The White Horse is gloriously situated on the marshland coastline of North Norfolk at Brancaster Staithe, a designated area of outstanding beauty.
The dining room and adjoining conservatory restaurant serves seasonal, local produce seven days a week. Shellfish when in season includes cockles, mussels and oysters from the beds at the bottom of the garden. Fish delivered to the kitchen door by the village fishermen.
Seafood Platter to Share
Half 'Billy Wards' lobster, dressed Cromer crab, crayfish and prawn cocktail, 'Staithe Smokehouse' salmon & shell on prawns, 'Richard Loose' Brancaster oysters, pickled cockles, sourdough, garlic mayo, salads
roast cauliflower, raisin, apple, walnut
Food was great, and seemed to have plenty of staff on which allowed them the time to be friendly, helpful and chatty to all customers.
The food and service were generally good but the portion sizes were small. Both my teenagers ordered extra chips when they weren’t full after sharing bread and a main course. The prices didn’t reflect the size.
Lovely very tasty and well presented food
Food was not good at all. Wont be going back. Lovely view.
Good food and great service in a lovely location overlooking the marsh.
Excellent service and the food was amazing, it was a really special lunch for us and the whole experience was brilliant- thank you
Wonderful food , service and surroundings. Thank you
Excellant food great atmosphere and superb staff well worth a visit
An amazing view, amazing friendly staff and amazing food. Couldn't fault it.
Great welcome , staff fantastic , polite and very well trained, view over marshes while you eat fantastic , food excellent (and we over indulged , we will be back but would be nice for a mint with bill😉. Place made us fill safe and relaxed . Oysters to die for thanks for everything .
The welcome, table service and food quality was excellent. We received a warm welcome at the door and for the whole time we were there.
It was just an all round very nice experience, which you don't get very often. This pub is 65 miles from where I live, but I shall certainly return for more.
Thanks White Horse you made it worth the drive.
Thank you for your lovely review,
Wonderful place, very relaxing. Very good for allergies.
My fish was raw and my partners sea food platter was not fresh - for example the mackerel was dry. The manager did not charge us for the meal but we had to pay for drinks. Very disappointed having booked weeks ago as a treat whilst on our holiday.
Nice food, and location. Good variety of menus. Staff friendly and attentive, plenty of social distancing. Some dishes a little expensive.
Thé White Horse is beautifully situated and would thoroughly recommend it for the vistas. Whilst my partners fish dish was very good, I ordered the seafood pasta. I was disappointed to find lots of closed clam shells and bisque sauce very thin.
Despite this , when I mentioned this to our waitress, she immediately offered some récompense which was appreciated.
I would return to the venue but would recommend having the fish of the day opposed to the pasta.
The staff were lovely and very accommodating
It is a real treat to dine here. The food is amazing, fantastic view, lovely restaurant & great staff. We can't wait to go back.
Disappointed with the allocated table despite requesting a window table four months ago. Food choice is limited, wine over priced, seems to be resting on its laurels from previous years when we rated it highly. Inappropriate pictures in the gents toilets.
Had the seafood platter had been so looking forward to it , every thing was so cold must be just sitting in the chiller waiting to be made up the lobster was tuff & chewy the claws were like jelly really not worth the money , perhaps we were just unlucky
Great service - staff very helpful and attentive.
Beautiful setting overlooking the marshes to the sea
Very limited vegetarian option and nothing vegan.
Seafood platter was very good
Pineapple tart Tatin was just tinned pineapple slices on pastry- a bit disappointing.
Overall a good experience though.
Very good food, wasn’t paid attention to, struggled to get attention for another drink prior to food, ordered desert no cutlery and no fresh napkins after the shellfish platter(no finger bowl) had to leave table to get my own from reception, I did tip but not nearly as much as I would if I had been looked after, view and food was very good though
We are here on holiday and booked this place before we arrived as is seen it on Facebook. The food was absolutely amazing!! My 1st time trying lobster! This is now my favourite food. Waitresses were friendly and altered menu for my little girl. Would highly recommend this place and one day we will be back. I’d drive again over 2 hours just to eat here 🥰
Very good value and a most enjoyable evening. Thank you.
Staff are amazing, most the food was cold/chilled so super fast to get to the table
Definitely worth the 2 hour drive great food and atmosphere.
A beautiful setting and this is definitely a venue for a special occasion. The seafood platter was delicious with local produce. Perhaps some more interesting dipping options would make it outstanding. Desserts were amazing. A really lovely meal
Lovely place the platter was amazing went above and beyond
We booked a table for 2 on Saturday evening. The sun was still red hot but so we sat outside with a parasol. We ordered some drinks which took a while t arrive. Our starters then arrived after they had been given to another table. We had no cutlery so we had to wait another couple of minutes to get the waiters attention. Our mains arrived in good time after our starters but my husband ordered another cider with his main which was given to the table next to again. We then ordered desert. My husbands came but mine didn’t arrive, we suspect it also went to the table next to us as they ordered the same as us. I complained to the waiter who brought my dessert out a short while later. Whilst eating my dessert I found a long pieces of plastic in it which I can only describe as being from a pastry brush. I didn’t complain as it was very hard to get anyone’s attention. All in all the food was very good but it was let down by the service.
Excellent food, brilliant service from Romane the waiter
A lovely venue with beautiful views. Excellent service, delicious food, cannot wait to return.
Nice quiet table at the restaurant window. Attentive service. Great food. Lovely place.
Thanks for your lovely review
Great food, great location
Extremely good food and the service, just right, friendly, helpful and efficient. Fairly small menu with no soup or breads seemingly. Would recommend to all the seafood loving. A small thing but the coffee's are too expensive.
Excellent meal in really nice setting and very good service
Lovely lunch midweek. Service was good and the quality of the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend and we will return the next time we visit Norfolk
Amazing seafood platter , lovely wine with great view deffo come back
Excellent service, food highly recommended
Amazing meal just a shame the specials being offered were no longer available
Great place, very enjoyable great food and great service
Relaxed and friendly service even though we’re delayed getting there, we weren’t made to feel at all rushed. Excellent seafood and a very pleasant experience all round in a charming spot.
