What Insiders Are Saying
As far as classic, good-for-everything establishments go, it’s hard to beat the Wolseley. The breakfasts here are an essential London experience.
Extremely poor service. Our table was not ready on time and we had to stand around and continuously explain who we were. The tables are all crammed in with little room. We were completely forgotten; waited 35 mins for our afternoon tea and had one pot of tea the whole time we were there. We only got our food because we alerted someone that we had been waiting so long.
Definitely will not return or recommend. There are lots of superior places that have staff that care and are the same price.
Good food and good service
Very busy and tables are close together, however this does add to the ambiance and upbeat mood of the place.
Great food and service
If you like greens with your roast this is not the meal for you. However the quality of the meat was delicious and when my partner was less happy with hers the whole meal was swiftly removed from the bill.
We were visiting from California and chose The Wolesley because we had a pleasant meal on our last visit over 2 years ago and was tempted by the Sunday beef lunch. The kitchen chooses to serve it thinly sliced, but it was barely warm, stringy and a huge disappointment. If I had been served this in a restaurant in California I would have complained about it, but as our British relatives were paying and I didn’t want to appear brash, I ate in silence and apologized for my choice of restaurant.
Please forward my comments to the restaurant.
One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Spectacular!!
Amazing food and beautiful building. Really enjoyed the lobster and the oysters.
One of the GREAT London restaurants. It never fails to delight.
The London breakfast institution cruises on perfectly - yet another great experience - my first choice in London for a top breakfast!!
Delicious as always. A very good hollandaise made using a good quantity of yolks, lemon juice and cayenne. Great coffee too.
very well prepared food in a very good location. I would recommend this experience to everyone
Oyster and a fabulous steak!
A very good venue at any time of day.An interesting menue.Friendly and helpful staff
A nice lunch
It was just okay. The food wasn’t special enough to warrant the price tag, in my humble opinion. Whilst the service was faultless (I cannot emphasise how great all the waiting staff were), tables are rammed close together meaning anyone being served - or wanting to get up from their table - risk toppling the table to the side of them. For a fine dining institution in such a beautiful locale, the fact that the ambience is dead (no piano, no music, for example) is actually very noticeable. I don’t think I’d recommend this place and was honestly a little disappointed after looking forward to it for so long.
Booked Afternoon Tea as a belated Birthday celebration for a friend. Two days before had to amend the booking from four people to five. They managed to do so, albeit with a change of time, which actually was better. Compared to other places in Central London, I think The Wolesley is good value for such quality, would definitely recommend
As always a good atmosphere and food but as got sat in one of the top tables services wasn't it normal high standard. A good lunch was had but not as good as previous times I have been
Very elegant British setting for breakfast, high tea or just a meal as visitors or with friends. Location is great as it is close to all, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park....
One needs to book in advance.
Grand decoration, good pancakes
Gorgeous art deco surroundings wrapped around old school stars!
The place was too noisy that like a market, everyone talks loudly and it was hard to enjoy the environment.if it was a small restaurant,it’s ok,but it’s not.the crab was good and fresh, salad with parrots was a little salty.steak was more than medium
Excellent as always
Went there after private viewing at Royal academy of arts. Excellent service as one would expect
It was my sister’s 50th. We were given a choice of table and looked after very well!
It is a beautiful place but I do feel that it is rather resting on it s reputation. The staff continued to chat to each other as we entered leaving us standing and you always had the feeling that leaving you with a great experience was not their goal as people would still continue to flood through the door. Our waitress was efficient and friendly and the food was okay but having been here several times now I think I would look for somewhere different for breakfast or brunch. That probably sums up our experience.
What a great place! Every time I go - it is buzzing, full of atmosphere. But staff are still on the ball - attentive and quick service. Food fabulous and cocktails and champagne rounded it all of beautifully
Dish of the day was lovely
The best black pudding ever. I found the service not as good and attentive as expected. Extra charge for 2 slices of bread (not even a basket) with the most expensive item (full English) on the menu.
Delicious food , wonderful , friendly , thoughtful service . It was a wonderful start to a two day London trip and I can’t wait for the next one
Always love The Wolseley. A place to feel in the heart of things and the smoked salmon is second to none!
Breakfast at the Wolseley should be a relatively easy thing to execute to a good standard. The food was good but the service could have been more slick. Simple things like filter coffee took a while to arrive and had to be chased once.
Got sat at table on the side of the dining room and staff seemed to forget us!
We had a lovely early evening meal on Saturday after the theatre. We were shown to the bar as we were a little early for our table. We did have to ask if our table was ready and we were shown to it about 15 mins late but that was ok. The service was very good and friendly , the food really nice. I had the Saturday special,Chicken Kiev which was a generous portion on a bed of delicious mushrooms. My friend had the Coq au Vin which was also really good and again a large portion. Our other friends had the salmon and the Schnitzel, they were super impressed.
Our only complaint was that it was very cold in the restaurant area , which spoiled it somewhat.
Best eggs Benedict in the entire World. I recommend them insistently.
Service was very slow and lacking any personal touch. Food was overpriced for what it was. Shame as I’d been expecting a lot more. Much better off going to the Ivy. Same sort of thing but much better food, service, and value for money.
Love it here. Beautiful building, delicious food and perfect service.
I have been coming here for the past couple of years and the service is brilliant every time. This is now the destination I choose whenever I have friends or family visiting London. They now have one at Bicester Village which is a real treat! The breakfast menu is the best (in my opinion) but lunch is also great.
Great place for Brunch. Kedgeree really good. Service efficient.
I had lunch at The Wolseley the other day with a friend and it's our "go to" place. Middle distance between us, good service, good food and a buzzy atmosphere. What more could we want! Can't wait to go back.
