Urban Bar & Brasserie
JohnPaul Lappin heads up the kitchen delivering classic dishes presented in his own inimitable contemporary style. The menu focuses on seasonal and, wherever possible, locally sourced products.
Situated in Glasgow City Centre equidistant from Queen Street station and Glasgow Central station, 3 minute walk, makes Urban ideal for business/conference meals. We also have Glasgow's most popular theatres on our doorstep so start your evening here at Urban.
Great atmosphere and good fun. Nice buzz and beautiful people. Lovely decor and lighting. Really enjoyed the night.
Excellent as always. The cote de Boeuf was superb
Great restaurant - loved the food and the service was excellent. Look forward to returning soon.
Lovely restaurant with a posh feel. The set dinner and cocktails specials made it very affordable. The food was very well made and beautifully presented.
Amazing night, restaurant was even better than I expected and the food was outstanding for the price. Would highly recommend.
This has been a constant favourite that never fails. From a casual fisrt drink to a meal, it is perfect. I particularly love the leather booths. Food is tasty without being overwhelming in these days of eat as much as you want. Staff are present but intelligently cognisant of what you are doing - quick bite or long chatter. I cannot recommend Urban Bar & Brasserie enough.
Excellent food and service, delighted not to be deafened by loud music which is often prevalent in other venues
Did think that the cost of a large glass of wine (£6.70.) was ridiculous, and 2 teas cost £6.50. (teabag + water?)
Apart from these complaints we did enjoy the experience - cocktails were lovely - we are going back on 22 October
Great trip to Urban and up to the standard we expect. Staff attentive but not intrusive. Food was wow!!
Had a lovely meal with friends celebrating friends 60th birthday. However was not offered the special 3 course menu, had to ask for it and they got the bill wrong st the end of the night
Loved the Urban bar and restaurant. Four of us went on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed a meal and drinks. Service was first rate and food lovely. Would recommend and would certainly return.
Comfortable seating in a booth with plenty of elbow room, no distractions from other tables and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Overall ambience relaxing and pleasant and no feeling of hassle with courses being delivered in good time allowing breaks for conversation and enjoyment of the wine.
Another great meal! 3 rd time and fish cake was fabulous! Staff are great ! Highly recommend!
As always the quality of the food was excellent with particular praise for how the steaks were cooked. As we have been several times we are aware that it can be a bit pricey but as this was a special occasion it was worth it. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
Great. Excellent service.
Great food, service and wine. Towards the end of our lunch the restaurant was a little warm and stuffy.
Booked as part of the family celebrations for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. Venue was somewhere I have attended but not with Mum and Dad so I was interested to learn that there is no ground floor accessible toilet. Strange in a venue of this stature. Something I thin should be addressed.
Service was friendly and efficient.
Food was well presented and time for service well proportioned.
great food, the young waiter is fantastic, but the place is for young people!
Excellent food. I would definitely return there again.
Our last night in Scotland couldn’t have been better. Great service and great food. Extra points for gluten free options as well.
High quality, good value for the food, interesting menu options, and friendly service. Would definitely go back!
I normally like it here , it is a nice looking place, but we were a little early so told them we would wait in the bar, only feet away, but no-one came to tell us when it was ready. No doubt because of the size of the group they were dealing with. There was an absolutely huge party booked at same time as us so very noisy and had difficulty having a conversation. Had booked for the 22 Oz steak with bottle of wine offer but was told that we both had to have it cooked the same way, so they weren't willing to just halve it in two and cook them separately. It was just silly to take our booking at the same time as the other party. Just really didn't enjoy the evening.
Loved the look and atmosphere. Cocktails great and good value. Service very good. I found the quality of food on market menu disappointing. My husband ate from the main menu and really enjoyed his meal.
I have been before and the food and service has been outstanding. Not this time. When we arrived at the table, we were offered some bread and olives for the table which are usually complimentary. We were then charged for these when the bill came. The service was adaquate. Nothing more, nothing less. Then later on that night, my partner was violently ill. This could only have been from eating here as nothing else had been consumed since early that morning. Overall very disappointing compared to previous visits down the years.
Thank you for your review. We are extremely concerned about the possibility of illness due to our menu. Firstly, I trust your partner is better. We have very exacting standards on food safety--its a priority to us. I would like to discuss this further so we can fully investigate ourselves. Did you partner require to contact a doctor? If you can contact the restaurant and leave your details I will call you back. Alan Tomkins, owner
We eat here all the time , staff are always welcoming and super accommodating, food is beautiful and service is excellent, great for special occasions especially, used to have a piano and at weekends this was fabulous and made urban brasserie stand out from most other pubs , bring back the piano please , love this place great value for money 👍🏼👍🏼
Went here for daughter's graduation and had the Graduation Menu. We all found great choice from this menu alone and the service was very proficient with the waiter(s) providing a considered measure of attentiveness and friendliness to make our experience (and consequently our daughter's special day) notable.
This is the 2nd time we have been to Urban Bar & Brasserie I would say there is not a lot on the menu but what you get is excellent. Our bottle of wine was not chilled I told the lovely waitress and she got us an ice bucket. I think it's due to the size of the restaurant it was very noisy. After our meal we sat outside to finish of our wine.
We were booked in for 7pm on Saturday night for 8 people. We had friends travelling from Edinburgh and Ayr. At 5 pm I got a call on my phone saying that the restaurant was closed because of an electrical fault . We weren’t offered any alternative venue and were left trying to find somewhere to eat at short notice. As you can imagine not an easy task on a Saturday night for 8 people.
We arrived at the restaurant to be told that they had no gas and would not be able to give us our table for dinner that evening. We had a booking and yet had received no courtesy call or email to tell us this was the case and allow us to make other plans. The girl on reception was not sympathetic at all and offered no alternative suggestions. I then was disappointed not to receive any sort of email apology from my booking and was disturbed to find out they were still allowing people to make bookings through Open Table. Terrible service and such a disappointment that could have been avoided with a simple call or email.
The service was shocking the gas had been turned off in my opinion they should have told us there was no food on rather than try to do there best we were also charged for 2 drinks that we never had the girls took the order but didn’t bring the drinks
Great meal, food fantastic. Requested Booth and on arrival, seated in Booth. Service excellent waiter was very attentive.
Enjoyed a very good meal with friends. Menu choice and service was good. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Lovely lunch from the Market menu, which is good value. All the staff were very nice.
Food was great as was the service a good place to eat and drink if you so wish
Would go back. However will look for online deal next time as more attractive than going direct! Also, on 2-course lunch, was not able to opt for main + dessert instead of starter + main!
I’ve been to urban over a number of years and have always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, I think the menu, food and service have reduced over the years and it’s time to find somewhere new.
Service was good, food delicious and surroundings beautiful. Would definitely recommend. Been twice now and will definitely be back soon I'm sure!
Been before and really liked it but not enough waiting staff this time. Finished plates sat on table for 30 minutes not great
Excellent for business or pleasure. Will be back!
First time coming and we had dinner and few drinks, we both had a lovely time and great service. Will be back again soon
