The Yellow House Bar and Kitchen in south London’s Surrey Quays near the shopping centre is a big, warm hug of a local bar and restaurant. The owner is on site and usually in the kitchen preparing one of three menus on offer: the restaurant menu, the grill menu and the pizza menu. The Yellow House had an earlier incarnation in Plough Way, but has moved to more intimate premises with a slick, post-Industrial vibe when it comes to décor, but still the same perfectionist’s attention to detail, relaxed ambience, warm welcome and passion about the food on the plate. Locals love this place. The Yellow House European cuisine offers dependable classics like grilled Scottish beef burger on ciabatta with hand-cut chips, thin-crust pizzas from the wood-fired pizza oven, and seared snapper with basil mash, minestrone and rouille. There’s a log-burning stove in the bar for wintry days and a great selection of wines and draught premium lagers.

I dream of Yellow House pizza. So lucky to have this place in the neighborhood. Jamie, Robert and the team are lovely, the food is great, and it's a lovely cozy space perfect for a drink, a date, or a night out with friends.

We had a lovely Christmas Day meal, perfectly cooked and served. Most pleased. My only wish was that there could have been a little more ambiance; a little live music, a conjurer, a quick Father Christmas visit. It was just missing a Christmas 'something'. but we were very happy.

The quality of the ingredients is always good at this restaurant. They still serve bread as a matter of course, which is something I miss when I go to other restaurants. The added bonus being that the bread is baked by the chef and is very tasty. I am a vegetarian and love their Lentil cake. It is moist inside and crispy outside. Vegetables are always cooked well and the deserts are fantastic. The trouble is I am often too full to eat them. I get round that by popping in every now and then and just having desert and coffee! There is a bar area which is quite funky and a good place to hang out.

I have an allergy problem and the staff were extremely helpful. One of the items on the menu was specially adapted for me. I rarely get that level of service elsewhere. The Yellow House is a neighbourhood gem.

I am a regular there and I love it every time. The staff is super attentive and they care. I usually come with my dog and they reserve me an area in the front so I can bring her along. Last time I went, I didn’t call to say whether or not I bring my dog. They held two tables for me, one inside the restaurant and one by the bar where dogs are allowed. That’s going the extra mile!

Friendly and relaxed. Great menu choice and the mains were delicious and different. Good wine selection with some intersting specials. We were disappointed by the desserts which didn’t live up to the mains. A creme brulee was unremarkable and 2 of us had the apple crumble which came cold, as was meant to be. Never had cold crumble in my life. We asked for it to be warmed up and well, it must have had 10 seconds in the micro. Not warm at all. Also the crumble was very crumble free - more like an open apple tart with a dusting of crumbs. Our waitress was friendly but rather absent minded and didn’t prioritise things like when we had to wait ages for our opening drinks because “the bar was busy”. I’d go back but would go for startes and mains and avoid the desserts.

This restaurant is lovely. We booked for a birthday lunch. All the food was delicious and came quickly. We brought a baby and forgot to say in the booking but they were very helpful, bringing a high chair, helping with the buggy and not making a fuss about anything. It’s a very warm family friendly place. Highly recommended local restaurant.

Great dinner as always at The Yellow House. Our party ordered a mix of main courses including steak, plaice, pizza and pasta and everyone was delighted with what they received. Add a well priced grenache for even greater satisfaction. We certainly did!

Very welcoming and friendly staff and good service. Went specifically for white pizzas as they are hard to find. First time visit in an area where there are few restaurants, so will definitely return and try other items on the menu.

The Yellow House is a fantastic local restaurant, which cares about food provenance. They have a grill, pizza and fancier list of mains. A great wine list, and a staff team that always offers a warm welcome. Recommended.

This was my second visit to the Yellow House and the food was as good as I remembered. It was a very busy night (The Shine Walk) and yet we were still seated and served promptly. The staff were very friendly, cheering the walkers as we left! The bar needs more staff on a busy night, but that’s my only negative comment. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

The Yellow House continues to be a hidden gem in Bermondsey/Rotherhithe. The food is excellent, the staff are wonderful and the cocktail list is great too! I moved away from the area a year ago and travel up from Kent about once a month to meet up with friends and enjoy a fabulous meal there. I would happily sit in the bar and wait for my friends to arrive - it's comfortable and welcoming.

Have been to the surrey quays on numerous occasions and tried most of the eating places in the area. for some reason the outside of this place never attracted me in - what a fool I was not to try it earlier.
All home made food - tomato ketchup and horseradish on the side to die for. We ate on two consecutive days and would have gone the following day if they weren't closing for their summer break. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection and top quality.
Can't wait to visit again when we are next in the area

Four of us needed a restaurant following an event at The Printworks. Not at all familiar with the area, The Yellow House is close by and had good reviews. Our meal there confirmed the good reviews are truly well desrved. Food was beautiful! And lovely service! Only sorry we don’t live close by, it would become a real favourite.

We visit this restaurant every time we are in London. The food is consistently excellent, thanks to the chef, Jaime Foa and his staff. We were greeted on arrival, and shown to our table quickly. Both Jaime and the manager, Robert, circulated among the tables, making sure things were going well, and just chatting. They always remember us too. The Yellow House is a special place!
