I was there with friends to watch the US Women's World Cup. Lots of TVs, great selection of food BUT, only high-top tables where the televisions are. It would be a great place to catch sports on TV, and I would feel comfortable going there alone -- without lower seating, this will not be possible. I stood through most of the game. The stools are too high and extremely uncomfortable for someone less than 5'2" tall. This is advertised as a sports bar, unfortunately not everyone can enjoy sports there.
Good experience as usual except for the server who was completely inattentive. He spent more time talking to the hostess and other servers hanging around the hostess stand than even checking to see if we needed anything. Nearly 10 minutes to pick up the check when it was ready for pickup seconds after he dropped it off
Despite the missing salmon from my salad being a big disappointment, the food was delish. I am coming back for the buttermilk horseradish dressing. My friend's burger looked good and it was devoured, s apparently it was! Thanks fir the cheesecake.
Everything from our service to the food was phenomenal!
The BBQ was excellent!!
1/2 off hamburger night, great value and really good
Great time for a group night out. Good food and excellent drinks, everyone got what they wanted. We didn’t feel rushed, service was attentive but not rushed.
Food and drink where great. Staff was subpar and ambience and tables were dirty
It was a pleasant experience, food arrived quickly, quiet and atmosphere was nice.
Good time, food was good! However we ate at 7 pm and the decaf coffee rated like it had been made that morning. Everything else was great! Loved the Chesapeake Chilen and the doughnut for dessert
We chose T.J. Stones to celebrate my birthday on a Monday night. Service was on point, the food came out hot in an appropriate amount of time, and my mojito was perfectly crafted. We loved the half price burger menu, which my husband and daughter ordered from. I had the Chicken Chesapeake, which was pretty good, though it could have been a tad more flavorful. I was able to pick out a complimentary dessert for my birthday which was a nice surprise!!
We had 5 in our group. Two ordered the BBA and enjoyed it. One had a burger and the other two the salmon. The hamburger was reported to be good and the two with salmon really enjoyed that. I like the option of different sauses for the BBQ. The beer selection is great.
Wife asked if she could order the omelet with egg whites and was told yes. Then waitress returns and says they are out of egg whites. So no eggs in the kitchen? Very strange. Manager eventually made it right and offered to buy us dessert.
I found this place on Open Table and it was a very nice surprise. We had brunch and I had the eggs Benedict, wife had the salmon salad and she enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend this and it is well work the little walk from King st.
Great Mother’s Day brunch!
Mother’s Day brunch
The place looks nice. We order the BBQ Pork and it was too sweet. We also order the BBQ Brisket and it was tough, undercooked and dry. We order some Pinot and that was excellent. The device is not bad but the food is terrible.
Our last night in town and we wanted something off the King St section. Good choice by us as T.J's had more beer brands than we could think of, better food than expected and a very courteous server.
Will visit again if in the area. Definitely recommended!
I arrived early and began alone with my laptop, an appetizer and a cup of coffee. The restaurant easily accommodated the arrival of four more people for a meeting and we all enjoyed our food. Finally we moved to the bar area and enjoyed friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend.
We reserved a table for a Birthday Celebration. However, the Birthday was not acknowledged and we were not offered dessert. The poor waitress was trying to cover many tables, so we did not have the opportunity to ask about dessert. Good food, but need more staff to be able to handle guests personally.
The food was delicious! Service was excellent, and free parking after 6 in the lot across the street.
The food was HORRIBLE as was the service. I have never experienced bad barbeque before until Saturday. Everything I ordered was horrible.
We went for Easter brunch and the place was fairly empty. Prices were reasonable and service was good. The food was just, whatever. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either.
We had not visited T.J. Stones in a couple of years after some underwhelming visits but decided to give it another try.
First of all, when we arrived, the first thing that we discovered was that the place is filthy and is way overdue for a close-down for deep cleaning and remodeling. After passing through a littered and dirty entrance, we were accosted by an unpleasant odor. We were then shown to a booth but had to wait until a waiter cleaned the unsanitary table. They don't provide table cloths or even paper place mats, so the utensils sat on the grungy table.
