Valley Inn Restaurant and Martini Bar
I love the atmosphere of this place. It is very reminiscent of the Hollywood's heyday restaurants. Big cushy booths and an intimate atmosphere.
All was perfect as always.
Really good food a bit overpriced but worth it for the atmosphere.
Wonderful restaurant and run by the owners who are there every night!
Requested to sit in the room with a TV to watch the Baseball Game- Easily accommodated. Neighborhood gem. Quality Beef.
Always our favorite! Jared was a great waiter, food was fantastic and ambience is classic!
I gave the food 2 stars because the food I took home—- I was planning to eat for lunch the next day but the broccoli was horribly browned by the next day. This being said my salmon was about 3 stars really, the starter salad was chopped romaine with julienne carrots (I asked for no tomatoes), the vinaigrette was ok, descent not special. For the price I could have cooked it at home just as simply but with more flavor. The flourless chocolate cake was adequate for my sweet tooth but lackluster in presentation, texture and the crust was so-so and I’m not sure what it was made of (I asked for no whipped cream). The best part of the meal was my martini which I’d happily indulge in again. Don’t get me wrong I’d try it again but I suspect it’s an overpriced wannabe Steakhouse that must’ve been happening in its day. Now it’s just adequately prepared meals without any real thought in presentation and service. The service was also adequate but sloppy.
Been wanting to try this place for years. loved the "old school" ambiance. nice varied menu, great food and good cocktails. will definitely go back.
We were there for our anniversary and if it wasn't for the bus boy we would have no one to take care of us. We were so disappointed we asked to have our dessert packaged to take home so we could at least enjoy.
First time at the restaurant and loved it. Food and dessert was delicious. Enjoyed sitting in the smaller room. Appreciated being able to relax throughout our meal without feeling rushed. Victoria was our waitress and she was a real treat.
The Valley Inn is at the top of the list as a dining delight. As a customer for over 35 years , we never had a bad meal, lunch or dinner. Always great service and NO ONE could be nicer or more accommodating than Sofie or Boris. The ribs are THE BEST in Souther California for sure. OR throw a dart at the menu and enjoy one of the finest meals you ever had.
The vintage setting was beautiful and the food was good too. Excellent service.
We find the prices a little high----$42 for a steak that was on the smaller side. Also, we came because two people in our group enjoy the prime rib sandwich and it was no longer on the menu. Also, no bread was provided to our group of eight.
Everything was excellent. They know how to cook lobster better than anybody. And, of course martinis were excellent.
Good menu, but the dining room was quite noisy. As groups left it gradually became quieter.
From the minute we walked in the door... a welcome reception from what was one of the owners... very nice personal touch! The service was absolutely wonderful! We didn’t catch the name of our busboy/food runner, but he was great! Our server, Sondra, was absolutely fabulous! She went beyond opening one of our bottles of wine that had “corkage” issues... like a true sommelier! The food was amazing! Highly recommend the seared tuna, the omg cheesy garlic bread and any of the soups! Oh, and the escargot... and heck...pretty much anything!
We love going to The Valley Inn, the owners are exceptional hosts. This time we went on a date night - plus they had the lobster special - YUMMY
Great food and service. Owners are the nicest people.
Very convenient. Loved the Bernaise sauce with my Filet. Couldn’t resist the Flourless Chocolate Cake.
We love the old school restaurants and we try to enjoy them because so many are disappearing. The Valley Inn has the charm and great food selection and friendly service. Cheers!
72 years later and still going strong. The food and service were excellent.
Great food and service. Wine glasses filled up no skimping. Owners are there and do whatever they need to make you happy.
Overall it was okay. Garlic cheese bread was good. Salads with the entrees were simple. I had the pasta pomodoro, which was exactly as described on the menu. My husband had the sand dabs, was disappointed there was no sauce and was just a fried fish served with tarter sauce. Had to ask for lemons for the fish, water refills were far and few. Saving grace of the meal was the cheesecake. It was made in house and actually really good with a nice raspberry sauce.
Glad we went, wouldn’t need to go again.
It was a very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the earthquake took place while were still dining. However, the service remained professional and efficient. The staff continued to be attentive. Many of the patrons exited the restaurant in a hurry moments after the quake. Understandable as it was an unnerving experience. Will be dining at your restaurant soon again.
This place has been around for 50 years
It's so refreshing to go to an old school restaurant where the noise level is low and service is great. Food is super
Have been here 4 times in the last 3 months and have recommend to friends that tell me they will be back.
Always great service and food! We love our “neighborhood” restaurant.
Birthday dinner for my dad turning 87
Great charm and atmosphere, but surprisingly and disappointingly dull food. Service was spotty, but overall fine.
Fabulous place, has remained to keep itself charming and like it has always been in years past.
Food and service were amazing. Portions a good size. Great menu.
Fun, funky and yummy comfort food with an old school ambiance reminiscent of Musso & Franks. Don't miss the garlic cheese bread!
Old school is good. While everyone is trying to re-invent every traditional dish Valley Inn and Martini Bar keep old school charm, old school service and old school dishes alive and well. Yes, there's plenty of butter, oil, fat and calories. However, you can also order healthier alternatives to that butter filled backed potato and fried calamari. Nice selections and something for everyone. Best ground steak in the city; great fried chicken (takes 30 minutes-call in your order!) Wonderful steaks, huge shrimp cocktail and every dinner comes with soup or salad - good soup or salad! Sometimes old fashioned can be cool and this place is very quiet, you can talk and hear yourself think and the service is first class.
Great local restaurant whose food has improved greatly. A gem loved by many w a fantastic bar area.
Locals love this place. First visit since 1982 when we lived in the Valley. Nothing changed! Not even our waiter press! Good time.
Our server, Chris, was fantastic! My friend’s pasta dish was great (vegetarian). I ordered two appetizers, of which one was inedible— the bruschetta— it was swimming in a sea of balsamic vinegar. Couldn’t eat it. They kindly removed the charge from our bill. Other than that, it was fine.
Consistently good. Comfortable old time atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff.
I would recommend your establishmentire because of the ambience and service.
The food needs to improve. We had the chicken which was over cooked.
Last time we came we had the Tuna dish which was small and not very fresh. My husband had the salmon and the recipe was plain.
For what you charge I would prefer to pay less.
I know this restaurant is Historic! I love the selection. We wanted to watch the basketball playoffs and they sat us in a room with a TV. The wait staff was attentive to all of our wishes and the food was delicious!
As always delicious food great service and warm and welcoming atmosphere.
All was good. Server was right there, the cosmo was made perfectly the chicken piccata was yummy. It is old school but very comfortable. I always enjoy it there.
