Afternoon Tea in the Palace Lounge at The Rubens Hotel
So sad that Tiles has closed. I had so many lovely times there, including the night my wife and I first agreed to live together. The end of an era :-(
We went on the day Tiles was closing down! The menu was a bit limited, but the food was great and the staff were lovely.
Beyond disappointed. This restaurant was evicted and the day of our reservation was the last day. The chef didn’t show up and there was no food. We were planning lunch before theater. Can’t believe I wasn’t informed.
We went to Tiles for a pre-theatre dinner before seeing Hamilton. We chose it for its proximity and the previous reviews. It was a perfect choice: the service, food and ambiance were exactly what we wanted.
Excellent location for Victoria station, cosy interior, great value with the set menu, great service and food.
A cosy little restaurant a stone's throw from Victoria with very nice food. Really good and friendly service. I'd definitely return but sadly, the restaurant is closing down soon, as their lease isn't being renewed. What a shame, as it was such a nice change from the usual chain offerings in an increasingly corporatised area.
A lovely lunch with work colleagues. Sad to hear that the restaurant will be closing in the coming weeks due to another mass development in Victoria.
Lovely atmosphere and food was great! Had a wonderful evening. Thank you!
Pleasant quick service and good food. Neighbourhood atmosphere near Victoria station
Old friends who only meet twice a year
Good value pre-theatre meal. We both enjoyed calamari followed by the fishcakes with a side order of sweet potato fries. Would definitely recommend!
Service, food and ambience were brilliant, we had a table downstairs for our big party of 10 and was very quaint - food ordered was brilliant. I would highly recommend this restaurant as it is not anything or remotely pretentious just a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would visit again.
What a lovely little restaurant. The service is relaxed but efficient; meaning you get what you want but don't feel they are intruding.
Menu options are great, including vegetarians but not good for vegans. May be worth a quick call as I expect they would be accommodating.
I really enjoyed my evening there.
Exceptional value for money. We had the pre- theatre set menu - the food was hot, on time and very tasty. Large glass of wine included too! Great!!👍🏻
A nice lunchtime meal with work colleagues.
We hadn't been to Tiles for quite a while and were very pleasantly surprised that it was as good as ever. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We particularly liked the Welsh sparkling wine and drank a little too much of it!
Bit disappointed with the food at Tiles this time. My friend and I had a late lunch with the £10.95 deal. The chicken I chose was rather dry. My friend didn't complain about his gnocchi but they didn't look that appetising either. Still the waitress was nice and there is always nice wine to be had for a reasonable price.
I love Tiles. Good food, excellent wine list, friendly service. Please don't expect anything grand, it's a small space with formica tables. The menu is limited. But for a relaxed atmosphere and good value just round the corner from Victoria Station it's my top choice.
Overall dated. Food very average. Service poor. Will not return
I've been coming here for years, a trusted and welcoming place with decent food and wine where you can enjoy a conversation without having to shout, which is becoming a bit of a rarity in the Victoria area these days.
Tiles is a good old-fashioned restaurant and wine bar opposite the new development in Victoria. Service was efficient, friendly welcoming but unobtrusive. There's a short menu of very tasty wholesome food. I had fish cakes which came with a green salad with plenty of chill (great); my guest had cod. We both enjoyed. We enjoyed some good house wine by the glass and scrumptious cheesecake. All in all, nice simple and an antidote to all the plate glass going up around Victoria. I'll go again.
A customer of over 20 years including for special occasions. Never disappoints.
We enjoyed a very nice pre-theatre meal. Nice comfortable relaxed ambience, great food and great service. Would highly recommend. Downstairs looked like it would be a great place to relax post dinner with some jazz and a drink.
Had an excellent dinner, our hostess/server was delightful!
Hard to tell the ambience, as was quite empty (early on a Wednesday evening) however, the staff, food and decor were all fabulous. We had a fantastic evening celebrating our mother's birthday! 🤗
The food was excellent and great value. Lived the grilled goat cheese salad and the smoked haddock and salmon fishcakes. Great little place to eat before heading to the theatre to see Wicked
Lovely to come to this long time establishment . Always a pleasure.
We have been to Tiles a few times while in London and enjoyed it very much..They were so kind and seated us early as we had a full day in London sightseeing and wanted to get to bed early. The house wine and food was very good and we will try again when we return in the future. It is so near Victoria Station Underground and Buckingham Palace that it makes it a great stop for a glass of wine and a good meal .
Love this place, great location, great food, great service.
Upstairs was incredibly noisy when we arrived but a quiet table downstairs allowed us to catch up over a very tasty meal. Lovely staff were helpful, welcoming and attentive.
Very enjoyable meal. The staff were great. I would certainly go back
Hadn't been to Tiles for a while but on this occasion the food was very disappointing.
Booked in a rush for a pre-theatre gig. The set menu 3 courses and a glass of wine went down like a house on fire with the group. The fish cakes and chicken escalope if you are hungry. I had the gnocchi which was far too creamy, but still filling.
We 3 caved in for another glass of wine before departing.
Although the strangely detached maitre d' or another member of staff failed to acknowledge our departure (I do think it's important for a restaurant/ brasserie to bid fair well to guests otherwise it feels like over priced fast food) I think some of us might just go again.
Btw it gets very busy at 7pm so definitely book a table if arriving then.
It turned out to be the best part of the evening.
Good food, well priced. Wine is a bit expensive. Downstairs bar seating is very cosy. Good if you want to chat.
Have been going to Tiles for many years
The style reminds me of France and so good to me made so welcome and such a change from all the chain eateries
I have been to Tiles dozens of times. It is my favourite place to go in London for a meal or a drink.
They are so welcoming, the music is not intrusive, and it is cosy. The food is consistently excellent - last time I had the chicken from the theatre menu and it was superb. The wine list is extensive enough to please everyone. The sparkling wines from Penarth in Wales are a great discovery.
Oh, and the coconut chocolate cake was scrumptious and indescribable. It was that good.
It's a stone's throw from a couple of theatres and less than five minutes' walk from Victoria Station.
Go and enjoy!
have been several times and never disappoints - good quality food, unobtrusive and friendly service
I have a dinner at Tiles at least once a month. The staff are always friendly; the food is always reliable; it's a great location near Victoria station; and a great place for a social chat or business discussion.
Very welcoming staff. Very wide ranging menu and great choices. Food came quickly and was hot and tasty. A lovely lunch thank you I will be back!
As ever, I had a wonderful evening at Tiles. I have been coming here for years and I have always had excellent food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff are unfailingly lovely. I highly recommend Tiles.
