Veeraswamy, UK's oldest Indian restaurant in Piccadilly,
has been the rendezvous of the famous and fashionable as well as lots of ordinary lovers of Indian food since its inception in 1926. The luxurious, chic, and exotic décor evokes Maharaja's palaces of the 1920s. A menu of classical dishes from throughout India is combined with more contemporary creations.
National Geographic, the highly respected travel magazine, has ranked it as one of the 10 Best Destination Restaurants in the World. No other UK restaurant is in this top 10 list.
Dinner - Monday to Saturday - 5.30pm - 10.30pm & Sunday - 6pm - 10.15pm
Beautiful fresh food, excellent service and a definite winner. We will go back for a "treat" lunch - fresh flavours, clean eating.
With so many Indian restaurants in London it was hard to choose. The minute we saw the beautiful dining room at Veeraswamy we knew we were in for a treat. The dishes and the sauces were nothing short of amazing. The only disappointment was we could not order more. It will always remain on our list of top choices when we are in London.
If you go for lunch and can opt for a set menu you might obtain higher value for money. If dining go for their 65GBP tasting menu in the first place instead of working a la carte which will add up to roughly the samr.

We've become regulars at Veeraswamy and are never disappointed. Great food and great service.
It's a really well rounded experience -- creative indian dishes, good service, well stocked and inventive bar, nicely dressed clientele, and overall relaxed but special atmosphere. You are made to feel a priority.
Great food in a lovely setting. Attentive service.
Excellent as ever a favourite restaurant that never disappoints
Extremely expensive for what you get, type and quality of food plus the service are not for 100 pounds per person
Bad experience ever I got
The way that manager deal and spoke to as was very rudely
Anniversary Dinner. Thank you for making it a special evening. Food was wonderful, service fantastic.
I decided to return to Veeraswmay's after seeing i treceived a Michelin star. We had the set lunch, which was very tasty - just spicy enough and left us feeling satiated.
Service was very attentive. Overall I would recommend this for people who want to try an upmarket curry. Very enjoyable experience.
Nice ambience, awesome food.
Superb food and the only restaurant outside India that we have tasted such authentic Keralan flavours.
Decor great now too - stunning murano glass chandeliers.
This was my second visit, the first being some ten years ago. I thought it was good then, but the meal we had the other evening was one of the best Indian meals I have had. It came as no surprise to learn that they had just received a Michelin Star!
We love this restaurant . Food is creative, tasty and consistently good. We have visited many times and will always return.
Most enjoyable evening. Wonderful food -- delicious and beautifully presented. Loved the pineapple curry. Lamb shank was excellent. View of Regent Street was a bonus. The manager came around to chat which made us feel welcome. Looking forward to returning.
Very good food and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We didn't have alcohol so the bill for 3 was a bit punchy for an afternoon lunch.
Only criticism would be to reduce the price by an overall £40 for the 3, as would be in keeping with other good restaurants.
Overall, the service from the staff was excellent.
Don't go alone. You'll be ignored. Also, their coasting on their reputation. Some great spices and sauces. Otherwise, mediocre food.
Excellent food. Manager is very kind and had chef make saag paneer. Also enjoyed lamb knuckles - meat fell off the bone. Make sure to have reservations. Can't wait to return.
The food is wonderful, service consistently attentive and beautify ambiance. Wonderful choices among the menu for every possible taste and diet resteiction.
We took my father here to celebrate his 88th birthday. He really enjoyed the experience and at some stage would like to go back again.
Service was excellent; staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very flavoursome, in particular the Tandoori Green Prawn and Raj Kachori. Atmosphere improved as the evening went on though I didn't consider it to be particularly romantic - perhaps better suited for friends and family who are interested in an all-round experience. Overall would definitely recommend.
Food is amazing I would say the meat dishes are more tastier than the vegetarian ones. It's a bit pricey but for a one off on a special occasion it's worth it. The food is tasty the restaurant has lovely decor and the history makes it very special. The cocktails are yum you can actually taste the alcohol. Glad I booked.
Great food and nice presentation of dishes but they allocated a table in the back room not by the Windows which was dark although we went at 5.30 and the other tables were all free until we left
I have tried many Indian restaurants in London, this has to be one of the best! The service is promt and friendly and the food is delicious. Stand out dishes were the chicken tikka and the raj Kachori for starters and the paneer for mains and the rose kulfi was to die for!
I was excited
A delightful setting and ambiance and beautifully placed in Regents Street.
My son and I wanted somewhere we'd heard reports about and this seemed a good choice.
The food was wonderful and nicely presented in sensible portions and everything was delightful except the bill - which clearly showed that being the oldest Indian Restaurant comes at a price.
Still a delightful experience - but at a price!
This is our favorite Indian restaurant! We must dine here very time we visit London. Even our Indian friends agree with us. Every food we order has never disappointed us. I can't wait to go back again.
Our favorite Indian restaurant, and a must when visiting from New Jersey. Even my normally fussy 11 year old son looks forward to the annual visit to veeraswamy. Spices are complex rather than overpowering and even the desserts are perfect. Can't wait until next year!!
Second time to Veeraswamy within a relatively short period and it was again a very pleasant experience from the ground floor entrance greeting to the service in the restaurant itself. The food is well prepared anglo Indian with clean and distinct tastes. There is a good wine list that is reasonably well priced. Would be happy to return.
The food is amazingly tasty even though over priced it is fine every now and again
Simply the best, When I visit London twice a year, a must stop is this restaurant, however 42 pounds for a curry for one person is beyond expensive.
No complaints everything was of a high standard. I would recommend going a little later in the eve and it was pretty empty at 6, got busier when we left at approx. 8pm.
I am surprised to find that I had never been to Veeraswamy before but I will certainly be back. Every aspect of the experience was appealing - food, wine, room and service.
We went for an anniversary meal on a Sunday evening and were not disappointed by quality of food nor quantity served up. Make sure you have a healthy appetite if you go for starters and mains with side dishes. The mixed platter starter was a triumph and we both opted for lamb specials as our main which delivered flavour with the right level of spice. Service is professional, friendly but unobtrusive. Well worth a visit for special occasions.
Veeraswamy, Regent Street. Booked this for a special occasion with a close friend. First time at visiting this restaurant. Initial impression when I entered the small hallway, was not great. Then on arrival via the lift, I was very impressed. We took the tasting menu and everything was delicious. Not over spicy and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was flavorful and hot but it would have been nice if the server suggested a different menu item as we ordered two of the same curry based dishes. We also were not aware that we could order an item that was not on the menu until the manager came by.
Amazing evening. Food and service was perfect.
From start to finish we were trea
