Everything very well organised and professional and a good location. Lunch menu was well executed but you do need to invest in a couple of sides. Loved the cocktail that was included in the lunch price nad well done the waiter who suggested we have it with the desserts.
The food was not as good as last time I came. Very salty and over seasoned. The service was too intrusive with constant water filling. The waiter was unsure how to address us calling my friend Miss which seemed unusual. I was disappointed because the food is normally so good. I had the set meal parsnip and pancake both salty. My friend had pork and charred cabbage which she couldn’t eat because of its bitterness. Pudding was fine. Ambience nice. I was thinking of coming here with my professional leadership team and parents and family but will now reconsider which is s shame.
We took 3 kids for a nice meal and they all had the tasting menu. It was an amazing first foray into fine dining for them (ages 6-8) and we were elated with the experience. Our waitress was lovely and the good was delicious. We will definitely retro again.
Enjoyable, buzzy brasserie, well-spaced by Theatreland standards, and with engaging staff. Food on our Saturday evening dinner varied from really enjoyable to really dull. Perhaps a slight tendency to try to be a bit too clever?
Popped in for dinner after a show, the team there were excellent and we easily managed to find options for my wife (vegetarian) and my 9 year old. the food was very flavoursome. overall a very enjoyable meal
This has got to be one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in London, the food was outstanding and the whole experience was thoroughly worth it.
The staff were nice and helpful however the food was not good. I couldn’t eat half of my main course (pork) because it was so undercooked. I told the waitress and she said she would feed it back to the chef but that was it! I left hungry.
Amazing food and service, thank you, we will be back.
Good food and 3 course lunch offer, .
Arriving, the host was fantastic, chatty and welcoming. Ordering was a little slow and disruptive as the waiter had to go and come back whilst taking our order. The food was lovely, although the scallop starter came with a broth which was all poured on to the dish which left it practically swimming. We suggested next time perhaps to pour on a little and leave the rest to the diner to decide. The duck ravioli was very tasty and well presented. Mains took a little longer to arrive, however were very good. The pork and venison were well balanced and perfectly portioned, plus we indulged in a side of truffle mac and cheese which didn’t disappoint. Dessert was good, however the chocolate fondant was served in a shallow metal ramekin that was extremely hot but just spins on the plate, so you need to hold it with your napkin to get it on your fork. The white chocolate dish however was great. Service throughout was a little slow and in need of refinement - the restaurant was under half full so they were not rushed. Water not topped up, left it too long to clear, plates placed haphazardly in front of you.
All in all I would come back again in a casual dining setting for a lunch, it wasn’t great value in return when other restaurants offer a higher quality of service and food at the same price point.
Friendly but slightly average.
Very enjoyable meal. Great service. Highly recommend to all.
we went for the set lunch before going to a show. The food was very good as was the wine we chose, the staff were helpful and courteous, we will return.
We had a set pre-theatre menu. The food was extremely good and there were good choices on the set menu. We were seated downstairs. I would have preferred to sit upstairs as it has a better ambiance. We also sat next to a very noisy party who thankfully left at the beginning of our meal. Set meal came with one cocktail but we had no choice in which cocktail. I think it would have been better with a few cocktail options to choose from. Service was excellent and prompt. A very enjoyable meal overall.
Wonderful food with wonderful tastes! Simply gorgeous.
Odd that the restaurant sold coke but not lemonade (for children).
Service was good but personally I did not warm to the deferential style. A little awkward and impersonal.
When we arrived this evening, the booth we booked was not available, we were the taken to our table with comments on how busy they are and have been since 11am. All of which we were not interested in.
The restaurant was cold and food mediocre. The starter of prawns was very cold and the plate could have done with heating before the food hit it.
We ordered a cocktail of a negroni which was very slow arriving and the bartender also had a storybook about being busy
The whole evening was expensive and just adequate
Would we recommend NO
I had a plant based meal from starter to desert and sit was absolutely delicious! Although the pumpkin starter would be so much nicer if it was served warm or hot. It took me by surprise that it was cold and it felt like the pumpkin mouse (it said mouse on the menu but it was more like a pure) was taken straight out of the fridge it was that cold. But other than that the service was lovely and for me as a vegan it was nice to have a nice, fine dining, plant based meal.
My friend and I had a table overlooking the ground. It was quiet enough for us to talk but also provided a view to the outside - a winning combination. We both had the 3 course set menu which was excellent with the dishes all achieving a degree of originality without over thinking them. The only fault I could find was that I had to order a black de-caff americano 3 times before they got it right. Otherwise a really great experience.
