We got there on time for our reservation, however there wasn't any tables available so they allowed us to sit at the bar and offered us complimentary prosseco. Very welcoming, and the food was amazing. Light and tasteful. Proper Italian food and worthy of having a Michelin star.
Went for a special birthday celebration. One vegan person in attendance. V little acknowledgment of the occasion. Service pretty slow from wait staff. He’d clearly highlighted but manager chose to ignore. Seemed more that he was inefficient as no others were struggling with same #of tables. Impressed that they had both veggie and vegan menus. Dishes (non vegan friends also chose from there) were relatively bland for such bold veggies. Better use of herbs and proper seasoning could have helped for sure. Also no vegan friendly dessert options. Would you like sorbet or not? Is not an option.
No acknowledgement of the birthday until just before the bill arrived. Seriously unsubtle way to get a tip. Neighbours had similar experience with big anniversary.
£95 per head for 3 courses and 1 bottle of wine is not good value in my book for the quality of food received.
We went on a fixed price meal at 7.30pm. We thought the place might be a bit quiet but it was half full when we arrived & got busier. The menu choice was excellent & the food delicious especially the pasta & fish.
Unbelievable value for food if this quality. Thanks
The food was excellent, ambience not so good
Valentines set menu portion size a bit small but food quality and ambience was great
Fabulous food, excellent value. Will definitely visit again. Only negative is the decor of restaurant.
Food was good, the tortelli, the soufflé and bred remind me of the one I always have in the south of italy.
Worth going for a casual lunch if you fancy a bit of italian taste.
We have eaten here before but only as a last minute option, pre booking has to be the way forward, the level of service and attention to detail is second to none.
Went for a £35 three course meal that included half a bottle of wine each, outstanding value and the food was beautiful.
Will definitely be coming back.
Beautiful food in a lovely setting, with friendly and efficient staff. The opentable menu was good value and the food came in generous portions and was great value for money. Would definitely recommend and would visit again!
We enjoyed the fixed price menu with wine. As always the food was simple, well prepared and very tasty. The service was friendly without being pushy.
Had a wonderful time at Theo Randall at the Intercontinental. The staff are wonderful and should be commended on their customer service. Will certainly visit again when in London next.
Extremely disappointing food. Agnolotti’s filling was very tough. Guinea fowl was a massive portion (please, it’s not a canteen), but rather badly cooked: slimy skin on the outside and raw on the inside. Just bad.
3 courses and half bottle of wine for 35 pounds is simply exceptional value for money. Food excellent as always, atmosphere is ok but suffers from the complete lack of windows.
Over priced and underwhelming unfortunately. The wine was delicious but that’s the best thing I can say about our experience
Service was slow re drinks but food was almost too quick - starter arrived very soon after we ordered and main within two mins of starter being finished. Wine arrived after we had nearly finished starter. Wine choice expensive. Shame - was looking forward to it but wouldn’t go back
My husband & I had aperitifs in the bar in the restaurant - Negroni & Aperol Spritz- which were very good. Service throughout our visit was attentive & staff most pleasant. The restaurant itself was very disappointing- no atmosphere at all - lighting was too bright, table settings average - it didn’t feel very upmarket - just clinical & soulless. The food was ok but nothing special. Ok for a business lunch or dinner but in general thought it very overpriced & nothing special.
I love the food at Theo Randall. The ingredients are always fresh and the food is very innovative. I think it is one of the best Italian restaurants in London. It is also lovely and quiet, even when busy, I cant bear some restaurants where the acoustics are so bad you cant hear anything. The gin (from Lake COmo) and tonic was amazing!
High quality food made with simplicity with beautiful flavours and fine meat and fish. Well constructed plates and good portion size. Our waiter Sebastian and the sommelier Alberto both experienced in what they do and delivered excellent service. Looking forward for an excuse to go back !
There is much you could say about Theo Randall at The Intercontinental, but less is more. If you like Italian cuisine without any pretencious"cheffiness", then this restaurant is nothing short of outstanding. Theo normally does the rounds so you get to meet the master as well- and what a very nice guy he is. Please dont take my word for it. Try it. You'll thank me once you have
Took my husband here for his birthday. Food was lovely but what made the experience so good was the brilliant service we had by all who served us. Professional, attentive yet so friendly and warm. We only had the option of the brunch menu which is £49 for a buffet style salad/starter table, a tasting course brought to your table, a main that you choose brought to your table and then a plate of 4 sharing desserts brought to your table. You can pop back to the buffet table for breads and cheeses etc. We actually missed one whole table (!!!) and didn't realise til we saw a lady with some bread. We were about to have our dessert by then but sadly missed out on quite a few dishes. It was there I saw cheese and breads too. Free flowing Prosecco served throughout our lunch with the very enthusiastic waiter always ensuring we were never ever empty!!! Fantastic quality and price. Just one thing would really finish it off would be a tea or a coffee to finish added into the offer ;-) 100% recommend!!
