Menu selection and service is always good at Trio's. Our waitress explained the new precautions being taken by the Newport Reataurant Group at this time.
For the first time in all the times I have been going to Trio, my experience was less than satisfactory. We arrived at 7 and our order was taken quickly. With the exception of my husband's soup, we waited over 45 min for our lobster salad sandwich and truffle fries. There were very few people in the restaurant. The lobster is usually served with no dressing and that is what I love about their sandwich, it's on the side. The truffle fries were a poor imitation. After waiting all that time and food is not as as you know it to be is disappointing. It appeared that the chefs Sunday nite were not as experienced .Disappointing meal. I will continue to support Trio,hopefully Sunday nite was just a fluke.

I had the swordfish special and my husband had the tuna. Both were great. We both started with French onion soup which was also very good. Service was attentive and server was really pleasant. Very tempted by deserts but simply too full to partake.
The fish in the fish and chips dinner was too small and I really disliked the coleslaw. The truffle fries were meh. I love Trio but tonight was a real disappointment.
Sorry to hear you did not enjoy Sylvia. Usually the fish and chips is one of our guest favorites. We will be sure to pass along your feedback to our culinary team to ensure our quality. We hope your next visit with us is more like the typical meal you enjoy.
The food was good, waitress seemed a bit scattered. It wasn’t busy, but she never brought us bread and took a bit to bring us things.

I have been to Trio many times in the past and have gotten wonderful food and great service, however I was very disappointed with my food this time. I ordered the filet mignon and it was very subpar. When I first received it, it was very undercooked and just not to the same standards of past trips. I sent it back to be cooked longer and it lost all of the flavor.

We had a very nice table by the fireplace. The only negative is that I felt some portions were small. The steak portion in particular was very small. It was served with garlic green beans and fries, which were excellent. My salmon portion was fine but the pureed cauliflower and braised cabbage served under it was very small and cold. The French onion soup was excellent but pricy at $8

Amazing meal from start to finish! Oysters, French onion soup, filet mignon, linguine and clam sauce and yellowfin tuna were outstanding!

I was seated right away. I enjoyed the food, I had the chicken parm and the chicken was very good. Bread was warm and very fresh. the rest of my party all loved their food as well. Server was very attentive. Overall very good!

Went with friends - each of the 4 of us had a different entree and all were greatly enjoyed. Service was good and the server/management was very conscientious about food allergy issues. Server was well informed on the specials, menus and drinks. We'll be back.

Trio food is really going downhill. Trio had been great for years, then became inconsistent, and our last experience was that food was very poor. The bolognese, a signature dish, was dry and mostly pasta, the burger was ordered medium but came out raw in the middle, and the fries were soggy. So a very disappointing experience. Too bad.

Consistently good food. One of our favorite places for dinner. But, I wish they had more selections of wines by the glass. Only 2 Cabernets on the menu and I’m not a fan of either. How about JLohr or Josh or Sterling.

Friendly greeting upon arrival and good service. Was pleasantly surprised to find out that a pre fixe menu was offered. The dinner of grilled swordfish was delicious and the price was right.

For the fish lover, lots of options. Including apps like stuffies (five small clams vs. one big one.) For non-pescatarian, not so much. Pizzas a good option. Other entrees, like Nashville Hot Chicken, disappoint. Food sometimes overcooked (reheated from freezer?). Drinks and wine glass menu very nice. So I'd recommend, but with a careful eye on what is ordered. Experience may be the only guide.

Trios is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and the service is always exceptional. It’s a great place to bring my family and grandkids or just a group of friends. I wish they were open for lunch every day.

I wish there were more menu selections suited to my tastes but then, I am a very fussy eater. I had the chicken parmesan but I was hesitant to order it because I think I recalled ordering it several years ago and not liking it. As soon as I took a bite, I knew why I didn't like it before. The chicken was very bland and too thick for parmesan. I like the kind where it is pounded very thin. The chicken was not seasoned before dipping it in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. I could not eat it. However, the linguine and red sauce that accompanied was very good. It tasted like fresh pasta and the sauce had just the right amount of flavor and acidity. My husband had the simply prepared scallops. He said they were okay but thought for sea scallops they were kind of small. 5 came to the order. We use to come here a lot but over the years the food quality has been inconsistent. I had a few old time favorites that are no longer on the menu. Not sure we will be going back any time soon unless the menu changes or I am in the mood for a steak, which in the past has not disappointed.

Great service. Food excellent except for frozen steak fries I received.
Glad you enjoyed but sorry to hear about the fries. That's not typical of our quality. We hope if you try us again we can deliver a more typical experience (including hot, crispy fries)
