Good atmosphere quality food and smiley staff we would love to have chicken roast on the menu thank you
Dear Cash7262 Thank-you for taking the time to leave a lovely review of Tudor Barn. I have passed your comments about the Chicken Roast to the Head Chef. However, next time you are in, do ask for a chicken breast if you would prefer one. Sometimes we are able to accommodate specific requests and will always endeavour to please! Many thanks! Andy
Booked with the anticipation of having afternoon tea, but that could not be accommodated . Ended up having Camembert cheese and fish and chips, which was too heavy and felt sick afterwards.
Dear MonaM We are sorry to hear your did not enjoy your Fish & Chips - it is indeed a very different affair to our Afternoon Tea! We require 24hrs notice in advance of Afternoon Tea bookings and a deposit of £5pp to secure. Next time you book online just pop "AFternoon Tea" into the "Notes" section and when we see it we will call you for the deposit at the first available opportunity. Alternatively, just call us on 0800 433 2351 and we can sort it all out in one go for you. Many thanks!
Nice meal. Menu is quite limited but enjoyed all our meals
We had a good lunch here but the choice of music was strange. Too loud and like a Disney movie soundtrack playing with crashing cymbals and stuff. We did ask for it to be turned down and it was. Staff seemed busy with topping up bottomless proseccos all around us to offer another drink throughout meal.
Food was good though and the experience was a good one with our kids. We maybe won’t go again on a Saturday lunch.
Dear PaulL Thanks for the review! We endeavour to find a happy medium when it comes to our background music and I am glad to hear the music was turned down for your comfort. And whilst Disney-esque is good for the kids (and some adults!) it may not be the best choice for others. At Tudor Barn one end of our Gastro has no speakers at all. Next time you book please do request a table in this section and we will be happy to accomodate you. All the best!
I enjoy it enough to drive down from the Peak District every couple of years to meet a friend who lives in Sheerness. I've got good memories of Eltham and The Tudor Barn from my youth.
An important part of a special day.
A pleasant place to go for lunch. Small but interesting menu, good choice of drinks and helpful staff.
Ok atmosphere, very reduced menu, some starters almost like tapas but not quite, not much by way of a main meal. Had panna cotta dessert - very sweet & with merengue on - almost eton mess! Another chef doing their best to elaborate on traditional fare! Staff nice apart from manager banging the coffee machine like he was smashing it up, so noisy. Won’t be going back!
We arrived an hour early on a busy Sunday but the staff were great and we were seated in 5 mins food was very good and menu had vegetarian options for one of the party and kids menu suited our 93 old grandma.
Service was great and meal was very good value and high quality
As always an amazing Sunday sitting on the lawn in the sunshine listening to a fantastic singer with his guitar followed by a gorgeous Sunday roast
Very happy. Will look foward to visiting again when i am in the area again.
Great food!!! I always bring my friends and relatives. They all love it and want to go again!!
Brilliant afternoon at my leaving/50th birthday lunch. The very courteous staff made the experience better and the food was first rate! Had many great experiences at Tudor Barn and would always recommend!
We went to the Tudor Barn for Sunday lunch and a few drinks as it was my girlfriends birthday. We had a group of 10 and everybody absolutely loved it...the food was great and the service we received was outstanding...me and the family had a superb time. Proper day, loved it!!
Lovely restaurant, happy hour is good value, staff are very friendly, excellent service
Nice dinner with a lovely park to explore.
We had our first date here, our wedding and anniversary. It’s always amazing in every way
We booked Sunday lunch at 4pm deliberately avoiding the busy lunch period. When we arrived there was a wedding reception in the function room. This impacted on the service in the restaurant, waiting 45 minutes from order to service.
Before ordering sweet we were told to this quickly as there was a gap in the wedding reception food service. We thought this was unacceptable - although the staff thought they were being helpful. If they can't run a restaurant while catering for a wedding reception they they should close the restaurant.
I asked for a discount and they removed the price of a main meal from the bill without question.
Having not had Sunday Roast at the Tudor Barn for some time I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of food. The servings were enough to fill you up, including big deserts and all four of our group were impressed. Compared to another large well known venue in Chislehurst I ate at recently The Tudor Barn was both cheaper and the food was of better quality. The waitress was also very attentive to our requirements. Overall I recommend The Tudor Barn and will will be eating here again soon.
Lovely place to bring the family
Food is good priced and very Tasty
It was very welcoming just a little slow on service but overall really really nice in such an historic building
Poor. Booked at table for 9 o pay to be told the kitchen was shut.
The treatment we received was appalling!
We were told that brunch had finished- I had emails to confirm my booking time and that it would go on until 5.30. We were told this was wrong - but they would allow it this time! Very rude and unapologetic despite it being their mistake! it took 20
Mins for us to be seated. It then took 20mins to receive our first drink, therein after each drink we ordered took 15-20 to be delivered to the table. They told us they were promoting “responsible drinking” but it was ok to “down” our drinks in order to order the next! Each time taking 20mins to receive our next drink. Do not advertise “bottomless brunch” when it clearly wasn’t the case. The duty manager was lacking in customer service skills. Would not recommend this place to a friend and certainly will not be going back
Excellent food, lovely service and perfect location.
We had heard a lot of good things about this place but despite having a reservation, we were forgotten and just left to our own devices once the main course was served.
When we finally got the attention of the person serving us, the kitchen had closed. And we missed having dessert which was one of the main reasons for us going there.
Overall disappointed . but i guess they were short staffed.
