Lovely food and great service. Bit quiet for a Monday in August - perhaps you should do some offers to get punters in and create more atmosphere!
Good ambience and choice of food.
One negative is the service provided. Waitress forgot parts of our order and even little things like when we asked for milk for the tea.
Extremely slow and confused service.very disappointed with the food. Waste of money
Disappointingly average. Booked a tasting menu that they were not offering on the day due to supplier issues.
Truly the best eggs benedict we have ever had. The prawn and crab and the ham and truffle. And we have tried a lot worldwide! The hollandaise was sublime not sickly like it often is! We will return.
Charged me for 2 items I didn’t receive. Didn’t realize until I got home. Poorly trained waitstaff. Amazing ricotta appetizer.
Great venue, super service with all staff ensuring everything is in order and genuinely seem to care about your experience as well as food quality.
Great spot in Chelsea for breakfast! Staff were very friendly and we had the best service. Highly recommend!
Hadn't been for two years, but it was at the same standard as before. Great for brunch, albeit always very busy. Service didn't suffer, though.
We ordered 3 steaks which were so tough they were barely edible. One was particularly bad, which we were refunded for. The fourth meal, pollock, was unpleasantly salty- it completely dominated the dish. The staff were attentive to the point of annoyance- interrupting conversation repeatedly and physically putting themselves between us
We had a fab waiter but the maitre d/a more senior waiter was very overbearing and a little off putting. Otherwise the food was good, and it was a very enjoyable evening
Table service was attentive, which made it a pleasure. I had the opentable menu for GBP20 with prosecco, which was pleasant. Tried the gin as well, which was pleasant. My partner ordered the flat iron steak, which had a very strong smell and felt abit "off". Upon feedback to the staff, we were told that this was normal due to the age of the cut. We did not like the steak at all - would not recommend it. I had the runs and had to go to the bathroom twice that evening upon returning home. So in conclusion, good table service, good value for the opentable menu, avoid the steak and there is a chance of getting the runs.
Having eaten a various Tom's restaurants a number of times before I knew the food would be good but the service on this visit was beyond poor. I've given 1 star as it wouldn't let me score it zero.
we arrived 10 mins beyond our 2pm reservation but we're immediately told the kitchen would be shutting soon and we needed to order "very quickly or we wouldn't get any food".
We proceed to order immediately (the waiter actually remained at our table from seating us, watched us read the menu and choose - no time to spare!) and the food arrived promptly, where the service took a real turn for the worse was the waiter practically starred at us throughout the lunch and rushed us out as quickly as possible, wine glasses filled to the brim quickly to ensure the bottle could be taken away, the person I was with actually requested we leave ASAP as the waiter was making them feel uncomfortable actually being there!
Disappointing experience when a quick lunch for 2 people (no deserts - didn't feel like we had time!) with a bottle of wine came to £137
We went there last time and it was really enjoyable that’s why we went back within a few weeks. This time the water didn’t even give me the set menu that’s was advised in the open table. She gave me two menus and said that’s all they have no other menus even though I keep asking. In the end I show her the set menu on the app she suddenly say, oh that, yes we do have that menu. I think the restaurant has been very cheeky for not offering that menu from the start and even I keep asking she won’t give it to us. We ended up didn’t even order from there anyway it but the feeling were gone. Very bad service in my view. Would never go back there ever again. Bad service all the way.
Fantastic evening. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The flourless chocolate cake desert is not to be missed.
Used the open table 2 courses for £20 deal with a cocktail/Prosecco. The portions included were huge, which was a pleasant surprise, as often with set menu deals the sizes are significantly smaller than those on the a la carte. Both of us had seriously tasty, fresh food, and we couldn’t fault a thing.
Service is also extremely friendly and there is a total lack of the pretension that is unfortunately present in many of its Chelsea neighbours. Just fantastic all round - we will be back!!
They shouldn’t have taken an 8:30 reservation- when we arrived and checked in they said the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. We had to rush to order. The food was not good - my medium rare steak was very over cooked and my salad had too much dressing. Like they rushed to prepare it. Then we had to listen while they noisily but away silverware etc while we ate. Again, they shouldn’t be taking reservations so late if it doesn’t work with how they run their restaurant. We won’t be going there again.
