We went for a wedding anniversary, it’s stull casual, but smart enough to make it a nice evening out. We started with the duck egg yolk and the scallops and both were exquisite. The cod with aubergine & lobster and the suckling pig were also delicious. There was no need for dessert as we were already stuffed, but he had to try. The pineapple tatin and coconut rocher we delicious too but I was perhap too full to really appreciate it.
Over all it was a lovely night out, I’d highly recommend and we’re planning our return visit already, with friends this time.
Also worth checking out the cocktails!
Superb food, great service and lovely atmosphere. A gem in the heart of Wimbledon Village.
Spot on. Lovely location, interior, service, menu and wine. Everything nailed. Was my wife's birthday and it was the perfect location with great little touches, but not too much fuss. The special cocktail, bread selection and timing of all the food was perfect. Service was professional but not stuffy. Dessert was unreal (still full). We'll be back soon.
Had a lovely evening here last Friday, great ambience, food was delicious, reasonably priced wine and good service- what’s not to love?
The White Onion is a neighbourhood gem. We have dinner there at least twice each month - the food and service are consistently excellent. If you don't live locally it's worth a detour - you won't regret it.
Lovely restaurant with good food, ambiance and charming staff. We have always enjoyed this restaurant and have dined there on a number of occasions.
All round very enjoyable food, service and ambience. I am impressed that we were given the table I had requested.
An excellent spot for lunch or dinner. Good menu with some interesting ingredients. Presentation superb. And a good wine list. Can't fault it. Will definitely be returning.
FEEDBACK ALREADY SENT DIRECT TO THE WHITE ONION.
We dined with you last evening, for the first time.
The Rabbit and the Duck were first class. Congratulations on the quality of the food, the cuisine and the presentation.
The Service was faultless; in particular the high level of observation skills on the part of the whole cadre (special mention - Ellie)
One area for improvement - wine stock planning. With some considerable effort, I had built myself up to spending £47 on your Vacqueyras Domaine La Garrigue - out of stock!
So I pitched for the the Crozes Hermitage Vieilles Vignes - out of stock!
Settled for the Ventoux 974 Venturi, good, but not the excellence to which I had looked forward before the visit.
Thank you - we will be back, if you'll have us.
Great food in a nice setting in the village. Service was mixed but all very friendly and they tried hard. We will definitely be going back.
Exceptional food and service, highly recommended. Easily the best restaurant in Wimbledon, a contender for a top London spot.
Booked for a birthday meal. The service and food was excellent.
Very impressed by The White Onion. We wanted to try it, being big fans of its sister restaurant "The French Table" in Surbiton and we were not disappointed.
Very easy to book online and there was prompt personal follow up in advance. This was symptomatic of the service we experienced on the night which was of a high standard. Nice touches added for what was a birthday celebration meal included adding the celebrants name to the menus provided as we sat down.
The food was excellent. The goats cheese starter and monkfish main course particularly praised by those who ordered them but everyone enjoyed their dishes. Even the vegetable sides were delicious and showed the same attention to detail as the rest.
Good, varied, wine list to accompany the reassuringly restricted menu ( what they do - they do very well! ).
This was the second time we had been to the white onion and it didn’t disappoint again. This time we brought my parents and they loved it. Relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff and gorgeous food!
We have been coming to tWhite Onion for a number of years and it is one of our favourite restaurants.
Our meal was beautifully presented and served, the portions, for me and our guests were just right but my partner would have preferred them to be larger especially as he couldn’t eat all his duck as he found it tough.
For me both the starters and the dessert were delicious, but I was a little disappointed with the main course finding the Ravioli of celeriac very al dente but the flavour was wonderful.
The Prosecco and wine were, as always, delightful.
We had a lovely evening, thank you.
Absolutely brilliant evening for my wife’s birthday. Staff very helpful to food intolerances and food exceptional-Broccoli was amazing. Never thought I would ever say that about Broccoli.