Food was excellent though and when the lady had time to pay attention to us, she was marvellous.
really lovely place, food excellent and TRacey was a lovely waitress
The whole birthday lunch was a disaster. We got the wrong starter, very small portion on 1 main meal & asked to have it replaced after 20 mins they finally replaced it but everyone else had finished. The last straw was they gave us the wrong bill & after we had paid were told we had been under charged & they wanted more money with no apology from the Manager. It totally spoilt the celebration & we left very deflated. We will not be returning to the Tudor Barn & strongly advise you not to eat there either.
I wasn't especially pleased with the lunchtime choices. I was disappointed there wasn't a choice of meat dishes. I was looking forward to steak or lamb. Meat of the day was gammon! Otherwise, fish and chips or chicken. It seems, you can only have steak at dinner. I've had better meals. A bit bland, but have had better experiences at Tudor Barn. Let's hope it more fruitful in the not too distant future.
The service was really slow, the pimms has little or no pimms in it. The menu was really limited but what we had was really nice.
Great staff and good food. Set in a lovely historic setting. The barn itself would suit all occasions.
Good food and friendly staff. Slightly cramped seating and menu pricing was confusing but overall a nice experience
Really enjoyed our brunch, however it was a shame we didn't know they were closing at 2 for a wedding as we had to leave straight after and not stay as planned.
We had a extremely long wait for food, there was also another table which had a long wait for food it’s almost like we were just forgotten about and then trying to order drinks was a nightmare, I think they need to remember they have a restaurant aswell as a bar an outside plus function halls and make be come up with a way to keep up with the demand. Also the menus are very small, so not much choice.
Overall it is very disappointing.
The venue itself is impressive given its history.
Through no fault of the waitressing staff or kitchen, the evening was a bit of a mess. There was a private wedding going on upstairs, however the kitchen remained open to he public. This put an enormous strain to the point where my husband and I waited an hour for bread and olives...
We were compensated appropriately and the staff could not be more apologetic. Luckily my husband and I enjoyed our time together and were able to take our time in the evening, however the place is extremely let down by management instance for running a large private function whilst catering to the public at the same time on a weekend.
It is a shame as the staff were very nice and the food was extremely good quality.
We booked a table for dining, but were not warned that no mains would be available because there was a wedding reception upstairs. Before we realised this, we also had to ask our table to be cleaned three times before someone did - brusquely and not at all well. After we then found out about the food, we left.
This is not the first time events have spoiled our evening there. The first couple of times we thought it just bad luck, but after this latest fiasco - coupled with the rude service - we won't be going back.
The service from the waitress was great. She explained our menu option choices really well - we went for the bottomless brunch. She was attentive and made sure we got enough to drink. However, 2 of our party didn't want a starter and main but wanted the lamb burger. They weren't able to just pay the difference, they had to pay full price, £14, on top of the £24.95 bottomless brunch option. When we got the final bill they had added an extra £40 on top, when we queried it the money was taken off without question - perhaps they thought we were a little bit tipsy!? The service at the bar was slow and the barman wasn't able to deal with pouring more than 1 drink at a time so ordering 3 drinks took a LONG TIME. Overall, I would say it's a lovely place to go and the sunmy weather helped.
A bit of a wait for food, not too long though and lovely when it came, fresh, hot, very tasty. Service was polite, helpful and friendly.
Great food and drink, fantastic staff, lovely location.
Only slight reduction in stars only due to the noise levels from other enjoying their time, but added to the happy atmosphere!
We arrived at our booked time, 15.00 hours. The restaurant was not busy inside, two tables of about 8-10 people only . Busier with drinks outside, but that is for bar service only.
Food order was taken at 15.40. Childrens menu or paper & pencils were not given to us at the outset. Had to ask for these and other items. Every time when we asked for something, we to either wait a long time, chase again or not get it an not be told. The bill was incorrect, incorrect meals and charges on it, we were overcharged. For example, we were charged for children's meal deal when my daughter had only one dish. Incorrect roast listed on the bill. Overcharged. No Yorkshire pudding served with the roast. My friend ordered a glass of merlot and a different wine was served. By that time we reached the point where we didn't want to ask anything any more. The 'finishing' matter was Tudor barn wanting to charge us £3.50 per person for eating our cake, which I bought and already paid for, at their premises. For a group of 10 people that's £35, I.e. another cake. Our table left and another one or two tables left on the day of our visit and during the previous weekend for this reason. I explained to the manager that had we eaten our cake there, we would have bought teas and coffees, so the potential cash flow loss for the restaurant on a group of 10 people could be £30. It doesn't cost £3.50 to wash a plate. Are the kitchen staff paid London living wage? This information was not in the booking details. We took our cake home instead and so did many of our friends. So, the result of this £3.50 charge- unhappy customers and profit loss for the restaurant.
Tudor barn has really gone down the hill in quality (up with prices). I would only eat here if I had to or if it was convenient. Ok for drinking outside.
Chairs don’t fit under the tables.
Table was too squashed.
Children running around the restaurant.
I paid £11 cakeage fee for my husband and I, and our two babies!!! Hilarious
Had to wait a little while for our afternoon tea but the server explained that we may have to wait as they only had two members of staff in the kitchen. We didn’t mind as we were well looked after & the afternoon tea was wonderful. Amazing staff & amazing food. Well done to all at the Tudor Barn. My niece wants to have her 30th Birthday dinner there in September. Thank you Tudor Barn
