This was a disappointing experience. 20.30 on a Saturday evening and they have no vodka in stock but try to fool us by serving a. Smoked vodka instead. The food was tasty and flavoursome it was ruined by the fact it was served tepid. A bottle of melbec was ordered at the table, we were shown the bottle and tasted it and the bottle was left at the front table by the door, we ordered a second bottle which appeared decanted.. I questioned it as it tasted different, I still had some of the original wine left.. I even asked the couple on the adjoining table and he also agreed it was a different wine.. I questioned the front of house but was fobbed off.. not happy!.. we tried to order a baileys but again sold out.. you would have thought that Saturday night being a busy night that they would have a stocked bar? ! The front of house staff seemed nervous and were not very engaging.. the whole experience was unsatisfactory and it wasn’t worth the large bill.. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.. which is such a pity as it is right on our doorstep..
On the whole it didn't really live up to expectations - the pollock was very bland, the pheasant outer skin was a bit leathery- plate presentation was good- the rice pudding was excellent - the rum baba good the cheeses a disappointing mix. The starters full marks for the venison tartar
The choice of wines by the glass was very good - .
We felt the set lunch at £40 was not up to the £37.50 Adams set lunch by a long way. There were only two other diners which did not help the ambience and perhaps a busy evening may be more attractive. Not a place to put on our favourites list but I would not put people off giving it a try but wouldn't actively recommend it- sorry
We have been to a number of fine dining restaurants around Birmingham (and elsewhere) and the quality of the restaurant and food was up there with the best of them. All the food courses were divine. The cost was comparable to other fine dining restaurants and this restaurant will be certainly on my return list. Fir information there is a pay and display car park around the back just a couple of hundred yards away.
Superb food, excellent service. The restaurant was a little smaller and quieter than I imagined but this did not detract from the experience. Truly wonderful and innovative dishes! Highly recommend!
What a little delight. It's not often that the Chef appears so often and takes such an interest in his customers wellbeing.

Great experience. Very expensive though. Was put off by the fact we had to confirm our table before with many mentions of a £90 cancellation charge per person

You need better help, nice to see you at front of house but you need the help to take the strain off.
The restauant was closed even if we had a booking. We arrived at the time of our booking and the door was closed and i was dark inside. Very disapointing.
Remembering that this was my friends birthday and we'd planning it for months , we booked a chauffer to get us there and cake etc.. We ere contacted at 2pm on the Friday afternoon by Mr Turner himself cancelling our booking due to kitchen issues.
Absolute disgrace, I'm sure whatever problem they had could have been resolved if they had wanted to, but obviously the restaurant being up for sale means he no longer needs customer satisfaction.
Excellent service with the head chef introducing each dish. Beautiful flavours and textures and large portion sizes.
A thoroughly lovely lunch. Richard's cooking's always spot on, and the duo of duck liver starters was heaven on a plate. Walking was a challlenge afterwards though - the prtions were huge!!
An intimate setting with attentive staff and beautiful food. Every course was stunning as well as delicious.
We never got to eat there, our booking was cancelled a few hours before leaving us in a difficult position.
I have every sympathy for the reason but with such a strict cancelling and reconfirming policy for customers it has left me wondering if the boot had been on the other foot I would have been heavily financially penalised.
I had looked forward to eating here for a while. We booked to celebrate good news but perhaps our expectations were set too high as we were both left a little uninspired. For the cost , I would prefer other restaurants.

Menu was limited, when I said I was allergic to cheese I was brought a pre starter a few minutes later with cheese in it!
Food well presented, my wife liked hers except for dessert ,rum baba which was ok with pickled fruit which was incredibly acidic and simply inedible! Having mentioned this no alternative offered and no reduction on bill!
I will never go back!

We had been to Turners a couple of times 2 years ago and had a fantastic experience, delicious food and amazing service.
Last Monday we had very good food, but without the wow factor of two years ago. The service, however, was poor - the waiting staff seemed not to be trained up to the level required at a Michelin star restaurant. We were amused by their lack of competence rather than annoyed but it was a v expensive meal.
The end of the evening was v uncomfortable - the waiter told me my card was refused, and then my second card. The look he gave me was unnecessary. I said it must be the card machine's fault - it also refused my daughter's card! We arranged that I would phone the next day to pay but when I checked my balance I found that the money had been taken after all. I didn't enjoy that experience but others could have been vvvv upset.

Starters arrived 1h45m into meal, mains 2h30m, no warning of delay prior to arrival. No time for dessert as finished mains just before 11pm! Abandoned this birthday dinner which was not recognised by indifferent staff. Menu differed greatly from website - not a la Carte but fixed price for 3 courses - one of which we ran out of time to enjoy. Luckily I enjoyed the company of my guests!
I took my wife out for a special birthday meal to turner's and i couldn't speak highly enough of it. We had a seven course meal and everything we ate was absolutely spectacular. The service was excellent and a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend it.

We can't speak highly enough about the whole dining experience. Our first time at Turner's provided me with a memorable 65th birthday that was everything I hoped it would be. The fixed price Sunday lunch menu gave ample choice and the three hours passed very quickly.

Booked a table for my wife's 50th birthday and left a message on their answerphone the day before, as requested in the confirmation email. On arrival at the restaurant at our confirmed time, the place was closed. No telephone call, no email, no nothing before hand, and despite calling the restaurant the following day, have still not received any explanation or apology. Appalling way to run a business!
The occasion was my birthday. Turners... or Turners at 69 is my all time favourite restaurant. My first visit was 7yrs ago to celebrate one of the big "0" birthdays... since then I manage a visit about 3 times a year. There was a change last year, late summer. No longer serving the tasting menus. Now it was al a carte. The food remains amazing... choosing the number of courses which suits the individual. My party went for Sunday lunch, a 2/3course meal at a set price of £32/£38.50 per head. There was a choice of 4/5 starters, mains & desserts. Portion sizes are good... presentation excellent. My starter was the ham hock, with quail eggs, followed by turbot with brown shrimp, with a pea oil, every mouthful was bursting with flavour. By this time I was full but seeing desserts, go by to other tables... temptation was too much! I chose the rice with peach. Just right! I'll need to go again, as the roast beef & Yorkshire pudding looked phenomenal! Thanks Richard... you & your team are wonderful.
The food was wonderful and portions generous. The bacon-bread was amazingly good. The beef was slightly dry and more gravy would have been preferred, though it might have gone against the chef's instructions. I'm not sure. The wait between courses was very long and should definitely have been shorter. The overall dining experience was good but took 3 hours for a 3 course lunch.
We booked the Sunday Lunch and we had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic, the wine was from less known vineyards but very good, the service was very attentive and value for money unbeatable. Highly recommend to any foody.
It was a bit of an ordeal to be honest. The interim courses - amuses bouche etc - left us both feeling completely stuffed. And the atmosphere - who wants to whisper in a bistro?
Such a change, poor food and bad service, won't be going back! Bring back the old menu
Our dinner was a wonderful blend of tastes and beautifully presented. The table was ours for the evening so there was no sense of rushing, giving us time to enjoy each other's company. The service was attentive but not obtrusive and each course announced. A truly lovely evening.
We were there for Sunday lunch. The food was enjoyed by all with good ingredients and flavours. However for a Michelin starred restaurant the offering was ungenerous with an extra charge for bread and no amuse-bouche etc. The service was below par with, for example, menus slow to be presented, the wine list had to be requested, and plates were given to the wrong diners.
Lovely restaurant and great food! The Sunday lunch menu had so much choice, we will be back!
