Amazing as always. Great set menu and perfect friendly service
Good evening with friends at The White Onion in Wimbledon. The food was very nice with a diverse menu. Service was attentive. I'm pleased to see the vegetarian options had improved since I last visited but my main still lacked any sauce and was quite dry as a result. This is a very nice restaurant but still lacks the 'wow' element - not really sure why though.
The food is outstanding, don't let the unusual combinations put you off trying something new. The service is second to none, it just seems such a shame that they do not advertise the fact that they are open for lunch every weekday during December.
The White Onion yet again never disappoints....great evening with good food, service etc.
Very good food. Service is excellent and wines were brilliant. The staff really do make an effort to provide a dining experience. We will be back
Four of us dined on Saturday evening. Three of us were celebrating birthdays. The Service and ambience was great. The food took a long time to come and my husbands and my lamb course was terrible. I didn’t know that ‘fine dining’ restaurants served lamb with so much fat. There was no sauce on the dish which made it very plain. My husband asked for his lamb to be cooked ‘medium’. but both were served very rare. His was almost inedible. I would have complained but my son and daughter-in-law were with us and I didn’t want to embarrass them. The retrieval of our coats at the end of the evening was worthy of an episode of Faulty Towers. We won’t be going back in a hurry.
Brilliant as always. One of our favourite restaurants, never had a bad meal there. Excellent service, superb wine list. This time we had Parmesan Veloute, Game Tourte, Monkfish, Lamb Aisiette, Peanut Chocolate Tart - all excellent. Excellent St Veran and South African shiraz.
Excellent food, impeccable service and the lunch menu is amazing value. Thoroughly recommend White Onion
Fabulous food, discrete service, great for an intimate dinner.
Absolutely love this restaurant, one of the best around 👍🏻
The service was notably good. Friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. The food was underwhelming for the price. We had better at the Black Radish for less money recently. Quite noisy acoustics when full.
My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time for dinner on Saturday 10th November. We then had lunch at the better known Chez Bruce on Sunday. Long story short, The White Onion more than held it's own against the Michelin starred Chez Bruce and was in my wife's view a superior experience. The food was excellent (the crispy duck egg followed by the Assiette of Lamb was memorable), the service friendly and informed (if on occasion a tad slow as our table was out of the direct eye-line of most of the staff, good for privacy though) and the wine list varied and reasonably priced. The table spacing meant that the restaurant, though full, was bustling without feeling overcrowded. I recommend the White Onion very highly and will certainly return.
Brilliant restaurant. Regular visitor over several years. Food is consistently good and service friendly and efficient. Good wine list with interesting bottles. This time we had pigeon breast, Wagyu beef bravette steak and chocolate tart. All very well cooked and good flavours.
Lovely service and beautiful food. We went on a Saturday lunchtime and it was busy with a range of people from couples to families with babies. Staff are super helpful and attentive. One of favourite restaurants :)
I don’t live locally and was working in the area. This restaurant was highly recommended and it was absolutely up to the mark. Really enjoyed my meal
Have been here a few times and the food is lovely. This time the service was poor though, had to wait 20mins to order a cocktail and half an hr to place the food order. This meant we were waiting quite a long time to eat. A shame as it is otherwise a lovely place.
Excellent restaurant with attentive and knowledgable staff. Classic menu items with innovative flavours. Set lunch menu is outstanding and very affordable. I cannot fault it and appreciated the birthday touches. Highly recommend.
This is a real favourite for us in Wimbledon Village. Great food, excellent service and nice environment.
Always a hit with ever changing menu, friendly welcoming staff and innovative delicious food.
Our firm favourite.
We love this place. Amazing food and fabulous service.
Amazing as always - birthday celebration for my wife, attentive service and high quality imaginative food.
Overpriced for what it is. Food comes in tiny portions and a carafe of wine barely delivers 1 small full glass: serious mark up there! Would recommend Cote in the Village for a much better value and quality proposition. Shame because the staff is very friendly and attentive.
My second visit to this restaurant, first visit was for an evening meal and this visit was for lunch. Set lunch menu offers a good selection of dishes. All of the dishes we ordered in our party of 4 was lovely. First visit for evening meal was equally as nice if not a little pricey, but worth it.
Beautiful food and perfect service. It was a fantastic dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous meal. All three courses were first class. Excellent cocktails and wine list. Service was impeccable. Great value for money and great atmosphere. Our second time here and we will definitely return...soon!
Lovely evening out for our anniversary dinner; the budget is definitely in the "treat" category, but the food was superb and the service seamless, without being too much so. And the bread at the start was the best I have ever tasted.
Excellent place to eat. Would definitely go again. Well worth the journey
Food was tasty but very rich. A lot of the starter menu choices included mushrooms so not a lot of variety of choice. At fine dining prices we thought the food was not exceptional and did not look very appetising ( my fennel looked a bit white and slimy and the sauce in the squash for starter tasted good but looked thick and glumpy.) overall gastronomically disappointing. Service and ambience very good.
Our ninth wedding anniversary. Amazing food, as always. If you’ve not been, do go but be warned - it is not a cheap experience, but highly recommended.
Relaxed atmosphere, succinct yet interesting menu. Lamb was cooked to perfection and carrots were special. Good choice of wines. Service was good.
We had a great time for my husband birthday. Food was amazing, as was the wine, service was very good and not too intrusive.
My husband even had his dessert with a candle and Happy birthday inscription.
Special anniversary for us
Nice touch noted on our menu
The White Onion consistently provides great quality food and has an excellent selection of fine wines. The staff are helpful and pleasant and sommelier even knew which bottle of wine we had on our last visit so when we asked for a reccomendation between two particular wines he pointed out that last time we had one so should try the other, that was impressive. We visit here several times a year for an upmarket London restaurant feel without having to journey into London. We are so pleased this is a permanent staple in the Village.
I booked lunch for myself and my boyfriend for our anniversary and we had a lovely time. They had printed ‘Happy Anniversary’ on our menus which was a sweet touch. The set lunch menu hasa great selection of dishes and is an excellent price for the quality of food. I also had their signature cocktail ‘The Wimbledon Royale’ and it was heavenly!
Our 2nd visit was a great as our 1st. Fab food and great value set lunch menu. Good choice of wine and rounded off with a complimentary special birthday ice cream plate. Lovely touch. Will definitely be back when we’re in Wimbledon area again.
First visit - will return and recommend to others. Food superb, wonderful ambiance and energy, outstanding and most patient staff. Thank you.
Excellent as always. The White Onion has become our regular meet-up for lunch and we are never disappointed. Quiet enough to hear yourself speak and attractive food well-presented. The lunch menu is excellent value for three courses. I enthusiastically recommend - you won't be disappointed.
Another lovely meal at our favourite restaurant in the area. Perfect attentive and well informed service.
Nice little restaurant with good service and some very nice little touches. I let them know it was my wife's birthday and they printed off menus with her name at the top and served desert with happy birthday writing in chocolate around the plate. It put a smile on both our faces.
Ambience would have scored higher but we had a table that felt a little too much like it was part of the hallway. None of the other tables would have had that feeling
A little gem in Wimbledon Village .... fabulous food with an extensive wine list. We will be back !