Missed items in the order, desperation to be served and an excuse that a private event "upstairs" was the principal cause. Could be a great local but being greedy and serving too many covers at once on a kitchen that's not geared up for it ensures all diners suffer.
Will go back once more and see if this one night was an anomaly, I hope so.
Service was terribl. We waited 10 minutes before getting the menu.
Two of us went to Tom’s for a pre-theatre dinner at 6ish and booked the opentable £20 menu for two courses + bellini, which ended up being £35 inc wine and service. Great food and carefully presented and very attentive service. The ambience was cold because it was early, but the restaurant is very good regardless. Would definitely come back. Thanks
Normally I am a fan of Tom's Kitchen but this time just did not cut the mustard. We turned up (having booked) to be told that "open table made a mistake" and shouldnt have taken our booking. there were multiple tables free but we were made to wait by the door like lepers who weren't welcome. upon being shown to the table we ordered a gin and tonic (without lime and with fever tree tonic) only to be given a gin with lime squeezed in it and a schweppes tonic. the service was haphazard (we were offered desert menus before our main had arrived). for £60 a head for 2 courses a glass of wine i would say i would expect a lot better and feel let down.
Great staff, great food
Had an excellent lunch whilst on a short break to London. We chose to share a number of smaller dishes, sort-of tapas-style, and were really impressed. Everything tasted incredibly fresh with a great combination of flavours. The ricotta cheese and grated slaw salad are particularly recommended. For dessert, one of us had the white chocolate mousse, and thought it was amazing. The other went for a selection of cheeses - all British and none of which we had come across before. All were fantastic.
The wine list is good. Many wines are available as a 500ml carafe - great if there are two of you and you don’t fancy a full bottle at lunchtime.
The service was excellent. Not too fast and certainly not too slow - just right for enjoying a leisurely lunch. The restaurant space itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. The decor has a slight ‘industrial’ style, yet also felt quite cosy. Noise levels are low.
Given the Chelsea location and quality of food, prices are perfectly reasonable.
The food and wine are both nice but very expensive for what you actually get. Nice but not worth the cost.
Staff exploited no doubt as overworked and exhausted but sweet fairly long wait for table and they forgot was a birthday lunch but chaotic need more staff
Great restaurant but service was abysmal.
Delicious food and a great venue. The acoustics in the restaurant aren’t great though, it makes it very loud and difficult to hear your conversations.
We were very disappointed with the experience at Toms Kitchen. The staff were friendly but the meal was of a poor quality - will not return!
We had breakfast which was very good but the plate was too small - it was difficult to eat from! I would recommend this place but the service was a little off. Timing was good but generally staff were not that friendly. Nobody seemed to smile, and they barely noticed when we left.
Very bad service
The service there was really good like being in France. The food is also excellent. Enjoy it very much.
Although food was great, unfortunately the service was a let down. Really bad. We were seated upstairs which wasn’t great. Service was very slow and forgetful. We kept asking for our water and our mains arrived 45mins after our starters and that was because they had forgotten about our order. Very disappointed in this place.
Food was good, however service was all over the place and poor. Very disappointing experience
Visited Tom's Kitchen on Mother's Day. Was shown to a table upstairs which is never a good start. Downstairs restaurant was lively, upstairs was almost empty. Service was very random. My daughters Fish and Chip's were cold. These were returned twice before she received a warm plate of food. 5 minutes later another plate of Fish and Chips arrived. 20 minutes later the waiter delivered to our table the Sunday Roast, which wasn't ours. Took about 1 hour for our main course to actually arrive. A waiter tried to give us dirty plates from the service area and wiped them with a tea towel. Fortunately my wife spotted this and we asked for clean plates which took about 5 minutes to arrive. All in all a disappointing experience.
I think there was a problem with the kitchen that day - we waited more than 40 mins only to get coffee and juices. Food arrived even later and forgot to bring something. But they were very nice and made us a big discount for the inconvenience. It can happen sometimes!
Mediocre food, rushed service, lost reservation, and an £85 bill. Tom’s Kitchen is not what it once was.
Really bad service
It was a reasonably good meal but certainly not outstanding. if it was right on my doorstep I would consider going back but it is not a restaurant that I would go out of my way to return to
Very friendly staff and nice place.
The starters and risotto were delicious, but the steak was overcooked and a bit chewy.
