About

Nestled amongst the antique shops in the artsy end of Dorking, Surrey, Two to Four is an exciting space that is on every local gourmands speed dial. Named after its street address, 2-4 West Street, this bright and modern restaurant – which is run by local restaurateur Paul Montalto - is spread out over three floors in a charming old whitewashed building, and the intimate ambience is ideal for romantic tables à deux and intimate dinner parties. Chef Proprietor Rob Gathercole has created a robust modern Euro menu, and signature dishes include the slow-roasted pork belly with confit onions; coconut risotto; and the roasted scallops with cauliflower and raisin puree.

The service was excellent. Very attentive. The staff could not have been better. The food was delicious and an unusual menu.

Definitely a restaurant for foodies: the dishes are elaborate, artistically presented, variously flavoured and very rich, perhaps overly so.

Went for a birthday meal. Very attentive service which recognised my wife's birthday several times. Food selection is interesting and quality is very good. Portions are a bit large but then you can always leave some.

Absolutely wonderful meal all washed down with two lovely bottles of wine. First visit to the restaurant but will not be our last. The quality of the food out of this world. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Good service and pleasant food however it would have been nice to have a couple of simpler things on the menu. Expensive

Two to Four, Is in my mind an absolutely amazing restaurant. The food is to die for. The chef has a fantastic technique of mixing some amazing flavours and the way the food is laid out on the plate is like a piece of artwork. Some people will say it is pricey but they do have some excellent offers so that a really good meal doesn't actually have to cost a fortune. The staff are attentive and friendly, but never try to hurry you up which is great as I am a slow eater.
Hope to be in a position to visit more often.

Welcoming, non-pretentious atmosphere with superb service from engaging staff. Meals were of mixed standard, ranging from 'okay' to 'excellent'. We'll definitely be back to give it another try.

We were there for our anniversary. Being the top few restaurants in Dorking, we thought we should give it a chance. The waiters were attentive. Nonetheless, the food was disappointing. Not up to standard. Under seasoned mostly. Not worth the price we paid.

Excellent food but the service was haphazard to say the very least. Food was delivered we hadn't ordered and no coffee despite being ordered! Disappointing service considering the quality of the food and the cost of the meal.

This was my 3rd time at Two to Four and I simply love this place - the food is delicious and the staff is great. We definitely had a great time. I "only" gave 4 stars for the food because I have been to 2 Michelin Star Restaurants. But in terms of value for money this is outstanding.

Really good quality food. Not cheap but that's not why you'd go. Bit disappointed with one of the waiters that was a bit surly toward the end of the night, but other than that one it was all very good.

Really pleasantly surprised with this restaurant, we live ten minutes away and I wanted somewhere a bit special to take my husband for birthday without having to trek into London for a knockout meal. I heard it was in the Michelan food guide last year so I thought it must be good.
Perfect sized portions and very interesting flavours.
I have to say the breads and different flavoured butters were to die for, I over indulged there and have to admit my poor liver suffered the next day!

We went in September 2016 for our wedding anniversary. The setting was lovely and the menu was really impressive. A nice selection of different meals but not too many. Both the food and wine lived up to expectations. Would definitely recommend.

Exceeded our expectations. Beautiful food in a lovely setting. Staff were great and we were able to enjoy a relaxed evening in a very popular local restaurant.
Value for money? I would say great value for money as we absolutely loved the food. looking forward to many more visits.

Food well presented on the plate but arriving for 19:30 booking for two when most parties arrived from 20:00 meant that every course up to the dessert was rushed. The tables for two were small and therefore no room for the plates that kept arriving. At one time we had an aperitif, bread, olives, a taster dish and a bottle of wine on the table which were only cleared (though bread & olives not finished) when it became apparent that the starter which was about to land, had nowhere to go. We also had sight of the main before the last mouthful of the starter was eaten. A reasonable time elapsed between main and the dessert but only because we asked to be left alone for a while. A shot glass dessert type concoction was served with the bill but we were clueless as to how we were meant to try it as we were not furnished with a tea spoon. For £80 a head I have had a markedly better experience elsewhere. Go again? No chance.

Our second visit. We need to go there more often. The food was excellent - we all had different dishes across 3 courses, so that's 12 delicious options. It's not cheap for a la carte and an evening set menu would be a great addition, but very good nonetheless.

Having dined here on a number of occasions, I can honestly say the food is well thought out with attention to detail as well as a desire to keep standards high. It is a pleasant surprise to find a place trying to excel in a town that has very few independent restaurants and lots of chains. The setting is in a typical Surrey small cottage and is a little cramped, but it is charming and the decor is smart. The staff are permanent and are discreet. The set menus are really very good value and the offering seems to change regularly. I m relieved that this place exists as it is nice to have a reliable "special" occasions type place to go to, where it is professional on all levels.

This is a lovely restaurant. The food is always delicious and beautifully displayed on the plate. It's a little on the pricey side and we only visit as a special treat but it is worth every penny. Can't wait until we can afford to visit again.

We had a fantastic meal here. Starting with local gins, mussels from the specials menu and then for me a tasting of duck. Everything was excellent, with a great blend of flavours and mix of textures which were able to delight. This all supported by excellent service from the waiter who was very knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients and what was on offer. We will be back soon.

On a cold wet Tuesday evening we were delighted to find the warm welcoming Two to Four restaurant cosy. Excellent service throughout the evening. We had the fixed price 2 courses for £19 menu which was very interesting and both my wife and I would delighted with the quality of the food. The wine by the glass was fine although relatively few options were offered here. The full wine list is very extensive. Cannot think of anything negative to say about this restaurant. Strongly recommended!

Knew it was there, passed it often enough and decided it would be ideal for our Wedding Anniversary dinner. I'm not one to give 5 stars (don't know why!) but this was so close to
being absolutely perfect. Lovely warm ambience, very welcoming staff, well prepared and presented food. The menu was definitely mouthwatering and we had some difficulty making
our choice, my wife had the Lamb parfait and I the venison. I am quite easily pleased despite my earlier comment about star ratings so perhaps I am not the best person to write reviews!
However, have no hesitation in saying Two to Four is very well worth the visit and we shall be
going again.