OK - so the place was dirty, but we thought that maybe they have an outstanding wait staff and great food. Unfortunately, the wait staff and management were very friendly but sadly, they appeared overwhelmed - and the restaurant was fairly empty at the time we were there.
I'm still not sure why we didn't just get up and leave but we stayed on and ordered food and drinks. The good news is that they serve some great draft beers, their onion soup is very tasty and their wedge salad is huge and very well prepared.
Stop there and don't order the Calamari Fritti which was so salty as to be inedible. The onion rings were a mushy glop. And the French Fries on my wife's soggy BBQ sandwich were literally cold.
Bottom line - don’t waste your money on this place.
Good neighborhood spot for a burger and a beer. It’s burgers are reliably tasty and the beer list is more than sufficient to please all but the hop snob. Service is friendly. Tables could do with some of the decades of grease being cleaned up.
We got there about 6:20 on Saturday for 6:30 reservations and were seated immediately. Very friendly hostess; friendly atmosphere. Our server approached us quickly and brought water. I was feeling indecisive about what type of drink to get. He could have been a bit more helpful with suggestions, but he was absolutely pleasant nonetheless. We ordered a side dish as an appetizer--fried zucchini--which was fine but nothing great. (I think it was pre-made/frozen.) I ordered the salmon with asparagus and risotto; my husband got a burger. Our meals were delivered promptly and hot and they were delicious! We shared a chocolate lava cake which was fabulous. Service was consistent, friendly and sufficient even though the place filled up right after we arrived. Glad we found it on Trip Advisor; we will return!
Good food and nice environment. We ate in the dining area but bar looked good also. Our service was mediocre as I had to flag down wait staff to get our drink orders and some of our food order was messed up and never input into the kitchen. Thankfully we were not in a hurry and the management comp’d us the late food.
TJ Stone was a good experience. A good bar scene, kind of loud but not distracting, and the food was good. It isn't a `fine dining restaurant' but it's good quality and the staff makes up for it with good service. My wife & I will be trying TJ Stone again soon. Thanks much!
Customer service takes on new meaning for restaurants during holidays and special events. St. Patrick's day was no different. Specialty menu for the day was good ... but not the usual "outstanding" I would give T.J. Stones.
T J Stones is the most underrated restaurant in the area. It is reliably tasty and in our opinion has the best barbecue in Old Town. During the cold months it is especially cozy in the main dining room with the large fireplace and rustic decor. We love it!
Waitress was new, so service wasn't totally on-point. That said, we all have to learn, and her customer service skills were good. She tried hard. :)
My friend had the salmon special and was happy with the portion size and taste. I had the fish and chips and substituted the spinach for the fries. The spinach was VERY garlicky - probably too garlicky for most. I enjoy garlic, so all was good.
Manager came to check on us and other servers tried to help out ours as she was new. Can't ask for much more than that. Overall, I'm happy to give 5-stars.
Grill cook last Mon evening needs more practice. Ordered two burgers - one well done, one medium rare. Well done burger was sawdust, and medium rare was raw inside. Server seemed reluctant to approach our table to deal with remedies. Replaced well-done burger with a medium rare burger, so we had to ask him to microwave it to suit customer taste and order. Previous meals here have been much better, so we'll try it again, but not anytime soon
Great casual restaraunt with a nicely laid out dining room. The well-maitained fire in the fire place added to the ambiance and warmth on a chilly February evening. Service attentive, food was good, beer menu spectacular.
My family loved the food and atmosphere. Our kids are picky eaters but they enjoyed everything.
Would not recommend the Chesapeake Chicken, but everyone else’s dishes were great!!
Good food as usual. Great service. Staff very friendly.
Not up to its usual standards. Service was split between 2 servers which led to a few errors. Food was good but the ‘special’ was finished by 6.45.
T.J. Stone is a great place especially on Mondays, 1/2 price burgers!!! Since last Monday was a holiday, I stopped by earlier than 5 pm. and find out that they did not have the burger menu yet and also it was full price. May be they can consider having burger menu and 1/2 price burgers all day??? Thanks!
We went here for restaurant week, and we were blown away by how yummy the food was for the restaurant week deal. We will definitely be back!
