Newly refurbished by lead interior designer Russell Sage, it offers a stunning new interior to compliment the enjoyable al fresco dining experience in fair weather, in what is undoubtedly one of London’s most unique areas.
Offering a classically English menu focusing on seasonal dishes from Great British suppliers, we offer traditional meals which showcase the variety and quality of the U.K’s food, from breakfast through to the evening a la carte menu.
Tuttons also offers a fantastic place to relax with a coffee or just enjoy a quick bar snack and cocktail before heading out to enjoy all that Covent Garden has to offer, and if you’re planning a party or more formal occasion, our private vaults, created from the old cellars offer a romantic and imaginative area to host in.
Terrible, rude, slow and unhelpful service. Food is ok but overpriced by 50%. If it was located anywhere else it would have gone bankrupt by now.
A large restaurant with plenty of seats. We were sat in a little booth next to the door which was a squash having our bags at our feet and the welcoming cool air in the early evening turned a little too chilly as the evening wore on. A move brasserie type menu with a smooth terrine for starters and scallops stater portion for main with broccoli. Service was friendly and we got given our bill as the server was finishing their shift.
Fabulous food. 6 empty plates (both main course and dessert!)
Great location and good food
Good value pre-theatre menu in a great location near the Royal opera House
Pre theatre menu. Not offered until requested. Trying to get the customer ordering from the more expensive a la carte? Also one of 3 starters on the pre theatre not available at 17.30, limiting choice. Not good!
Nice restaurant with a good value pre-theatre menu just near the Royal Opera House
The food was luke warm, not the best tasting either. Pork cutlet was tough, ham bon bon tasted a bit sour. Applied pie dessert was tasty, but again cold, didn't think apple pie was supposed to be cold. The menu's changed a lot since my last visit in September, its seems to have gone downhill a bit, however the cold food seems to be a theme, it was cold in September aswell. Customer service was good, helpful staff, but I'm not sure if that's enough, surely the food must be top priority.
Excellent food and excellent service. Value for money.
Great was even able to outside dinning
The pre-theatre menu is good value. Nice location
Always excellent food and service in Tuttons. One of the most consistent restaurants I know in theatre land.
I like the ambiance of Tuttons. It took a while for anyone to come to the table but after that service was good.
The prawn starter I thought was pretty average, but the main of Duck was delicious. I normally don't take dessert but couldn't resist toffee pudding which was absolutely fab!
My friend also enjoyed his meal.
We only had one large gin and tonic no other alcohol The bill was just over £100! So for atmosphere right in the centre of Covent Garden that is not bad at all.
Overall yes I would visit and recommend.
Great value for money
Had a confirmed booking through open table which they didn’t honour, we arrived and they just said they were fully booked and had no table, gave no empathy they just blamed the app so we had to leave and go and find somewhere else
Great pre theatre meal, waited for table in bar as it was raining but very small area staff went out of their way to get us seated at our table as quick as possible. Amazing food. A bit near the door and very draughty when people coming in and out. Would definitely go again.
We enjoyed the food at Tuttons, however, on being charged£4.75 for a bottle of still water we felt that we should have been told of the price before it was brought to our table. How do they justify charging this amount. Especially as I suspect it was merely poured from the tap!!!
Tuttons is a classic Covent Garden venue, with a good atmosphere among old-fashioned fittings looking out to the old market building. I ate there with friends for the first time for a long time. Pleasant friendly service and good reliable food and wine.
Really super food! Excellent service - even on a busy pre-Christmas evening when so many restaurants think this "busy period" is an excuse for sub-standard service.
Disconcerting to find that table not booked but staff quickly found a space. Service attentive and courteous. Food not as good as before but Ok for us before theatre.
Good value food for the centre of London. It's a shame that we felt squashed in which made it feel less intimate, hence only 4/5. Also service added onto the bill which does not go directly to the staff, at least that is what we were told! Swiftly removed so we could tip directly.
Excellent service & food. Waitress very friendly & helpful. Lovely lunch meet up with daughter & friend.
Average for the price. Busy lunch service. Great location.
