What Insiders Are Saying
As far as classic, good-for-everything establishments go, it’s hard to beat the Wolseley. The breakfasts here are an essential London experience.
Average at best
An excellent experience lovely food in stylish surroundings, the only mild criticism I would make was that it was impossible to get a 125 glass of wine the staff did not seemed to have been properly briefed on this
I booked this place for my sister who was visiting from Australia. We have dined here a few times before and its been a favourite. The food, staff, ambience didn't disappoint and it maintains our favourite restaurant in London, and ticks all the boxes.
Thank you so much for great dining experience. We will be back again soon :)
Great experience as usual, always good. The afternoon tea is very good.
no visit to London would be complete without a visit to the Wolseley
Kind & efficient personnel, splendid food, fine premises, premium location
Food was overpriced, salty, and horrible. The only thing good about this place is the interiors.
Iconic, fantastic location, beautiful historic building, The original Wolseley car showroom from the early 20th century
Had a bacon and egg sandwich. Bacon was burned!! I had a tight schedule so did not complain.
Wonderful evening - highly recommend for occasion or date night dining
Our 1st trip to London
Food is decent but service is terrible. They forgot our orders and we had a second waiter come and re take our orders. Next small things like tea refills and butter or sauces took awhile to be given. We were seated at a table in a smaller dining area where there were no servers in sight.
Location and setting are superb. The pastries/sweets were really good. However, the whole experience has been knocked down by the terrible service. The waiter was grumpy and missed out 2 orders out of 3. If there is a table of 3 for the afternoon tea how can you think the party has ordered only 1tea? I had to ask a different waiter who thankfully promptly reacted. But that was not over as during the afternoon the same waiter who missed out the 2 teas: 1) took away plate and napkin to one guest with no reason; 2)forgot to bring clotted cream and jam with the scones; 3)forgot to bring the bill and had to ask a second time to another waiter (total wait for the bill 40 minutes!). They charge you 12,5% service when the service is utterly embarrassing.
Having tried lunch, afternoon tea and dinner it was time to sample breakfast. A relaxing morning ambience , delightful professional staff, scrummy food and reasonable pricing. A great way to start a day in busy London. My clever NZ relatives sent me the perfect birthday gift voucher. Well done to the Wolseley team once again.
Front desk person was great about accommodating my later schedule.
Food was tasty as usual. Kedgeree was flavorable, fresh and delicious.
Service once seated overall very poor. The first wait person who took my order was lovely. But he disappeared. Perhaps shift ended?
The subsequent wait person was uncommunicative and primarily absent. Came by once to refill my water glass, so perfunctory and inattentive that he didn’t notice as he plunked down the pitcher that it splashed my hand.
And then he was gone and came back at the very end to run my card through the machine.
In the meantime, had to flag two separate waiters to eventually get my bill (which took about 10+ minutes).
And except for that water pour, no check-ins/follow up from the waitperson or captains or anyone.
Unfortunately, not the hospitable and competent Wolseley I remember.
Busy and popular eatery. Food is mediocre and not the greatest of value. Pleasant experience though.
Service was great. Was disappointed by the Salmon I had. My friend has the grilled chicken sandwich the chicken tasted like charcoal
Great atmosphere and good food. Always feels very special.
Service very slow—over 40 minutes for an egg.
A London classic for Brunch, excellent service and staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests as always. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
My friend and I had to wait 15 mins, but no seats available - so we just stood. Dull. Ordered ice cream for dessert, came as two lonely scoops. This is The Wolseley for heaven's sake-no wafer? No mint? Told by the waiter that's how it came; manageress able to bring 3 lonely wafers to accompany the lonely, melting, scoops. Why not bring a new dish, nicely dressed? Dear oh dear.
Consistently excellent, excellent in its consistency.
Breakfast is good. The service is excellent, their service mind is good. Always smile and come to ask you what do you want. This time I come with my partner for Anniversary and they give me a plate of bread which is delicious. ^____^
Very good as usual
Sicuramente uno dei più bei ristoranti di Londra.
We had a most enjoyable birthday lunch. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I advised the restaurant beforehand via email that it was my friend's birthday and they provided a personalised chocolate plaque without any reminder and presented it to the table. It was understated and very well done and much appreciated. Thank you for a lovely occasion.
Great place to meet friends and lovely buzzing atmosphere. Can’t understand how it takes 7 members of staff to serve one table! It makes for a feeling of chaos rather than a relaxing atmosphere and this was at a late lunch too. Food good though and would go again
Wonderful mothers day dinner. The meal - starter to desert was excellent. We started off at the bar while waiting for the table and the staff were attntve and engaging. All round excellent.
Amazing benedicts! It’s a must.
The best egg Benedict In london
Amazing breakfast as always. Love this place. Always visit when in London
One of my favorite restaurants in London. We had gluten free scones (pre-ordered) and a gluten free afternoon tea - wonderful!
Wolseley is one of my favorite restaurants in London for breakfast lunch or dinner / wish you were in nyc
It never fails. Superb on every front. Whenever I leave I cannot wait to go again. And I always do!
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!!
The service was very good but the food average. Nice place for Sunday lunch.
Overall we were quite disappointed Saturday night. Our booking was for 10:30. As the restaurant emptied out, the staff was much more interested in cleaning up and prep work than taking care of us. It was often difficult to get someones attention for water, wine, and in the end of the meal, the bill.
I ordered the Saturday night special, Chicken Kiev and the escargot starter. The chicken was overcooked, dry, and quite uneventful. Very disappointing. The escargot just ok. My daughter ordered the Veal Milanese and the Salmon starter. Both were outstanding.
I've been to the Wolsely many times, and will likely return, but not with the enthusiasm that I've had in the past. I would definitely avoid the end of night seatings.
The Wolesey never fails to deliver. It is an exceptional place with great atmosphere where great food is delivered with great friendly service . It’s as simple as that. A must if you’re in London.
The Wolseley has enjoyed and judging by the full tables is still enjoying its time in the limelight. However, I feel they are becoming arrogant and paying lip service to anyone making a complaint. A couple next to us asked for a desert and were told they had run over their time and gave them the bill. Whilst they were not wrong, there are ways to deal with this and I was not impressed. I will not be giving my money to them again any time soon.
Beautiful setting. Professional service. Excellent food. This is a well run establishment. Very pleasant.
