Thyme and Lemon
Our drive and passion is to constantly serve our patrons authentic and mouth watering Basque, Catalan and Iberian classic tapas with our own unique and innovative twist.
We are a buzzing, casual and fun hangout with an awe inspiring interior, atmospheric lighting. High bars stools are arranged around a marble bar area, where you can eat and drink the night away. From here, you can almost taste and drink in the very essence of Madrid!
Traditional tapas appetisers are passionately created like croquettes, meatballs and fine Iberian ham and these classics are joined by delicacies such as fresh lobster and duck leg specialities.
Gracias y Amor from everyone at Thyme & Lemon

Nice place with a cool ambience to it. Perfect for a pre theatre visit.
Food was lovely, the calamari with lemon and chilli was an utter delight. Some of the best I've tasted.
Lovely tapas, some staple favourites with more unusual dishes. All the food was lovely. The ambience was relaxed but stylish, so great for catch up with friends or special occasion. The staff were friendly and good service. Will definitely go back again.
The menu is large and varied, and the food well prepared. Poerions are ample. Service was very good, but the room was cold despite heaters being turned on. Prices are quite reasonable.
Overall food is good. The service was friendly and they were good about taking a photo. However, on the website they advertise a 3 tapas deal for 12.50. We arrived to see a sign outside 3 tapas deal for 14.50. I wasn't amused. The waitress then apparently had no idea about the deal and went to check. Deal for 14.50. Fine, I note that the deal online was more restricted in choice anyway. We order, generally enjoy the food and get the bill. The deal was not taken into account. The waiter then says we should have let the waitress know. This annoyed me as I'm pretty sure she asked him about it. There was only saving c. 5.75 and had to choose 2 dishes from the sections. I've previously recommended this restaurant on another site but this experience annoyed me. They need to amend their website and educate their staff.
Really good service and food. Unfortunately we went when it was really quiet so we missed out on the ambience but the staff and food were fantastic. Would go back.
Enjoyable tapas with friendly service.
Could be a bit more authentic without much effort. For example, our tortilla seemed to have been deep fried or crisped up under a grill and was not at all runny in the middle. The iberico pork was excellent however.
The food was absolutely delicious especially the scallops. Unfortunately the service was bad and non attentive. We had to ask them for everything we needed like more drinks, dessert menu, bill. We were there nearly 2 hours so we weren't even rushing. I had also asked if it was possible to get happy birthday written on a dessert plate for my girlfriends birthday prior to the meal which they said they could do. But when the dessert came there was nothing.
A fantastic afternoon of tapas and wine; friendly service and reasonable prices. A lovely find, right in the heart of Islington.
Pleasant relaxed atmosphere, willing service and well prepared tapas make this restaurant a good and convenient option for casual or pre/post theatre dining in this part of Islington
Interesting food options that ranged from good to delicious, but on the pricey side. I can't commend on the drinks list, as it was a non-alcoholic night for me and my friend. I would definitely go back.
Nice food and OK service, we had a tastecard so would've been a bit pricey without this.
Excellent pre-theatre menu before popping round the corner to the Almeida theatre
Lovely place and delicious food! The service was outstanding! For a casual occasion, would go again and again and again. Loved it!
I would recommend to a friend, but on a Sunday afternoon it is not very busy & lacking a little atmosphere
Good food. Service ok. This restaurant is a mainstay of ours. It's now run by a different crew and they need to still get the timeliness of food service as good as it used to be; but, don't let that put you off as it is a good place.
The service was ok, one dish arrived 20 mins after the rest. The food however was so average. Nothing felt authentic or made with any love. The same generic sauce covered a lot of dishes (tomato and some spices) . Bella Pasta of Spanish restaurants. Very disappointing
I have been to Thyme & Lemon before with my boyfriend and we have subsequently taken a number of friends as we loved it so much. I most recently went on 28/07/2017 for dinner (around 7pm). The service was not ideal as our waitress messed up our order meaning that we got food in the wrong order and we were brought a number of dishes that we didn't order. Unfortunately this meant that by the time we had all our food, a substantial amount of it was cold. One of the dishes in particular - the steak - was not pleasant and was fairly fatty. We have had this before and the presentation/cut was different and definitely far better. As always, the stand out dish was the arroz negre which was absolutely divine.
