One of the best pub Sunday lunches I’ve had in a very long time (if not ever!)
The service was excellent, the food was even better and all in the charming surroundings of Wytham. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Amazing food - great service
As usual the experience of dining in the outdoor area was as you come to expect from this establishment excellent all round, especially the food and waiter last night what a professional.
Really good food and felt safe in the outdoor pods
Can highly recommend as we had a lovely evening
Superb! A really great atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly excellent food!
Yet again a very enjoyable and slightly special meal at The White Hart. It is a very special place, fabulous atmosphere and the food is excellent and good value.
The atmosphere was very good. We dined outdoors, sitting in one of the "pods". It was evening (dark) and the fairy lights made it very atmospheric and romantic.
The food was very good, as was the service.
I will be going again.
A pleasant courtyard dining room protected from the weather
Lovely food and great ambience. Good to be in a pod when the rain comes down.
The White Hart has set out its back garden with the tables in 'bubbles' and all of them under a high canopy too - so sitting out in the rain (as we did) is absolutely fine. The menu was slightly limited due to lack of staff (like everywhere) but the service was excellent, and the food was excellent. I'm on a diet and (annoyingly) asked for a burger without chips or bun. You often get exactly that, but not this time. The chefs had bulked up my plate with a delicious salad, the burger was good, and I left most pleased with the whole experience, including the service, which as my (male) dining partner had asked the waitress how much she weighed, was surprisingly very good.
The pub is normally excellent but today was bad. I have been told that chef could not get the ingredients he wanted and this through poor deliveries and no drivers and foods temporarily unavailable. It is becoming common in many a pub around here. Morale was low and the kitchen could not get sufficient assistants and the service poor. I would wait until the effects of Brexit have worn off so that normal service can be resumed when/if ever that is.
Sunday lunch at the White Hart is always a pleasure. And on a warm late summer Sunday afternoon, even better to be sat outside with glasses of white wine. The menu even featured queen scallops ("queenies") from the Isle of Man. Even better to think they were personally accompanied back to the White Hart by the owner (food provenance is very important). The lamb, with generous portions of side dishes, together with varied desserts all met expectations. And a special mention of the serving & kitchen staff -- the White Hart was very busy and yet the staff made sure the atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and attentive. A perfect Sunday afternoon on which to end summer.
Lovely setting and interesting food - not your average pub
Great evening fabulous service lobster was amazing will def be back and recommend highly worth a visit
Sat outside in the covered garden, the ambience and charm of this place is a little gem. We discovered it by accident driving past one day and then got a chance to go when friends were in town. Food was great as was the service.
Very impressed by the food. When I last visited I was put off for some years because the food wasn’t great. But now it’s excellent: original, quite sophisticated and beautifully presented. The new tent/marquee is not up to the same standard however.
My girlfriend sat on a wet chair that had been brought in from the garden. Food was great.
Another excellent lunch from the team at The White Hart. I'm going to be salivating for about a week over my banging steak. Thanks for everything guys
I can’t compliment the team at The White Hart of Wytham enough… the entire experience was spot on… gorgeous setting, fantastic service and outstanding food… definitely returning and very soon.
Great food, and background live singers, outdoors us done very well.
This was agreed by all four of us to be the most amazing Sunday lunch ever (since last year when we and our guests had Sunday lunch here). Our guests loved the pod, the food and wine were wonderful, and the service gently attentive even when busy. We'll definitely be back.
My first time here but certainly not the last. We sat outside in a booth inside the marquee, service could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The food was proper restaurant quality rather than ‘pub grub’, really impressive- looked great and tasted delicious. They had run out of IPA so we supped a couple of pints of Wadsworth 6X which is always a treat. Probably not as picturesque as it might be due to the social distancing measures and outside seating but congratulations for great effort in making this safe and comfortable as possible. Wasn’t expensive either.
Love the pods, great staff. Looking forward to visiting again.
Very nice dinner and brilliant service.
Lovely service and most of the food was delicious. A few Mix ups on drinks and food, but quickly rectified with minimum of fuss. Considering the complications from COVID workarounds, we had a lovely time. The outdoor seating arrangements were lovely and we stayed dry and warm even through a hail shower.
