The White Onion
We pride ourselves on using top quality cooking with seasonal ingredients, offering an exquisite but accessible food menu, regularly changed by our head Chef Frédéric Duval.
Our international wine list is courtesy of Pedro Borges, always attentive to new wine discoveries. The wine list offers great value for money and showcases a wide variety of wines from different regions of the globe.
Customer satisfaction is at the very core of what they do. Our senior team has been with us since day one, ensuring a friendly and professional service.
Large groups are also welcome at our restaurant.
The food was particularly good on Easter Sunday and there was an excellent choice.
Service is always excellent.
It would be nice if it opened more often for lunch.
We look forward to our next visit.
This local restaurant is excellent with a superb team and a constantly changing menu that delivers flawlessly executed dishes every time. The evolving seasonal menu and efficient and friendly service enables it to become our go to restaurant and we are never disappointed and always delighted. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
The best aspects of French cuisine were on show at the White Onion, excellent, discreet service, a seasonal menu that offered enough choices without being overly long, and an extensive wine list that covered the French classics but also had a world selection. Six of dined there and all of were impressed with all the courses. Starters and mains were the stars, beautiful presentations and delicious. Desserts were good without being inspired. Wimbledon now has very good restaurant that is worth the money and is not pretentious
It was my first time dining here and I really enjoyed it. Such a gem in the Village ! The service was impeccable. I had the burrata and the cod and both were delicious. There is a great cocktail menu as well.
We had a very nice meal on a rare night out just the two of us. Service was outstanding - very attentive without ever intruding. Food was good but not the best ‘fine dining’ meal we’ve had, although range and quality of wine was excellent. A distinct lack of veg with the main courses and not even a green veg option available as a side dish. Nonetheless a very enjoyable evening and we’ll go back again.
We always enjoy the White Onion - great food and wine, lovely setting and excellent service.
This place punches well above what you would expect. I have been going on a regular basis for that special meal delivers this every-time. Would and have recommended this place to so many friend all have enjoyed it thanks again for a beautiful lunch
This was our first visit and we loved it! Great food, very attentive and pleasant staff, and an interesting wine list. We will definitely return.
Lovely food and very good service. Very relaxed atmosphere.
We were a party of four and all agreed that the food was great quality and well priced. Only one negative - I had the tempura prawns and asparagus and although beautifully cooked there was a small amount of shell left on the prawns!
Great evening spent with friends here. Staff were friendly and helpful-lots of gluten free options too!
The restaurant is in the smarter part of Wimbledon (wimbledon Village), up the hill from the railway/Tube/tram station. Unless energetic, take the bus or a taxi to the restaurant. Though not eaten there for several months, we were nonetheless greeted as returning customers - a good sign. We were given the table in the window (requested in advance) so we could watch the busy comings and goings. The £25.50 3 course Sunday lunch is very good value for money. What sort of food is served? Difficult to categorise, but I enjoyed my ham+rabbit terrine, followed by nicely presented, sliced guinea fowl. I finished with tarte tatin. A good combination and not too large portions. The NZ sauvignon blanc was ok though not special. there is a loo (marked handicapped) at the rear of ground floor, which avoids going downstairs
This excellent small restaurant in the heart of Wimbledon Village has everything, excellent service, as well as superb food and wines at a very reasonable price compared with other restaurants aspiring to be in the same league - for us it beats many that have gained a star... Arriving for a birthday lunch it had all the discreet, low key but charming touches those (like us) who don't like a fuss would like - a personalised menu with Happy Birthday on the top and Happy Birthday written in chocolate around the desert plate. Menu changes and is full of delights.
I live locally in the village and this is my favourite place to eat and take friends with visiting SW19
Always excellent food and wine and service is unfailingly to a high standard
This was a special get together with friends. We had a lovely round table for 4 in the window. The menu was extensive and we struggled to choose. The variety of bread served upfront is delicious, especially the gruyere one. Good selection of wine and the service was great!will definitely be back
Food was sensationally good. I always enjoy the atmosphere as tables are not so close together that you feel you are being listened to.
As always, great food with fantastic service. By far Wimbledon's best restaurant.
Wonderful lunch with excellent service and the food was out of this world.
Staff was very kind with lovely food.
Nice atmosphere, surely I will come back this
Fantastic birthday dinner at The White Onion.
Service and food was outstanding. Restaurant was relatively quiet for a Wednesday evening and the atmosphere was pleasant. The staff included lovely touches like a birthday menu and complimentary birthday dessert which was much appreciated. Will definitely be back
Wonderful service and thoughtful staff who printed out a copy of the menu highlighting the special occasion that was being celebrated.
Good atmosphere, nice table and friendly service. Food well cooked and delicious, although quite rich. Service very friendly but slightly uncoordinated at times. Decent selection of wines.
Nice restaurant, staff very helpful. Good atmosphere.
Beautiful food, great service. Wine selection is good with a range of price points. Fairly expensive overall but the quality still makes it feel good value. Will be visiting again!
High quality product with a beautiful presentation. The staff extremely friendly and professional. We love to celebrate every special occasion there.
Superb evening - interesting menu, varied wine list, engaging and pleasant staff. Highly recommended
We had been on a couple of occasions but it was our first lunch experience. Great value for money set lunch menu and the service as always impeccable. Nothing to fault at all. We’ll be back.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly and made the dining experience wonderful. The only thing I marked on star down for the food is the pudding menu - it's not exciting enough and could do better. However all in all, it's excellent value comparing to food cost in pubs in nearby areas.
This is the second time I have gone to The White Onion. Each time excellent. The food quality is bar none and the set lunch menu a bargain. I had reserved for a friend's birthday and it was remembered w a personalised menu and dessert plate. Service exceptional. Top of my list.
One of our favourite ever restaurants. Delicious food and fabulous service. We love it here!
Very good food and a nice relaxed atmosphere
Brilliant as usual. Great recommendation for a new wine to try - Bogle Californian Petite Syrah. Duck and rack of lamb nicely cooked. Chocolate tart to die for.
Great meal at the White Onion - food and service both excellent.
Delightful food, drink and service, excellent value too
Buzzy atmosphere excellent service good food ! Would recommend to friends
Quality food and attentive service. But lacked a little in atmosphere with restaurant quarter full (football night).
Went for Sunday lunch. Starters and mains were really excellent- the lamb was great. Veg selection and desserts not very inspiring.
Service friendly and attentive with a relaxed, comfortable ambience.
Beautiful food, attentive service and a calm but busy ambience. A really lovely lunch and with the set price it was excellent value for money. Will be returning.
Always flawlessly executed dishes that change regularly but with signature flavours and style. The service was impeccable as ever with tentative but discreet staff making for a delightful relaxing Sunday lunch.