Thyme & Lemon remains one of my favourite restaurants on Upper Street but this particular visit just wasn't quite to the excellent standard that is usually delivered.
Good food pleasant atmosphere. Staff very pleasant.
2nd time I've eaten here in a comparatively short time and both times it's been great. The food is tasty and nicely prepared - the bread is delicious, always a good sign - and there is plenty of choice for veggies and meat eaters alike - my friend had the lamb chops and said they're delicious. The atmosphere is lovely, good music playing in the background without being intrusive, friendly staff and clientele. We'll definitely be back.
The venue itself is a nice spot, not too busy, and the staff were attentive. However, the food was not up to scratch - a bit oily and lacking in flavour.
An imaginative menu with old favourites such as patatas bravas and also tapas that was new to me such as ricotta gnocchi. Nicely presented and tasty.
Been here a few times. The service is generally slow. The last time we visited we had to ask where our drinks were after waiting for a long time. Then our food arrived... eventually. Even then it seemed to come two courses at a time with about 10 minutes in between. Not really a great tapas experience. I don't like having to repeatedly ask where my food and drinks are. It wasn't even busy. Shame really as the good was delicious. Always seems to be the service which lets the place down.
Great lunch out with 6 people. Staff were friendly, food was good (but a bit pricey). Happy to recommend to others
One word.. Amazing
Food was good and good value for money but service was terrible
Really great meal to celebrate my partners birthday. Thyme and Lemon staff couldn't do enough to make us comfortable and the food was superb.
Super tasty tapas! Came for our friends birthday and enjoyed all our options. Also liked the thought through gin menu! Fun buzzy atmosphere.
Great Tapas place. The food and wine were excellent and enjoyed a really lovely time there. Staff super friendly too!
A great place to enjoy a birthday meal. Lively place, friendly staff and generous food (larger portions than most tapas restaurants: 2 dishes will fill most tummies!).
Very tasty tapas and not too expensive although portions slightly smaller than some other places. The red wine we had was gorgeous (the second on the menu). Service was good but we were in a corner so was a little tricky to be served but I think that was just because of where we were sitting, would have been nice to be sitting in the main bit or outside if you get to choose. We would recommend.
Great food, great service, great ambiance. Feel the hustle bustle of the waiters and waitresses rushing around, but still feel you have your own little world to enjoy a little romance with your date. Friendly service is always on tap and so is the filling up of your wine glass. Top marks for an evening out.
Definitely not the best tapas in London, food is plentiful but didn't taste particularly fresh.
This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. The first, pre-theatre (it is around the corner from the Almeida). The second was lunch with a friend. After the first time my partner and I so enjoyed the food that we vowed to return. The second time was equally good and I think my friend was impressed. The mussels are not to be missed I want the recipe!!!!
Excellent atmosphere, really good value and filling food.
Excellent choice for vegetarians as well.
Amazing food! Best tapas in Angel, and possibly whole of London.
Lovely restaurant and great staff. Definitely a place where you can bring your better half 😎
we loved it. super fast service for tapas. everything we ordered was great.
great tapas, the
wine (a carafe) was so so, but i could have chosen better.
Great restaurant with excellent food and attentive service. Incredible value for money too and will definitely be back.
Very enjoyable lunch/brunch. Authentic , friendly and good food. Very reasonably priced. Good friendly service. Can recommend.
The best tapas restaurant I've been to in London for some time. Tasty, fresh and inventive dishes, attentive service with a welcoming décor and atmosphere. Not too pricey either. I do hope T& L make a success of their new restaurant, as Upper Street is notoriously competitive, but they're the best Spanish offering in Islington by a mile so I'd be surprised if they don't. Book now!
