It's very welcoming. The food is outstanding. Can't recommend it more highly.
Highly recommended: friendly atmosphere, magnificent airy room. Staff are very attentive and helpful.
As a vegetarian, having eaten there recently twice, I feel the vegetarian meals are a little lightweight for the price/size. 2 carrots at the bottom of a bowl in a very nice sauce are still two carrots! A little rice or cous cous would make it more of a meal without any additional cost. When you are sat next to a meat eater with belly port and all the trimmings, it seems disproportionately undersized.
Excellent as always. We love coming here on the weekend for a relaxing dinner. Service is always very attentive, great tasting gastro pub menu.
Lovely lunch in October sunshine in the garden. Staff extremely helpful with my husbands dairy free requirements. Couldn’t fault it. Thanks you White Hart.
Another lovely experience with the set lunch. Seasonal and scrummy
Superb food, lovely staff will be returning with more people!
Food was really lovely and the meal wasn’t at all rushed which is always nice. Our waitress along with all the staff was so lovely and attentive.
Very atmospheric pub with good food beautifully presented.
The white Hart is excellent the food and service was excellent we will definitely be eating there again.
A truly excellent lunch, beautifully cooked and presented, elegantly served. I would strongly recommend the White Hart.
Fantastic food , service and atmosphere. One of the best meals I have ever had . Highly recommended.
Thanks so much .
Always enjoy going to the White Hart for Sunday lunch. The food is consistently good with quality and imagination of courses, excellent service and choice of wines,
I read a review that said "why does this place not have a michelin star......." booked it and thought it could have just been someone bigging the place up. Actually, why does this place not have a michelin star??
Great customer service delivered by a team of staff who obviously want their customers to enjoy their visit and food. Our meals were were well presented, balanced, freshly prepared and tasty. Staff were happy to take on board feedback, we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had the set lunch which was perfect portion size for us.
Great place, we love it. Perhaps a broader menu and when we booked on Open table we could choose only 6 or 7 when 6.30 was best, it was empty at 6.30, Open Table need a kick!

Loved my fig pudding but from the description I was expecting whole figs and not just a couple of fig slices.
Quite a time since we have been due to COVID but the same level of excellence as in the past. Really enjoyed the visit again and hopefully will be back again soon.
I love everything about The White Hart. The food was delicious, the staff are wonderful and the venue is beautiful.
Absolutely delicious as always. Wednesday supper club supreme with the delicious pork dish. The sticky toffee was so good.
This was our second visit. Again the place was quite quiet in terms of customers but the food and service was really excellent. And the interior is lovely. Irritating Radio 1 pop music was blaring out somewhere - rather unnecessary in a place full of over 60s - but we found a quiet corner, and very much enjoyed our meal. We'll be back.
Good food, well presented, friendly team. Easily located and no trouble parking.
We had a lovely birthday meal with our daughter at the White Hart on Wednesday evening. My husband and daughter had the pork which was beautifully presented and which they both thoroughly enjoyed, while I had the chickpea curry and cauliflower fritters - very tasty.
The birthday card on the table for our daughter was a very nice touch and staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend and will go back again soon.
One of our absolute favourite 'gastro-pubs'. We've been many times, when permitted, during the Pandemic. This was our first time located in the left-hand-side upper 'wing' of the pub. Some interesting photos/history of the early days of the former 'Chantry', which didn't really make up for a stark lack of atmosphere. Bit startled to be called 'darling' by the waitress! which, I'm sure, was well intentioned... Our table was booked for 1230PM, quiet when we arrived but on leaving the car park was 'choc full'. The food scrumptious as ever, however it was evident that veg portion and gravy was being stretched to accommodate lots of hungry customers. We'll wait awhile before returning and definitely avoid the popular Sunday Lunch time 'slot'.
Overall, an excellent Sunday lunch. Perfect portions for a 3 course meal and very well cooked and presented - the roast beef was meltingly soft. Only two very slight gripes. At first, we were put at a table near the fire (a fire, on a mild, sunny October day!) and it was way too hot. We were moved when we asked, but if there hadn't been another table, this could have been a problem. Second, there should have been more red wine jus. The HUGE Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were crying out for it. I did mean to ask for some more, but I think I was enjoying myself too much. We will definitely be returning.
The staff were very helpful and meal was outstanding.
The fish tapas starter was wonderful as it was last time I visited.
There is a very large choice of wine. We had the organic red wine of the month which went down well with the pork I had.
Great place for dinner.
We have been to the Whitehart on several occasions and would not hesitate in recommending it to friends and family. Very friendly atmosphere and wonderful service and food.
This is the second time that I have visited the White Hart. The previous time was in August for Silver Wedding. On both occasions we could not fault the service or the food. The staff were amazing and very attentive. We will certainly be visiting again
The normal entrance was marked exit but our table was next the the exit which was in continuous use as an entrance. Our waiter was wearing a very heavy mask as a result it was not easy to hear him and he kept wiping everything.
All very over the top and not conducive to a relaxed and welcoming dining experience.
The only criticism was that I was backed onto the fieplace with a roaring wood burning stove which became uncomfortable until it burned down after an hour, just as we reached the coffee and desert stage it was restoked and became too hot to relax so we ahd to leave. Slightly spoiled what was otherewise and excellent meal as always. (been there many time previously, one of our favourites)
Tables felt rather too close together in current Covid-related circumstances. Our table was rather small even for two people.
The reputation for the best pork dish around was fully upheld.