The atmosphere was awesome. Christmas lights and decorations were everywhere in the restaurant since this was only 2 weeks out from the 25th. We had the buttered haddock and shepherds pie, they were most agreeable.
The food was great and its location, just across the street from Coventry Square mall and many other stores, was wonderful. If anyone is interested, its also a 5 min walk to the theatre district.
That was the primary reason for choosing them , and it worked well.
The only negative was our waiter. He wasn’t efficient and had a somewhat lousy disposition and attitude. They will add a service fee to the bill which is OPTIONAL. We would have paid it except for the very marginal server.
Good ambience and decor, but service was slow and not very attentive. Food was very good and reasonably priced, would be nice to have some specials
Lovely lunch at Tuttons! Service a little slow but very pleasant waiting staff and delicious food. Great location and ambience.
A lovely experience and wouldn’t hesitate in going back
Reliable, great location, been coming here for years. A lovely Saturday lunch treat.
Always great. Visit London once per year and Tuttons is always the first night’s dinner.
Great location and lovely food.
Lovely cosy restaurant with heated outdoor area. Our shiraz came warmed, which was a pleasant surprise! We then ate from the pre-theatre menu which was delicious and excellent value for money. The staff were welcoming and friendly and provided excellent service.
I was astonished at how much we were charged for bread and olives which the waiter described in one voice but in actual fact Were separate and the dishes a lot of money.
Service was patchy and we felt quite hassled at the beginning whilst we were still chatting and catching up. Don't know why this was as you say you allow 2 hours for lunch and we arrived at 1.30 and departed at 3.30 which is within this time frame.
Food was nice but a little expensive for what it was. Sides were expensive. The wine was good and the desserts fine but too many with ice cream - not a problem for me but if I was coming along with my husband who dislikes ice cream he would have had limited choice.
I really object to the service charge of 12.5% being slapped on the bill automatically so I have to ask for it to be removed, I will always ask for it to be removed and for two people it should not be added automatically.
Place great for big gatherings and celebrations
Poor service and poor food
Went here before heading to the theater. Picked it as they had a kids menu and was near the theater. The food was good on average. I liked my dish and my child liked her selection from the kids menu. On the negative: the portion size on the chicken dish was small - small piece of meat & small amount of potato (and my wife rarely ever complains that portions are small) and the open mushroom ravioli was more mushroom than actual ravioli/pasta. The brownie we had for desert was very good although my son would have preferred it was warmed up a bit. Service was good. Overall, I think my impression fit with what other reviews have stated.
Food was fantastic although a little expensive. Restaurant could do with a better atmosphere as it is very similar to a Wetherspoons in that its very busy and just sounds like 10 conversations. Maybe introduce some music - even live music - to give the place a little background support. We were sat near the door too which is like a wind tunnel but they did close one door to cut this down a little. Maybe ask for a table away from the door or outside on a nicer day (weather wasn't great on our visit). The pork was lovely and the chicken fantastic and the special venison a nearby customer had looked lovely too. Nice place and friendly staff. It needs something extra to make you become a regular though as I would be more tempted with other places to try as there is so many places available pre-theatre. Ideal for a date or a business meeting. Kids menu just the same as anywhere so could offer 11 plus year olds a smaller version of the normal menu portions as an option maybe? Just a thought.
We reserved our table in advance. Upon arrival, all of the outside dining was taken so we were seated inside. The waitress then came and told us that there was an inside table but it was in a corner near two open windows and so we changed to sit at that one. It was very considerate of the waitress to think of us and come and offer the table by the window. Overall, good food and great atmosphere. Thank you!
I had brought my sister up to London to celebrate her birthday. She is not often able to spend a day out as she is a carer for her husband. I asked if it was possible to get an outside table as it was a special occasion (I had already booked a table) Immediately we were shown an outside table. A little later we were brought complimentary glasses of prosecco.
I cannot tell how much this meant to my sister and I. It made our day and my sister now has some wonderful memories. Thank you.
A Covent Gardens staple...
We enjoyed the thoughtful hostess. Service is just fair, as our waiter was not memorable or classily trained. Food was better than expected. Great people watching venue.