Food was ok, not great. Service was ok, not great .Nothing exceptional or even beyond average , Just Average.
A lovely ambience with the level of lighting and background music just right for a relaxing conversation with dinner.
The food was of a high quality (lamb / sea bream) as expected and the value excellent (3 course set menu).
Drinks waiter very friendly and helpful however the food waiter surly and brusque - however not enough to ruin the evening.
Amazing as ever, the service was incredible, friendly, polite, affable. The food, as ever, up to the normal impeccable standards and such a pleasure to meet Theo himself. A gentleman whose nature seems to pervade the team. Perhaps I am biased as it is my favourite go to restaurant in London and, whilst others come and go, you can always rely on Theo Randall’s.
Everything was very good.
We had booked in advance for Christmas Day lunch for 4 of us. There were a few hits but rather too many misses.
Initially, the waiting team tried to seat us as a family of 4 at a high bar table right outside of the kitchen. We asked if they could move us to a more conventional table in the main body of the restaurant as there seemed to be good availability and this was done. It seemed odd to offer us the high bar table in the first place especially as I had paid for our meal in full before hand, the booking confirmed on receipt and no mention was made as to the unusual dining table to be offered or its location.
Service was a bit slow throughout the meal but the staff were attentive and helpful.
However, when our crab starters arrived they contained bits of crab shell and I wonder if sufficient attention to detail was paid when making them.
We all ordered the beef for a main course and had 2 excellent cuts of meat and one that was fair. However, the fourth one was terrible and should not have been sent out of the kitchen. When we sent it back, the replacement was at best fair. I would conclude that the kitchen had run out of the good cuts of beef.
The desserts were uniformly excellent.
The waiting staff brought us a complimentary glass of dessert wine which was much appreciated apologising for the steak.
However, on asking for our bill, we were charged the full amount even though I had paid for the Christmas lunch in advance. It was corrected but this was a serous error which could have led to us paying twice for our meal.
In conclusion, I think that there were some good examples of high quality cooking during the meal but I wonder if the kitchen was geared up to cater for the numbers coming for Christmas lunch (enough chefs making starters?) and had ordered in sufficient quantities of high quality ingredients (particularly the beef).
The mistake concerning the bill was troubling, however and I'm not sure if I will return.
A perfect Christmas lunch for a 3 generation family from California
Great, friendly well trained staff
Great food, we took a 4 course menu. Absolutely unforgettable service from Giovanni. He was the greatest server we ever had. Will defenitly come back. The rest of the staff was very good too!!!
Theos restaurants is probably one of London’s best in my opinion. If you know understand anything about fresh produce and where the ingredients is sourced from and what your ordering then you will realise the work that Theo’s team is preparing and presenting to you , food that is simply outstanding and in the heart of london. I have eaten in most of the best restaurants in the world. Theo is up there with the best if not the best .
Food fantastic, waitress fantastic, ambience not so good as tables very close together and more like a lower end restaurant set up. Overall a good experience
From the moment we arrived to the time we left the service, pre dinner drinks, food and wine choices and all those who looked after us made for a truly memorable experience.
Superb food and service. We booked a special occasion and were very happy. Food is out of this world, wait staff was old school professional. Well done.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, great good and equally impressive service.
It's been over 9 years since we were at Theo Randall's restaurant at the Intercontinental. We haven't been staying away it's just that long since my wife and I were in London together. It was even better than I remembered it. The food on the set menu was excellent and we ended up having 3 courses and a dessert and coffee. Couldn't fault anything. Relaxed atmosphere but very professional service.
We dined 7 of us on the sunday brunch , great choices on starter & main , dessert could be more adventurous but thats because i have a sweet tooth , ha ha, service was great by all the staff we were made to feel welcome and not rushed, unlimited prosecco was nice but could top up more as there was 7 of us , but overall we all agreed it was a lovely experience and woud go back anytime , also one of our guest main choice was not to her liking (nothing to do with the restaurant ) but without any fuss when they realise she was not happy they replaced it with whatever dish she liked, great customer service , FAB, CLEAN, GREAT FOOD & VALUE FOR MONEY
No thank you, never again.
Visited London for my wife's birthday and had dinner at TR whilst staying at the IC. A very pleasant evening with a very nice meal. My wife is vegetarian and ate off the vegan menu. I ate the sea bass which was like the vegetarian meal very tasty. Deserts were also very acceptable. Complimentary foccacia and bruschetta was a nice way to start. My only issue is with the price of wine. We don't drink much with dinner so 20 odd pound for two glasses of white wine seems excessive. Restaurant was busy but nice atmosphere and attentive service.
