Good food in nice surroundings. It was pie night and Captain Nemo pie was excellent. I love fish, but not things such as prawns which are often in fish pies. This was just fish, potatoes and peas and it was the best ever. So much fish and expertly cooked.
Great roast beef lunch. Good portion size. Excellent service. Fabulous views. Investment needed in building and gardens.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Very COVID-19 aware so felt safe and relaxed entering the building. I had sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection- thank you!
Will definitely return for both meals and casual coffee with friends.
We had a very enjoyable meal at Uplands. The staff were very attentive and the quality of the food and service was very good and above expectations.
The service was excellent and the food was very enjoyable
great location excellent food and service will book again
Ambience was good a noise levels low as restaurant was almost empty, no doubt due to Covid restrictions
Service was good
Very very limited menu, again I presume due to lack of customers. We both had the 3 meats Sunday roast which was good, could have done with more veg.
A lovely venue, beautifully presented with great views and excellent service. A lovely lunch with great choice.
I would definitely recommend to others.
Ate at Uplands for the first time last Sunday, the roast was delicious, as was the thai fish cake starter and the sticky toffee pudd for dessert was just scrumptious....
Service was great.
Although we have been in for drinks a few times our first dining experience was lovely and we will be taking friends and family next time definitely.
Thank you.
Lovely setting, comfortable seating, fantastic staff and lovely food. What more do you want from a restaurant. This is my first port of call whenever I’m in the area and it never disappoints.
As our visit coincided with news years day, we were expecting the menu to include a roast dinner. It was explained that the owners were going on holiday and so this was why the choice was limited
We both had fish and enjoyed it
It won’t put us off going again but I was disappointed
Whilst we were eating we heard the waitress tell others that there was now only one portion of potatoes and then all they had were skinny fries, not really what you want on New Years Day
Felt more effort could have been made
Service and ambiance great
On line booking worked well for this Sunday lunch. We had starters and mains that were well prepared and very pleasant. My starter, chipolata sausage, was particularly good. Our mains, roast beef and roast lamb respectively, were well prepared and very satisfying. Front of house staff were extremely welcoming and sustained a relaxed atmosphere by being unobtrusively attentive throughout. Thank you very much.
Fabulous meal and stay at uplands. The service was very good indeed and the food was exceptional with a good variety of dishes to suit all tastes. I would recommend the home-baked pies! Very pleasant atmosphere and relaxed. Will return.
Great food and atmosphere as always
I dined here about a month ago with family and enjoyed it so much we ate their again this weekend. The food is on a par with the beautiful views that you can take in while dining at the Uplands Restaurant. I enjoyed every part of my dining experience at this establishment. From the lovely food to the wonderful staff I can't fault this place. Superb from start to finish.
Lovely setting, amazing view, great food
Uplands is a wonderful place for lunch or dinner if you want to venture out of Grange or Cartmel. Friendly family run place and dog friendly
The staff and food are excellent at uplands , we come here at any opportunity , the staff and manager are great with my kids, and would recommend uplands to every one
Nice setup but waiting staff require training in service etiquette. Visited at the end of the day and some of the food had obviously been prepared much earlier in the day. E.g. Yorkshire Puddings and roast potatoes. Value was good but if we went again would not take the Sunday Lunch offering in the evening.
The staff are great, very welcoming and attentive. We have eaten here in several occasions and the food has always been really tasty & satisfying. Normally the food comes out of the kitchen piping hot but on this occasion we chose burgers & they were just warm when we got them...still ate them though! Try the Unsworths Crusader Gold beer on tap, it's very drinkable!
Good food friendly staff with a pleasant ambience over looking morecombe bay
HIGH STANDARD OF QUALITY OF MEALS. CANNOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT TIME
Tired looking premises when we arrived, but we decided that the food could still be good. How wrong we were! Old fashioned dining room, poor decor and not helped by the constant playing of 1960's music. It was slightly saved by the lovely Bay view.
Waiter pleasant at the bar, but at the table said to my wife 'what do you want?' I at least got a 'Sir'. The Sauvignon Blanc wine was bland, served in a cheap looking glass and had little flavour.
We stayed only long enough for a main course which was disappointing. My wife had a steak which was greasy and fatty, first taste of my Venison Henry was good but the vegetables were not appealing. The waiter said he'd inform the chef about the fatty steak but soon afterwards we saw the chef who didn't say a word.
Not a place we'll be visiting again.
Very briefly this is a restaurant trying to be more than it achieves. The food was okay but not out of the ordinary. My husband and another diner complained about their main course. In fairness the staff handled the complaint well. The restaurant has an outdoor terrace with lovely views towards the Duddon valley with the sea beyond. The staff are pleasant but not trained to provide a silver service.
This has to be one of the highlights of the last few years attending at Uplands for our wedding anniversary dinner. 10/10 for everything. Never had such a meal or quality of service like that in such a long time.
The whole evening was delightful. The staff were friendly and obliging, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and looked good on the plate. My steak was cooked to my preference and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Having last visited uplands restaurant 5 or 6 years ago and being impressed, I can't help but feel a little disappointed this time round. There was nothing wrong with the food, it was as good as any good pub grub, but if I'd wanted that I would have gone to a pub in the village. My partners steak was cooked well and my fish pie was tasty, but the chocolate mouse pudding was very grainy in texture. The decor is a little confused, italian style busts with pop art place mats? The staff were pleasant and views were amazing. I won't rush back but also won't cross it off the list altogether.
Stayed at Uplands for one night and had dinner. There is a varied choice. The food was superb, I had goats cheese and fresh figs as a starter and sea bass for mains. The fish was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were very good. Tried the toffe sticky pudding afterwards which is a must. Was to die for. The service was excellent, very efficient and staff very friendly.