Place wasn’t busy but still had to keep asking for wine list & service in general not great BUT the food was EXCELLENT would definitely go back go the food. Also the 3 courses plus cocktail was excellent value for money.
The restaurant sadly was a bit soulless downstairs. Possibly upstairs might have been better. No Xmas decorations or Xmas spirit at all.
Can’t fault the food.
Overall, we were really disappointed with the food. The restaurant was quite empty for a Sunday evening, now we know why. The ambience was nice, the manager was really professional. The cocktails were really good. I would go there for a drink, but definitely not for dinner.
Their Sunday lunch is lovely but only the roast beef arrives on your plate. Everything else is dumped on the table in sharing plates and you have to serve yourselves - fine unless you’re with several children and then it’s work for the adults. A request to serve the food to the plates was met with a “not really” from the server, later corrected by the maitre D. They also serve you a thimbleful of gravy each so not for gravy lovers! Still a charming restaurant and the food is good. Well located for theatre.
Lovely food, really impressed with every thing i ate and drank
This was our first visit to Tredwells and we had booked the 3 course + cocktail option. The choices were very good and the sea bream in particular was excellent. We were given an extra dessert which was lovely as well. As you would expect the biggest cost was for the wine but in line price wise with most restaurants.
The atmosphere was good and the staff very friendly and helpful.
This was an excellent find and in a great location for theatres so we'll definitely be returning.
Had a lovely Christmas meal with friends. Food was delicious!
Nice atmosphere but the service was really slow. It was Tuesday night and not full but they were understaffed and we struggled to get anyone's attention, and had to ask multiple times to order. There was also a very long wait between the starter and main. It's a good place with an interesting menu and the staff are very friendly, but there just aren't enough of them to give good service.
We were a table of 4 and had the set menu + cocktail for £29 deal. When adding the cost of bread (delicious), olives, sides, drinks and service we each paid double the headline price. However the food was exceptional and we enjoyed the experience. I opted for cod cheeks to start (a tiny portion) and then the pork collar. Both excellent. The grilled broccoli side was unexpectedly lovely; presented as a whole head of calabrese it was flavoured in a way that I’ve never experienced. The vinho verde wine is recommended and good value. The cocktail was the only disappointment, it had a trace amount of gin and tasted of lemon barley water.
Such good reviews but the food certainly wasn't up to it. And the service whilst attentive wasn't focussed enough - we ordered bread which when reminded after the starter resulted in a couple of plates being delivered but no bread. The steak tasted burnt despite being rare and the cut of meat was dreadful. At the pork was bland.
Such a shame - it did rather spoil the evening.
Service was faultless. Staff are very polite and attentive. Would highly recommend it.
Wonderful service with excellent food. Overall wonderful place and looking forward to going again!
Pre-theatre dinner although ended up going a la carte. Unfortunately arrived 30mins late so didn’t have time to choose from amazing desert menu - highly recommend
Love returning to this excellent restaurant. Seasonal produce used in original and creative ways.
The food in the £29 for 3 courses and a dessert cocktail was enjoyable. It felt sneaky to have quite a few dishes with a supplement. Service was good. The design of the space is strange.
The wine choice was good but the mark-up seemed crazy. £51 a bottle for a Macon Village is approaching the level of rip-off. I do know that restaurants need to make their money somewhere and overheads are high. Nevertheless, the mark up here is indecent.
Tredwells is now one of my favourite restaurants. I have been there twice and the food was delicious. The staff are really friendly and efficient and there is a great ambience
A great find in the heart of Theatres land. Good set menu for post-show dining.
Very nice experience. It took a long time between first dish and main dish. This was recognised with some French fries to accomodate for the waiting time. Overall a nice place to enjoy.
First visit and would definitely return - good ambience and great food.
Disappointing. Starters were either too salty or overcooked. Mains was ok but nothing to write about. Dessert was fine though.
This was a pre-theatre celebratory booking and we took advantage of the special deal 3 courses and cocktail. We'd been before so location was ideal for us. Food was good quality and interesting. Our only concern was that you need side dishes which were on the expensive side and took the total bill a bit higher than planned and somewhat devalued the special deal which took us there in the first place. Having said that the service was excellent
Delicious food & excellent service as usual - see my previous reviews
Great lunch with fantastic food and service
