About

Permanently closed - In the heart of the West End, Charlotte Street is home to some of London’s most popular eateries and Tsunami is no exception. This modern Japanese restaurant is a tranquil haven just moments from bustling Soho, so it’s an ideal setting for laid-back lunches and intimate pre-theatre dinners. The interior is cool and contemporary; complete with sleek banquette seating and delicate floral motifs on the walls. The expertly prepared sushi and sashimi will satisfy even the fussiest Japanese food fan and the menu also offers delicious hot dishes. Our favorites include the traditional chicken yakitori; sizzling teriyaki beef; and deliciously crisp black cod tempura with wasabi mayo. For a light and elegant meal in W1, Tsunami is hard to beat.

Tsunami has been my favourite go to sushi spot for the last 3 years but my last visit was very disappointing. We ordered 2 tuna rolls (as we almost always do) and the tuna was nearly 50% fat - absolutely disgusting. We explained this to the waitress and sent the rolls back. She first came back and suggested they replace the 2 rolls with just 1, as we had eaten our first bites of the 2 rolls. You serve inedible food and then suggest not fully correcting it? Then she comes back again and says the rolls have been removed from our bill (I would have hoped so). After waiting awhile and no new rolls coming out, we flagged her down to learn that all the tuna they had at the time was of the same quality but never asked if we wanted anything else instead. A very disappointing experience overall.

One of our favourite restaurants, we usually go to the Clapham restaurant which is great however thought we would try the Charlotte St one, very disappointing, tired decor and disinterested staff, will be going back to Tsunami but only to the Clapham restaurant.

overall the restaurant disappointed. Venue looks tired. Service was front of house not able to find booking, waited nearly an hour for a bento box lunch and when it came chicken Terriyaki was stone cold. There was not real apology and a sense the staff really didn't care. A shame as I was expecting better

I have been to Tsunami several times and it never fails to disappoint, the ambiance is relaxed and the food is amazing, really fresh tasty and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this restaurant and recommend the Katafi prawns, their Special Volcano Roll and Yellowtail Sashimi. Definitely going again soon :)

Food here is brilliant. I have been to the Clapham one a number of times and the food in Tsunami West End is just as good! The service is excellent and with the promotion currently on, it is incredible value.

I always enjoy a visit to Tsunami. Space can be tight but the food is a delight. The award winning volcano sushi can't be beaten. If you want good sushi at a reasonable price, this is a good option.

As always the food is excellent and the fusion of flavours is so interesting.

Having been regulars at Yama Momo in East Dulwich (sister restaurant) we were shocked to find the atmosphere was so bland here - it felt like a chain restaurant with very little effort having gone into the decor. Perhaps a slightly unfair comparison with Yama Momo but the two restaurants cannot be compared and we we left a little disappointed.

Lovely Japanese restaurant worth the long walk on Charlotte Street. The Kadaif Shrimps were out of this world, so much that I had to order it again at the end instead of dessert. The black cod was good too although I thought it was a bit overpriced at £28. At Zuma the black cod costs £30 at a slightly better taste and at Oka it costs £19. But all in all an excellent experience.

Four very hungry friends came to Tsunami for a celebratory meal and loved it. If we'd had unlimited funds we would probably have carried on eating indefinitely.

I've visited Tsunami 2ce now and both times have found the food superb. It's rare to find sushi in the UK that lives up to it. It's worth having as many Dragon Volcano rolls as you can eat and the fresh rolls are delicious too.

Great food, good drinks. Cannot recommend enough.

the food is always absolutely delicious and it has a great veggie selection. It also has a good ine list. The only negeative is that it had the worst waiter services in the whole of W1.

I went here with a vegan friend, her being vegan presented no problems and she enjoyed the food. Our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive without being at all intrusive. The food was very good, the only criticism I would make is that the portions are a little on the small side, though seemed to be for reasons of elegance rather than stinginess. It is a fairly dark restaurant and no good for children

This was my first time trying this place after hearing many good reviews from friends. It lived up to expectations and I would definitely go back. We went on a Monday so enjoyed the 40% off food Opentable deal - this meant we probably ordered more dishes than we would have normally. In fact, the prawn appetiser was so good we ordered a second! All of our dishes were well presented and delicious. The portion sizes were also quite generous.

I was also impressed with the service. The waiter was attentive without being too suffocating. The place was small but pleasant.

Overall this was an enjoyable experience and I would recommend to other diners.

We had a great time there, the waitress was very helpful, smiling and friendly and everything that was recommended to us was delicious. The layout was such that though the table next to us was full, I didn't feel cramped. Clean, pleasant and friendly, the whole was a great experience.

We chose Tsunami for its location and reviews and we weren't disappointed. The food was expertly prepared and flavourful, with the sauces being particularly delicious. Favorites incleded the chicken gyoza and pork belly main. Our servers really made us feel comfortable and did a good job of taking care of our needs. I'll be going back.

It was my second time at Tsunami, though this time I was a left a little disappointed. Most of the dishes we ordered came with sauces covering the maki rolls, perhaps it was bad ordering on our part, but I prefer my sushi a little plainer.

East to park in front of the restaurant.
Warm welcome by the staff of the restaurant. The place is nice and simple.
The menu has a lot of variety of food like fish or meat. For The start we ordered tofu, it was tasty and different. The black cod was so good that we ordered two portion and the truffle beef was very tender. The food was beautiful and extraordinary.