First time back to the WH since last year. We thought how well you'd accommodated the present situation. First the huge protective tent plus the individual pods which were delightful - beautifully presented and pretty - we could see much money and effort had been ploughed in to this new way of dining.
There were three of us - my mother who was 90, my sister and myself. I did inform the pub at point of booking that mum is a regular user of the WH and that it was a special birthday and was informed that she would be a made a little bit of a fuss of... but this didn't happen. It's no big deal, but she would have been as pleased as punch with a Happy Birthday from the staff. There was ambient piano music; just right - not intrusive, very pleasant. We each had a starter plus a pud - divine food as always. Staff friendly and professional, with covid protocol taken v. seriously. We bought coats, blankets and a hot water bottle - thankfully the rain held off until we were about to leave so all good. It was lovely to be back there again; I know mum in particular enjoyed it. Thank you!
Great spot. Becoming our favorite pub for outdoor dining in Oxford area.
the menu has some fabulous courses . Really top notch
We had a very enjoyable lunch meal yesterday at the White Hart Wytham. The outside facilities are very good with separate pods and a high covering that covered the whole area. One felt safe from Covid and were able to relax and enjoy being waited on after what seems a long time.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back.
Geared up well for COVID compliant outside dining. Great food! Wrap up well if it’s cold outside although the pods have heaters.
Great to be back at The White Hart. As always the food was lovely. Both of us had a roast. my beef was brilliant, so tasty and it melted in the mouth. My husbands pork loin was soft and tender, and the crackling was so good that he would have loved to have had a bag of it. Plenty of fresh veg, tasty gravy and the lightest yorkshire puddings that we've ever eaten. Wonderful service even with all the Covid restrictions. If you haven't eaten here yet hurry up and book a table, it's so good
Absolutely lovely Sunday meal. Accommodated some dietary intolerances really well. Beautiful outdoor garden. Very high quality food. Chef deserves a raise!
Food good. At present eating outside but well organised. Beautiful pub. Staff efficient and served quickly despite being very busy.
A last minute decision to visit our son in Oxford for a sunny Sunday lunch meant that only two options came back in the search results. The Whyte Hart came first and with such good ratings I didn’t hesitate to book 4 bar stools. In fact we had a pod dressed with greenery and waiting staff full of smiles. Fast service, lovely Sunday roast. They were short on some of the veg so extra Yorkshire puddings were offered and they’d run out of the dessert I’d have liked - but that’s a sign of a popular menu. We’d definitely go back and would recommend without hesitation.
The White Hart has made a wonderful set up in the garden. Very atmospheric with lights and decorations, lovely pods to sit in, each with their own heat lamp. The food was great, as always.
Booked anniversary date with my wife three weeks in advance of booking expecting to get a cosy pod as per the the pubs website but disappointing to arrive on the evening to find table not ready and then advised hadn’t had a pod reserved anyway. Placed out on a limb in an unheated poorly lit area away from the main dining experience so didn’t start on the best footing. Waiter apologetic as we’d felt mislead and not in the know that should have explicitly asked for a pod..said he would move us to a pod as soon as one became available which he did in the end but we’d had had the meal by then. Would have been a far better experience if been in the heated pods for the whole meal. Really nice ambience and feel. Food was good but wine was poor. £26 Chenin blanc was watery and felt equivalent to a cheap £5 convenience store wine..overall would have given higher score if it wasn’t for the disappointing seating experience. Was first night out for months also with my wife having worked two stressful jobs in NHS throughout the pandemic. Of course that not the pubs fault but amplified the disappointing experience after lots of good recommendations from others that had had the hallowed pod dining experience..on that basis won’t be returning. Pierre Victories all the way next time when they open up..
Really nice food. Looking forward to eating there when it is a bit warmer.
Really tasty food, the outdoor pod was beautiful ans the staff were friendly
We had a lovely meal at the White Hart. We were sitting outside, as per the current COVID regs and they did a great job of creating a cosy and ambient atmosphere. There was luce music in the form of a piano which was such a treat and added to the experience. The good was all tasty and well presented. Would definitely recommend.
