We have been to Trio many times but Saturday night will be the last time. Service was poor. We asked for more bread when our salads came. It arrived 40 minutes later. Two of us ordered the beef special medium rare, one fish & one a veal chop. My beef was over cooked so I sent it back. I was told it was the last piece of meat. The other meals were not hot. My husband’s veal chop was also over done. He didn’t send it back. The manager came over & told me the beef was pink inside. I tried to explain that it was not medium rare but medium well. She did offer to make something else but by this time everyone was already finished. This entire situation took a fair amount of time. The owner never came to our table to even offer an apology or to find out what happened.
We ordered one ice cream & one chocolate mousse. Our bill came & we were told my dinner was taken off the bill like they were doing me a favour. We all felt they should have not charged for the dessert or the one coffee. Customer service was awful! The owner then went into her office so I couldn’t talk to her. VERY DISAPPOINTING!
Service was very slow. Reservation at 7:00pm. Drinks 7:45, Got appetizers at 8:00. Main course at 9:00pm. Kept asking where meal was & they kept saying it was coming.
Every meal at Trio commences with the best bread plate in town....small slices of baked pizza dough with an oil and garlic topping. These bare pizza bread slices could be a fabulous meal with salad and a glass of wine; however Trio’s pizzas are fabulous too. Our favourite appetizers are the carpaccio of beef and a carpaccio of beets. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Our neighbourhood gem for 2 decades.
Great neighbourhood spot with consistently wonderful food.
The food was delicious & our server, Erin was delightful. We enjoyed interacting with her. Great dining experience!
We have been here 5-6 times and always loved it YET this night just went sideways. Essentially we were seated upstairs and forgotten about the whole night. Kind of disappointing as we know they can do so much better. Service was mediocre at best when they did pay attention.
Great as always
This is a neighbourhood restaurant that excels in all things Italian.. including prompt professional, service. It's always busy. Pizza and Veal chop are outstanding.
The one drawback is the noise level on the main floor since tables are close together. Though the quieter upstairs area is an option, it is quite spartan and void of any character. Investing in an overhaul upstairs, would no doubt make it a preferable option to those who wish a .
One of our very favourite restaurants. So friendly but professional and simply an enchanting place to have lunch or dinner.
Service was friendly and prompt. Meals came quickly (almost too quickly). Food delicious. Choices on menu excellent. Will definitely go back!
A long time staple in our neighbourhood. Had a couple of hiccups after Eduardo left. However back on track. A v enjoyable evening.
On open table website we confirmed special occasion, our 45th wedding anniversary. There was no acknowledgement but staff. Suggest they review all reservations by open table.
We found hair in our food , were charged for the food , bad service overall
Food was great. Service was amazing. Our server did a great job explaining the special. We enjoyed all the food we ordered, taste and presentation were great. Cozy small restaurant, good neighborhood settings
Used to go regularly. This is my last time there. Food was average. Service was atrocious.
It’s always a special occasion at Trio.
Great food and excellent service.
I'm sorry to say that our experience was very poor. It started out well with charming wait staff and good starters that were delivered within a reasonable time frame. But then...we waited well over an hour for our main courses! When we asked where our food was, as all the tables around us (who arrived at the same time as us) had been served and the diners had left as we waited and waited, we kept being told our food was "on the way" . Once it arrived (without an acknowledgement or apology for the delay), the food was very nice but we were all upset by then and ate quickly and left immediately afterwards. Not much of a dining experience... and although the food quality is fine (when it arrives) and the wait staff seem pleasant (unless there's an error that they can't figure out how to fix) that doesn't make up for a very frustrating evening. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone else. There are too many restaurants in Toronto that do everything right without giving my money to one that doesn't seem to care.
We stopped in for a quick lunch and only ordered salads but the server kindly offered we could add any protein, "no problem". Very friendly service, we will be going back soon for a full dinner, can't wait.
We loved the authenticity of the Italian food. Great specials and great menu.
No, the appetizers were very good. Three of us had fish, which we routinely order. It was meh, no taste very bland. We thought the value was poor.
Great service by Erin--had terrific food that was well prepared and served in a timely fashion.
Trio never disappoints! In fact, each time we go there is always that same excellence and we are all so delighted to be there! Every dish we tried was outstanding! A wonderful evening!
Chef Andrea always surprises with some off the menu specialties, pizza is the best in town, and service is outstanding !
This our favourite restaurant for our special occasions. We Love! everything about Trio. We take friends and have recommended it to many people. Definitely a “go to” place.
The Caesar salad at Trio is excellent - with several slices of good quality Parmesan cheese on top. The chicken Marsala is always a favourite of my family. It is served with a generous portion of sautéed mushrooms - delicious! The wait staff is efficient and knowledgable about the ingredients in the menu item.
Fabulous Bonafide Italian food in a modest, neighbourhood restaurant.
Casual, intimate dining.
Service, flavours, freshness, presentation are priorities here!
Is almost like having a little corner of Italy at your doorstep.
Trio delivers consistently meal after meal! The neighbourhood go to where the food is always delicious and the service impeccable. Pamela in particular makes outstanding recommendations - both food & wine specials! Love the new menu - my only "complaint" is bring back my favourite two pasta dishes - Triangoli & Linguini Frutti de Mare.
Excellent food and service but rather pricey. I would go back and maybe just try salad and pizza for a less expensive dinner.
great food, not overly fancy, just fabulously executed. fantastic service
Try to be seated on the main floor if you’d like to have a better and more vibrant atmosphere.
Great food and excellent service.
Love this restaurant the food is great and I’m always happy with the service.
I loved Trio’s individual house-baked lasagna in the past. Hadn’t had some for six months. Extremely disappointed! The lasagna is now a microwaved pile of mushy pasta. I used to be warned the lasagna would take 20-25 minutes to bake. Not this time and it arrived in 10 minutes. Had the same fast heat dissipation as other microwaved dishes.
I don’t know if this was because it was a Sunday and the owner wasn’t there, or it is now the common prep procedure. Anyway, I won’t have it again.
Too loud to enjoy a quiet evening. Food was terrific, service even better. Parking is a pain but not terrible. Great Restaurant.
Trio was great! All our meals were delicious. Service was awesome as usual.
As always , excellent offering- service- and always welcome.
We’ve been 6 times before because of the reliably good experience.
A very enjoyable evening. This place is such a popular neighbourhood spot, and full every evening, that it can be quite noisy at times. The carpaccio and caprese salad we ordered as appetizers were as delicious as our main course pizza with its fabulous crust. Service consistently good.
We’ve been going to this restaurant for the last 5 years and I have to say that I’m so happy that the food quality and service has remained excellent! We introduced this restaurant to our friends and they went 2 weeks ago and loved it!
The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. Our waiter did not come around to ask if we wanted dessert or coffee. We called him over to order coffee, but he did not ask if we wanted a dessert menu. Still, the food was very good, although rather pricey.
Totally disappointing on this visit. Had booked days in advance and booked downstairs as I DO KNOW that by the time food is walked up the stairs past the cold front door and placed on a counter for a server to find and then serve, it is bound to be at medium temperature at best when you do get it. Sure enough, it happened again. To make it worse, when we arrived i was told in front of our out of town guest that BECAUSE I booked through Open Table we will be seated up stairs. My pasta quantity was small, both my wife and guest sent their meals back for warming and they came back the same!!! Perhaps I will try them again, but unfortunately can't book through Open Table. Downstairs has been very fine in the past.
