The White Onion
We pride ourselves on using top quality cooking with seasonal ingredients, offering an exquisite but accessible food menu, regularly changed by our head Chef Frédéric Duval.

Customer satisfaction is at the very core of what they do. Our senior team has been with us since day one, ensuring a friendly and professional service.
Large groups are also welcome at our restaurant.
Haven't been there in a long time for lunch. The service was friendly, the food was so good and we certainly enjoyed ourselves.
Best restaurant I've been to in 50 years of dining in London
Value for money as usual despite a new chef at the helm. The food remains excellent. The service curious and helpful.
Menu read well but sadly didn’t quite deliver. Wonderful service and lovely atmosphere. Good value too, but was left a little disappointed with the food
Superb and highly reccomended
Our return to this delightful restaurant was as good as we expected. The staff were friendly the on Beyoncé great and the food delicious. A really great place to visit.
Delicious food & wine with one small problem, which was resolved when the bill came. The man who looked after us was very professional & extremely courteous.
Great as always
I have been a regular for the last 5 years but was disappointed at my lunch recently. Both the carpaccio and cod were underwhelming.
The cod was under seasoned as was my husband’s onion soup. However the puddings for both of us were delish. Overall i wouldn’t rush to recommend White Onion as I used to do. Not sure if this was due to a change of chef...
Fantastic, like all the other four visits this year. Service and food top quality
Good main courses, but a very poor starter and cold coffee. Service was pleasant and efficient.
I'm happy to pay for a great dining experience, but I couldn't recommend this restaurant-not great value for money.
Great restaurant with a really friendly servicing staff.
The food was really tasty and the organic wine a hit the restaurant really exceeded my expectations. I did not pay, but I assume it was not cheap but for the quality of the food it was value for money.
One of our party was unwell after the meal and the waiters were really great, tried to ordered an ambulance and went the the chemist for some aspirins.
I would highly recommend
We had a lovely time at White Onion for my husbands birthday. They gave us a nice table, very attentive and the food was all delicious. They also made some special touches throughout. Would definitely recommend!
Good food with interesting choices. Attentive but not intrusive service with 'just right' timing. Nice Christmas champagne aperitif.
Fantastic fancy food, great professional and efficient staff, and a beautiful venue. All plates are set down at the same time, so no waiting for others. It's a beautifully designed restaurant, comfortable and classy.
I recommend this place without any hesitation.
The food was excellent. The staff were great. My favourite restaurant in the village.
Quality and choice on the menu was good. On our table of 4 everyone was happy. Wine selection was superb in particular the St Veran white and the organic primitivo from Puglia was very good value. Staff were excellent and the guy from Peru made the best Pisco sour you could hope to find in the UK.
Fabulous set menu for lunch which was great value - loved it.
Amazing value for money, especially weekend set lunch.
It was the second time we have been to The White Onion and, once again, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, there was a good selection of reasonably priced wine and the waiting staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. One of our party is gluten intolerant and the waiter was able to tell her immediately what dishes were suitable (most could be adapted) without it being an big issue. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Lovely restaurant especially if you get a table in the window. The service is fantastic, friendly but very professional. The food just gets better, the two standout dishes were, the 7 hour cooked suckling pig, which was absolutely amazing. I would normally go for fish but it looked so tempting and I wasn’t disappointed. My husband had the crispy duck egg for starter, which he said was one of the best starters he’d ever had. All the food was amazing, can’t wait to go back. The wine list is very good and reasonably priced, the cocktails are always with trying. Thank you for making our evening very special !
The White Onion was a really lovely restaurant, it has been a few things over the years, but this is a lovely french/modern bistro. The decor is looking a bit tired now, the loos are a bit grubby, but overall its a comfortable place. The staff are super friendly, very attentive - could be sharper - things like, the waiters shouldn't wink at you. small things but they're lovely bunch. The food though, was so disappointing. It was really bland, not strong in flavours and sadly not enough to get us back.
I had heard good things but was disappointed. It was cold sitting in the window. The table beside us was raucous. The other diners stood inches from us outside on pavement rolling their cigarettes.
We asked for still water - and were charged £3.95 for the bottle even though it was probably refilled from tap. Food was mediocre. Service was added to the bill - we will reward it if deserved it
The food was robustly priced, but it was justified by the overall excellent experience.
My wife and I sat by the window. If we had been in the middle of the restaurant, we would have found it difficult to hear each other without raising our voices.
There were several large groups - maybe Christmas celebrations. So that could explain it.
A great meal with fantastic food and good service levels. Staff very attentive. It was 7am on an early December evening so for a while we were the only people in the restaurant (didn't matter to us though)
Great food and service. We had a lovely evening. Been meaning to try The White Onion for a while and was not disappointed. I have already recommended a visit to others!
Excellent food prepared with care and thought. As always the difficulty was trying to narrow my choice down to only 1 starter, main and dessert - I could have chosen any of the options.
One of our go-to places in Wimbledon. Great food and excellent service.
I would recommend the White Onion 100%. The service is top, and not too evasive. They don't press you like some places in London. The food is very good french classics with some international twist. But the combination works. All this without the fuss of a soho / maifair restaurant. Keep it up, you are special ❤️
Food on the whole was delicious, not hugely impressed with sides, other than that - beautifully presented and tasty. Service & ambience - very good, will definitely return and do recommend.
One of the best value set lunches you will find in London, with superb, friendly and professional service. One of my favourite go to restaurants.
Excellent hosting, welcoming staff, delicious cocktails, breads and desserts. The non-vegetarian dishes were exceptionally cooked but the vegetarian options were bland and under seasoned. I will definitely return for the fish courses and dessert at lunch as they offer exceptional VFM.
Outstanding as always. Whilst we are spoilt with the choice of wonderful restaurants in Wimbledon my boyfriend and I love coming here - both for a meal out and special occasions. We have also enjoyed sharing the experience with our family and friends. The staff are brilliant - and recall specific details which make the experience all the more pleasurable. We are also delighted that the White Onion supports game week. It’s a wonderful seasonal ingredient and the special dishes created really did it justice. We are already looking forward to our next, of many, visits.
Good night out with family.
We had a reasonable experience. The food was good The problem was that neighbouring tables and other tables were very noisy, loud laughing etc. We would have enjoyed it more if that had not been the case.
Fantastic food at great value!
Excellent experience made more special by attentive and professional staff.
Our party of 3 were visitors to the area and I booked The White Onion based on its reviews and we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and professionally attentive - just right. The food was excellent. Every plate was beautifully presented, the ingredients fresh and full of flavour - quite delicious. We enjoyed our evening enormously and left the restaurant delightfully sated and very content with our lot! Thank you to everyone at the restaurant.
Excellent! Food delicious and the service very good. Highly recommend. Best restaurant in Wimbledon village by some margin.
A great restaurant which served our purposes well for a meeting of eight friends. Great occasion.
