The White Hart Ratings and Reviews
Had a great New Year's Day roast lunch here. Portion sizes were very generous and our beef was lovely and tender with great roasted veg. The staff were friendly and attentive and also good with our 2 and 4 year olds. They were happy to accommodate our fussy eater's request for broccoli instead of peas with his sausage and mash! The dining room was pretty quiet, but I think that was more to do with the time of day (we had a 12pm booking as we have young kids and therefore no new year hangovers to nurse!) We will definitely be back.
Minor (!) criticism from those of us that know both Tilbury and here is the a la carte menu at full price includes most if not all that is on the sister venue seasonal menu but not at two and three course prices, £26.50 & 29.50 respectively. However the quality and flair shown in the starters and mains means this kitchen is neck and neck with the Tilbury. What more can you want? Well, the wine we had exceeded expectation and is a favourite that I have defaulted to over the past 4/5 years. No name means there may be more for those of us that value this terrific example of Young French wine at its best! Keep it up Bain & Bridges because we are worth it !!
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff. Even though the restaurant was busy some of my party arrived late due to traffic problems. The staff still made us feel very comfortable and accomodated us at a later time. Lovely food especially the fish and chips. The restaurant is perfect for lunch or evening meal. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.
We had a lovely meal. Beautifully cooked and presented, and the taste matched it. Not the most complicated sounding dishes but, in reality, everything sampled showed a high level of technical skills. I would recommend people try the chocolate cake, it was nothing like I expected but tasted fantastic. Service was absolutely fabulous, both staff that served us were friendly and professional. The only issue was that the ambience was a little soulless but that is not enough to detract from a first class experience.
It is not often that I will complete another review, in quick succession, but I was so impressed with the food served to me last week, I thought it would add value. I had the veg option soup and toastie which was gorgeous, followed by pumpkin cake for my main, again very good. Kids shared bread and garlic butter, followed by the burger with fries, which is excellent value. My wife had the whole soft crab, again as a burger. The main reason for the repeat review is that I was so impressed with the change in menu, so soon after my last visit and the quality of service received. Being a vegetarian, I have to jump from place to place to get variety, so I will visit soon and I know that I will be very happy with my meal. Well done The White Hart.
As usual, a lovely meal. Went for Fathers Day and wasn't disappointed. All food was well cooked and presented. Our 7yr old has particular tastes which were well catered for. Great wine list and cocktails. Staff are very attentive without being intrusive. Back again very soon for another family celebration.
Our friends came over from Hertford - they are regular visitors to some of the other restaurants in Welwyn but were very impressed with the White Hart. The Pork Board with the crackling was particularly impressive. It's nice that the menu is as varied as it is, offering simple fare as well as the more complex a la carte options.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening - we will certainly return.
Had an excellent breakfast at the White Hart. Lovely food and good value for money. Staff were fantastic, just the right amount of service and left us to enjoy our meal. We were left to chat which makes a refreshing change and didnt feel as though we had to leave as soon as we finished eating. Would definitely go back.
This was a family and friends meal including a vegetarian and everything was perfect. The starters were imaginative and unusual, mains were plentiful and desserts beautiful. All were cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. We could not fault anything and would really recommend.
Regular customer to the bar and occasional diner, took the opportunity to eat in the dining room and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. I had pork belly for main which was superbly cooked and presented, as was my wife's fish dish. Well done Adam and all the team, especially those we don't see! This spot has really improved in the last 12 months.
