My wife had eaten here before approximately 12 years ago and had an amazing meal, now many years later we found ourselves In Edinburgh with our now grown up daughters and looking for somewhere to eat, this came up and we remembered the stunning views over the castle and decided to give it a whirl.
On arrival we were greeted and seated, we elected for cocktails to start and then ordered from the two course menu, two had the haddock and I had the flatiron steak, our youngest went for the burger., the portions were very generous, the food was delicious, truly we have eaten in many fine establishments but this was in the top 1% .
The desserts too were awesome, I had the simple vanilla ice cream, roasted almonds and coated in a chocolate sauce and it was simply divine.
This service was attentive , the cocktails awesome and the good divine.
A very underrated gem in Edinburgh, give it a try I doubt you will be disappointed
Lovely little bistro looking onto the vibrant Grassmarket. Not too ordinary, not too fancy, just right.
Great food and the set menu is very good value for money.
We went on valentines night and they provided us with a free glass of wine each.
Nice location with a great view of the Castle, very nice food with great service. They are very accomodating for providing vegan options even though they are not specifically noted on the menu.
Excellent food and service , would highly recommend the restaurant
Cibo buono. Servizio attento.
When I went I had a prize voucher which was a 3 course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine, as I am not a wine drinker I asked if there wa a possibility we could get drinks to he equivalent amount of the bottle, they were extremely accommodating with this request. The service was also very quick and staff were lovely
Food was very good with great selection of dishes. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful. Would certainly recommend this place to friends.
Lovely food and in a vibrant part of the City, service was quick which helped as we were off to the Tattoo after - which was brilliantly close also.
Very good food, the sweet potato and chickpea cassoulet was really tasty. Staff very friendly and attentive,
Disappointing experience! Waiters had no idea what they were doing - turned a relaxing evening to one that we just wished to end!!
A lovely view and very friendly service, the food was excellent with good choice
Great service really good food
The selection of the food was excellent. Amazing dishes where one taste complemented another. Very approachable and friendly staff happy to help with recommendations. Over all nice relaxed restaurant. Thank you for a great night!
We went for dinner on the last night of our stay in Edinburgh. The food and service was superb, highly recommended.
Lovely meal, very well presented. Staff great, good service. Well done, will be back.
Our experience was brilliant, with helpful staff and very good cuisine. This was our wedding meal and we truly can't fault it. Excellent!
Modern decor highlights the very contemporary menu. Each course was presented beautifully and tasted even better that it looked. Our server was attentive but unobtrusive. Small wine list with very reasonable pricing. We loved it!
Love the sharing side went with husband had 4 meals to share then sweets food hot and good service would go back
We thought that the meal was a mish mash of many kinds of cuisine but they did not always go well together.
in edinburgh for the day from preston had seen tony singh on tv so gave the restaurant a try would recommend it very good
Like Tony Singh himself, the menu is slightly off the wall. Think fusion on speed with food from India, Argentina, USA, Korea, Cambodia, Peru, Scotland and Bangkok. It's more a sharing menu, have a couple of dishes each. Good size portions, not tiny Tapas size.
Located on the Grassmarket, a lively pub area below the rear of the castle, its a great place to people watch.
I'm a big fan of Tony's since his brilliant Oloroso days - but I was left underwhelmed. Nothing bad at all, just not great.
Booked a table as was visiting the Fringe Festival. Simple menu with opportunities to try different things. Meals very tasty and well priced, polite and attentive staff. Would highly recommend visiting.
Excellent location for interesting, tasty, good value food. Relaxed atmosphere and excellent value. Suitable for all ages and food preferences. Will definitely use this location again.
The food was good but the presentation could have need better. The restaurant lacks atmosphere.
Over priced and over done
good food and flavours but lacks atmosphere, especially as the staff were laying the tables and the buffet out for breakfast. No atmosphere
Food was disappointing considering it reads interesting on the menu. Just a mix of things that really didn't go together and didn't taste great. The chips in particular were bad. Probably the best thing was the sliders. I definitely would not go back or recommend it.
Booked for pre Fringe dinner with friends. Could quite happily sat all night and worked through the menu. In fact that is already in planning. All excellent.
Lovely restaurant, reasonably priced. Every dish that arrived was, ooh, wow, this is great. One of the best cocktails I have ever tasted. Can't wait to go back 😃
My family and I had looked at the menu online at the time of booking and my 14 year old daughter had decided what she wanted to eat. At the restaurant we were told that the menu online was the old menu and what she wanted was not on the menu.
we were visiting Edinburgh for the Fringe and having seen Tony Singh on TV we thought we would like to try his food. We kind of thought we would have unusual flavours... not so. The restaurant was almost empty at lunch time so there was no atmosphere. We sat by the window so great for people watching. Staff were fine. Food was a sharing small plate style. Unfortunately, they brought it all together so we felt we had to eat fast in order to have warm food. We had ordered fish and chips.. they couldn't be left. Fish was nice enough but not the best. Haggis pakora were good and the ribs had a lovely flavour.
Would we go again, I think not.
Was at the festival abd had a lovely meal whilst people watching 😉
Loved it. The service was great, really helpful and friendly. Considering it was the height of festival it was really relaxed, but perfect to sit on people in the grass market. The waitress gave great recommendations, the lamb sliders with chicken tikka on top were amazing. I ordered the pulled pork donut which was very tasty. We also got garlic and mushroom fries and then the black salt corn on the cob. Everything was delicious and speedy and efficient service. Can't wait to go back.
Food cold and frozen in centre. Small portions, cold plates. Poor customer service. Long wait for drinks. No ambience. A big change from previously - will not be back or recommending this to others.
Decided on restaurant as very near hotel. I had read the mixed reviews but as a spice lover I thought we would give it a chance. We arrived at about 5. The place was pretty empty so service was fine. We ordered the haggis Pakora, fish kofta, curry of the day and prawn satay. The food is described as fusion street food. This presumably excuses it for the poor presentation and bland flavours. The spices were there but there was no kick, no wow factor. I left disappointed and can not recommend this restaurant as there are literally thousands in Edinburgh to chose from.
We had lunch here and enjoyed trying the small plates of things we hadn't tried before. I particularly enjoyed a Cambodian salad and we both loved the Oreo cheesecake milkshake. Only downside was that thloos were all down a lot of stairs and I am disabled, but our friendly waitress helped me down and up the stairs so all was forgiven!
Loved the choice of food on offer we both ordered different food so that we could share and this worked well. Food and service excellent would definitely recommend this restaurant. If I ever re-visit Edinburgh this restaurant will be on the itinerary
Good service and tasty reasonably priced food. I took my Daughter here for her Birthday, she is a vegetarian and I have Coeliac disease and there were plenty options to choose from
Excellent tasty food. Lovely venue in a picturesque setting. Staff were very friendly and attentive without the feel of being hovered over. Will definitely be back again and highly recommend the whole experience. The Haggis Pakora was my own personal highlight.
