What Insiders Are Saying
As far as classic, good-for-everything establishments go, it’s hard to beat the Wolseley. The breakfasts here are an essential London experience.
Quick and easy. Excellent kippers! Would come back again.
A London Institution that never fails
You can’t go wrong here. My favourite place. Must book!
Good vibe, the food is well executed, the menu is that of a French Brasserie, location and decor are outstanding. The wine list could be a bit more interesting, with a little research effort.
Lovely lunch, food was really good. Big portions. Would definitely recommend
Afternoon tea was a hit for my guests. But I’m Cornish raised and me thinks that clotted cream was curiously fluffy and white, and the cakes in general were a waste and the money would have been better spent on some takeaways from Fortnums next door. All said though, the ambience, the light, the buzz, its a magical place, and I felt lucky to experience it all.
Smart but relaxed ambience, good service and excellent food
One word: disappointing.
Such a beautiful space. Can get a little loud, though
Lovely restaurant door man so welcoming and made you feel special my mum didn’t feel well when we left and he was so concerned could he call a taxi or get her a chair so rare today to find someone that goes the extra mile must be very happy in his job a asset to the restaurant.
Lovely setting. Great service. Food was just ok. Not bad. Just average. Bloody Mary excellent!
Very nice pre ballet meal. Had grilled fish of the day and a Sunday roast beef. Not too expensive, really good food and lovely building. Staff always good
Everything was Perfect!
I’ve been here a number of times over the years and it isn’t the restaurant that it once was . Everything was ok but that’s about it really .. the food was ok as was the service but it’s starting to feel a bit dated , a bit tired and a bit blasé and it feels like they’re taking their customers for granted ...nothing to get excited about . Just ok ...
The scones are wonderful! Even the Restaurant were busy on this festive season we still delighted by the great service!
It's always a pleasure to dine at The Wolsey, although this time my experience was every so slightly marred by lazy waiting and a couple of dishes not being quite up to their usual standard. But hey, I still had a good time and will definitely return in the new year.
Fresh ingredient. Very good service
Great fun afternoon tea experience. Excellent service, very good food and generous amounts, and reasonable prices.
Inattentive and rather Unprofessional service.
Food was more or Less ok. French fries burnt
Excellent service. One of our guests was both dairy and gluten free and he was perfectly catered for. First class setting, service and food.
Booked table for lunch at 2pm, arrived 10 minutes early ,table not ready, so directed to bar to wait . called to table 2.25 pm starter arrived 2.45 ,and very nice it was too. main course arrived 3.00pm,and was very nice too. Waiter asked for table back at 3.25 !!!! ,no time for dessert and wine not finished. all very disappointing and expensive for one hours experience!!
We will not be rushing back.
An oldie but a goodie. Not as slick as it was, but still packed to the rafters with people queuing out of the door. Worth reserving to avoid the wait, and it's solid all round after that with a few touches of class along the way. My preference is for The Delaunay, but if you're in the St.James locale then it ticks most boxes for a quick bite, but yes they will be needing that table back, so definitely not one for lingering lunchers.
Lovely dinner in a beautiful room. Nice service for the most part, although the waiter sneered when we ordered the least expensive wine. The other server was quite friendly. Sunday night roast beef special was OK, but the accompanying potatoes were terrific. Did not care for cauliflower au gratin, but my wife liked it and her flank steak was good. Desserts looked good, but we passed. By the way, beautiful washrooms, too!
Been several times, always very good food and service, price at top end, nice ambience, tables near enough to chat with neighbours but far enough to be private also
We had a fantastic time here. Food excellent, waiter service excellent. This restaurant is a yearly treat for us and they do not disappoint..
Yet another amazing Christmas lunch with a friend.
Looking forward to next Christmass already!
Great place to eat with family or friends.
Lovely food great cocktails
Very relaxing place with a wonderful atmosphere
Tried lunch and dinner have yet to try breakfast and afternoon tea
Good place to have a working brunch. A good atmosphere but surrounded by loads of noisy tourists
ALWAYS FIRST CLASS FOOD AND SERVICE LEVEL. ESSENTIAL TO BOOK TO ENSURE A TABLE. VERY GOOD VALUE FOR CENTRAL London.
Although the Woseley has been open for awhile now, it still remains quite popular. It's a gorgeous spot with good food and service. There are fantastic food options at all times of the day, even breakfast.
Went for afternoon tea- top notch afternoon tea. Maybe a little more busy/bustling than you want for tea, but the food and tea were great.
Beware going here before an event. The Linen napkins and tablecloths leaves white marks and bits all over you. Disaster if you are wearing black - and needing to attend a formal function afterwards. When I complained I was told that there was a lint brush at the door that we could have used.
I was informed that they will not change their linen, so be warned - you will need to dry clean your clothes if you eat here. Apparently that's ok.
Lovely place to go for afternoon tea. Delicious scone, sandwiches, cakes and tea - and champagne! Very friendly service and atmosphere.
As always a great pleasure to visit coming from Copenhagen. I love the room , the atmosphere, the good food and the good service.
Homemade granola was good and it's nice to find a place that has goat yogurt. The rest of the breakfast menu is boring with eggs on every dish.
The front desk host is so unfriendly and rude, I have been there many times and he is just unpleasant.
Great atmosphere and good food,
Service a little slow but a busy time of yesr
Nothing more than a factory churning out very mediocre quality food. Service is polite and courteous.
I went with my Mum after our biannual visit to the RA . We catch the Christmas lights on Bond Street and Piccadilly then head into the Wolelsey for kedgeree , omelette Arnold Bennet and two glasses of champagne. Then I take my Mum to the train station and wave her off. It's a perfect day.
Delicious ..afternoon tea champagne ..my friend had the chopped liver she said best shed tasted since Blooms ...the service was perfect and friendly without being overbearing .Thank you x
Although we reserved, unfortunately we had to wait for an hour for our table stood at the bar. I felt like the wait was possible due to front of house staff forgetting about us, but it was an unfortunately experience as everything else was excellent.
