Snuck in on the last night beforelockdown. Only one other table in the restaurant but the staff were lovely, polite and prompt. Food was solid, especially the pizzas my son and wife had. My lamb shank and mash was nice.
I couldn’t fault it , staff were super friendly, food was amazing . The best brownie I have ever had . It was a treat as it was my birthday. Thanks guy’s!
In these difficult times it was easy to book a table on line. The lunchtime menu was good, as was the quality of the food. The service was friendly and excellent without being 'overly attentive'. The Woodman is in a nice, quiet and pleasant location with good parking.
Noise level much increased since my last visit. Food still good. Service slightly slow. One way system in place, hand sanitisers available
Super place, friendly staff, very accommodating.
Super food.
Felt very safe.
Will definitely return.
Really nice meal, staff are very accommodating, cant wait to go back
Food was awful. Carvary vegetables were mushy. Meet was dry ! And the potatoes where oily and tasted frozen although I was assured they wasn’t.
Terrible price for an adult carvery at this standard. Will not be returning
The carvery is realy good! It will became part of my family Sunday very often.
Worst meal I’ve had cavery was heated in microwave heard it binging a few times waste of money service was slow for microwave meals
Good value carvery with right level of care to be Covid safe
Went on Tuesday when eat out to help out scheme operating so very busy but to run out of garlic bread at 6pm very poor so didn’t have starters.
Main courses were quite small portions, food very average not really tasty and my daughters fish was clearly cooked from frozen so very watery and soggy batter.
Noise level high in back part would recommend trying to eat in front bit. Have been before quite disappointed this time.
They have however made lots of effort to social distance and keep system going well.
The restaurant has a nice, homely feel to it, the food was OK but nothing to rave about but the service was abysmal, seeing as there were only 3 tables in use the 2 staff members struggled to cope, some of the items we ordered did not turn up with the main meals, two of our party ordered the Salmon dish with seasonal vegetables but one of these was served with a side salad instead, when we complained they did bring us the vegetables which were overcooked, four of us had finished our meals before the two who ordered a pizza to share had even had their meal served. Maybe this was just a one off but would I ever go there again to find out? Probably not.
we waited over an hour foe the starter (garlic bread to share) the goulash was fine but arrived in an aluminium saucepan that was hot enough to. burn your hand. Not a good experience
Was okey apart from a customer kicking off at the bar area but was dealt with quicklu.
Then had to wait for desert for quite a while ended up asking where it had got to and was then promptly brought out.
Very nice, even though socially distancing, staff were very good.
waitresses were excellent from beginning to end of our time her. it was our first time but we will return.
we ate our food in restaurant area then went into bar with tv for a final drink and game of cards which was best of both worlds.
I picked this restaurant from reviews and location from google for a reuion of friends and we were very disappointed. The food was only just passable, 2 steaks that were ordered rare were served very well done and as the chef had left there was no point in complaining. The carvery had been on display since lunchtime and we were booked at 8pm. At 8.15 and were told that the chef left at 8.30 so if anything other than the carvery was wanted then it had to be ordered immediately. The waitress was very impatient whilst we were ordering and when she got it wrong she more or less blamed us. We would definitely not return or recommend this place.
This is the first time we came to the Woodman and it was amazing. We had a really great time and the food was delicious. It was quiet enough that we could have a talk but with music so you could sit back and enjoy.
first visit and very impressed. The only small criticism would be that the plates could have been hotter to to put food on. Excellent bottle of house wine.