Can’t wait to return.
A simply outstanding meal! The staff were wonderfully helpful - a friend is gluten intolerant and our waitress knew exactly what on the menu would be suitable and brought her gluten-free bread to have alongside our normal bread. Every morsel of food was delicious, with wonderful twists that elevated the plate to another level... just HAD to have a full three courses!! Great atmosphere, too.
Lovely restaurant! Friendly staff and delicious food.. Atmosphere is great too!
A wonderful time made even more special by attentive, well informed team.
We had a fantastic evening at The White Onion. We had a table in the window which was great and the staff were lovely, professional and extremely helpful. It was my wife's birthday and they added some special touches including a personalised menu. The food and wine were outstanding. We had scallops, venison terrine, duck magret and monkfish (plus a divine chocolate mousse) and it was all pretty much perfect.
Wimbledon Village is a great place for a night out and The White Onion is a real gem at its heart.
Excellent food - some very creative dishes all done very well. Service could have been slightly more attentive towards the end but no real complaints. Definitely on our go-to list.
Absolutely amazing - such great service, beautiful restaurant and completely outstanding food - so impressed and all for really good prices, especially at lunch. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and excellent staff and service. The only slight quibble - and it may be personal taste - but the dishes sometimes have too many ingredients and tastes on the same plate. May need to be slightly less creative maybe. Otherwise a very nice place to eat. Recommended.
Food was amazing, service excellent and wine list great!
Warm welcome despite being busy. Can't wait to go back!
I took my neighbour for a treat for her 87th Birthday. The staff printed out a Menu with 'Happy Birthday, Jean' at the top, and my friend was delighted with such a charming welcome.
The food was exquisite, a very pleasant place to lunch, and we'll be back again soon.
Wonderful food, wine & atmosphere, service & just great restaurant
A wonderful meal for my birthday: the staff were excellent, the food was delicious and I loved my birthday message on my dessert!
Really good atmosphere. Fresh food and a great service. Highly recommended.
Amazing food and wine. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again, very soon.
Very nice food, and excellent/attentive service. Portions could be slightly bigger for the money, but that seems to be the norm these days.... Would recommend.
Simply stunning from the first mouthful to the last.
Haven’t eaten a better meal in a long time, we all agreed, and great value
Wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable staff, excellent menu, however I had to send my beef main dish back as it was basically inedible. The rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
To give the restaurant it’s due they replaced the dish and did not charge us, however in the interim the side dishes had gone cold and there was no attempt to complete the whole meal.
good food - excellent service - cold night but enough people there for a nice atmosphere
Another excellent meal at one of our favourite restaurants. Service was attentive, friendly and efficient. The menu was brilliant. We had scallops oven-baked with cauliflower and miso puree and artichoke soup. Mains were veal sirloin with sauerkraut, which was tasty and unusual, and fillet steak with braised ox cheek. Sides of cumin buttered carrots and creamy mash. Chocolate fondants and ice cream for desert. The wine list is brilliant too - a lovely Grace Ridge Californian pinot noir went down a treat.
Simply delicious cuisine with very attentive service and exceptionally high standards. Got the window seat for the evening which subsequently helped me secure date number 4!! Will be back.
We very much enjoyed a fabulous Mother's Day lunch here which exceeded expectations as usual. The best lamb we have tasted, relaxing and comfortable atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff. We will be back again soon.Thank you!
Overall it was a great experience, with excellent food and great staff that were very friendly.
Really good atmosphere. Fresh food and a great service. Highly recommended.
Lovely dinner for partner avid friends. Great food and service.
This was our second visit to the White Onion and the food was even better this time than the last. I chose the duck egg starter because it was unusual. It was delicious and I would definitely have it again. My main was beef. It was thinly sliced and rare, which was perfect. The flavour combinations with it just added to my enjoyment. The set menu is very good value and shows plenty of imagination, which a lot of restaurants fail to give. Excellent experience!
