Urban Bar & Brasserie
JohnPaul Lappin heads up the kitchen delivering classic dishes presented in his own inimitable contemporary style. The menu focuses on seasonal and, wherever possible, locally sourced products.
Situated in Glasgow City Centre equidistant from Queen Street station and Glasgow Central station, 3 minute walk, makes Urban ideal for business/conference meals. We also have Glasgow's most popular theatres on our doorstep so start your evening here at Urban.
Met a friend for lunch , this is our third visit to date. We love the food, attentive staff and the general atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere - great food - good value - really good service and a beautiful booth
One of our very favourite venues, for lunch or dinner.
I have visited the Urban Bar and Brasserie before and always have a great experience. The staff are very attentive and helpful. Surroundings are beautiful and the food excellent.
Lovely restaurant with nice staff. My meal was disappointing, I didn't like my soup. The duck was far too salty for me. I found dessert choice limited and uninspiring. The waitress offered us free coffee as I hadn't liked my main but then she added them to the bill and my husband paid it. Maybe just my choices but I would not rush back.
Our waiter Stuart was fantastic and couldn't be more attentive. I would defiantly visit again because of this.
For its location and ambience in my opinion this is the best in Glasgow. I enjoyed my meal as did my wife but I have had better in previous visits. The service is first class and the courses were served without any delay but with enough time in between. I would say that like a lot of other places in Glasgow there doesn’t seem to be any dress code these days which is disappointing as eating out for me is always a special occasion and therefore some effort is required, a sign of the times I guess but maybe an elegant establishment as Urban is could take the lead. I will be back as I’ve never been disappointed.
Both my courses were excellent but my wife had issues with both of hers. Not enough prawns or crab in her starter and her lamb was over cooked in her main. On the whole a bit disappointing.
Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommended!
My husband was disappointed with his steak.. Not the taste... But the way it was presented on the plate. Not much for thee price he paid.
Great venue - intimate and romantic with soft lighting and candles.
Menu was good. Option to have set menu which was very good value.
Our dishes were delicious. One star off as no Moët Champagne but we had Lauren Perrier instead.
Would definitely return!!
Lovely meal in tasteful ambience.
Waitperson very attentive and personable.will go back as soon as possible
Waited a while to be served. Food arrived was cold. Was given a free cocktail as goodwill gesture. Just happened to be an anniversary dinner. Not in a hurry to return
Great food, enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Really excellent food and service. Great location for shops and highly recommend
For many years we were regulars for meals and drinks but fell out of love with Urban. I decided to give it another try, service ambiance was very good, our server was excellent, Rebecca I think...ref food thought portion of hake was a little on the small side but otherwise nicely cooked.. additional portion prawns at £6 for 4 prawns sitting on a bed of rocket was uninspiring and disappointing. Overall very enjoyable evening we will Definitely be back.
Great food and service, all in all a great evening out and I would definitely go back. Good value for money given the overall quality. Just one or two small points such as telling us what cheeses are on the cheese board and there was a small issue with our bill (though they sorted this pretty quickly); really very good overall. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Only one Chicken dish to chose , plenty of Fish dishes if you like fish , which I don’t .
Dessert variety was disappointing
The food that we had was very nice & presented well.
Service was slow waitress covering large section with big parties.
Slow to take drinks order pre wine and food order
One main came and it was cold, took that and side of chips away, returned fresh main no side took about half hour
No offer of reducing bill for the wait
Also extended time at table which was to be back by 4pm which became after 5pm.
Waitress very pleasant
Had a lovely meal. Couldn’t fault it at all. Would come back again.
The market menu was ostensibly reasonable value but the soup was thin as if devoid of stock . We all had steak at a £3 supplement but it was a poor cut with too much gristle. With two glasses of wine and one beer, starters and main course only (no pudding or coffee) the bill without a gratuity was close to £100 for four and , overall, was somewhat of a disappointment.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food, fabulous staff. This was our first visit but certainly won’t be our last.
An excellent dining experience staff were very helpful food was really good
Booked a business dinner while in Glasgow with a travelling colleague last week. What a great find! We selected from the fixed price menu and everything we perfect. Great drinks, wonderful starter and main course and one managed dessert as well. Service was efficient and attentive without being annoying. We liked it some much we booked another larger team dinner for later this week!
Great atmosphere and good fun. Nice buzz and beautiful people. Lovely decor and lighting. Really enjoyed the night.
Excellent as always. The cote de Boeuf was superb
Great restaurant - loved the food and the service was excellent. Look forward to returning soon.
Lovely restaurant with a posh feel. The set dinner and cocktails specials made it very affordable. The food was very well made and beautifully presented.
Amazing night, restaurant was even better than I expected and the food was outstanding for the price. Would highly recommend.
This has been a constant favourite that never fails. From a casual fisrt drink to a meal, it is perfect. I particularly love the leather booths. Food is tasty without being overwhelming in these days of eat as much as you want. Staff are present but intelligently cognisant of what you are doing - quick bite or long chatter. I cannot recommend Urban Bar & Brasserie enough.
Excellent food and service, delighted not to be deafened by loud music which is often prevalent in other venues
Did think that the cost of a large glass of wine (£6.70.) was ridiculous, and 2 teas cost £6.50. (teabag + water?)
Apart from these complaints we did enjoy the experience - cocktails were lovely - we are going back on 22 October
Great trip to Urban and up to the standard we expect. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Food was wow!!
Had a lovely meal with friends celebrating friends 60th birthday. However was not offered the special 3 course menu, had to ask for it and they got the bill wrong st the end of the night
Loved the Urban bar and restaurant. Four of us went on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed a meal and drinks. Service was first rate and food lovely. Would recommend and would certainly return.
Comfortable seating in a booth with plenty of elbow room, no distractions from other tables and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Overall ambience relaxing and pleasant and no feeling of hassle with courses being delivered in good time allowing breaks for conversation and enjoyment of the wine.
Another great meal! 3 rd time and fish cake was fabulous! Staff are great ! Highly recommend!
As always the quality of the food was excellent with particular praise for how the steaks were cooked. As we have been several times we are aware that it can be a bit pricey but as this was a special occasion it was worth it. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Great. Excellent service.
Great food, service and wine. Towards the end of our lunch the restaurant was a little warm and stuffy.
Booked as part of the family celebrations for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. Venue was somewhere I have attended but not with Mum and Dad so I was interested to learn that there is no ground floor accessible toilet. Strange in a venue of this stature. Something I thin should be addressed.
Service was friendly and efficient.
Food was well presented and time for service well proportioned.
