What Insiders Are Saying
Verdi's is a proper neighbourhood Italian restaurant in Stepney Green with homemade pasta and bread that delivers every single time.
Monday deal was great value for money - would definitely recommend
A delightful restaurant in the east end of London, with Authentic and tasty, well prepared and presented Italian cuisine. Friendly staff give great service, and overall it is great value for money. I have no hesitation in recomending Verdi's, and am looking forward to my next visit. Grazie!
Such a lovely little place. 100% recommend and such good value for money! Best Rossini I’ve ever had too!
Very friendly staff! Amazing proper Italian pizza!
I had the tortellini, there was very little of it and the crab filling was pretty tasteless. Very disappointing
Great as always - lovely atmosphere now with great staff giving a warm welcome and delicious food.
And better music too!
My favourite restaurant in east london, welcoming staff, delicious food
Visit! You won’t regret it, what a lovely place, highly recommended
Superb food - chef really knows what they're doing with flavours. Lovely summery menu.
Could do with kids options. Smaller pizza/pasta plates and ice cream.
We were pretty much the only customers until 7pm when it began to get busier.
Definitely worth a visit, great food and good wine.
A very friendly, warm and professional welcome. Attentive without being intrusive. Delightful Italian regional home cooking. There is an in-house pizza oven, so if you order a pizza, it will be as fresh as they can be. A great selection to choose from from on a seasonal menu. I am happy to return over and over. It is worth a tube ride to Stepney Green for sure! Enjoy!
Fantastic place, best in London! Real italian food
I go regularly and love the food and team at Verdi’s.
The menu has recently changed and a little for the worse in my opinion, but it was still highly enjoyable and great value.
Certainly coming back.
Very nice place and food. Best arancini i’ve had in a while! Had the special that night which was squid and potato cream tagliatelle which was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We also shared a calzone and it was very generous in terms of portion size. Recommended wine was lovely. Staff were really friendly and would definitely be back soon!
Very friendly staff. Food excellent value especially when some dishes are on promotion. Wine price higher than expected
The food, wine and service are always perfect! I would recommend Verdi's to anyone
This was our fifth time dining at Verdi's, and we always have a positive experience overall. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The pasta dishes are excellent. I think the ambiance is quite romantic usually and perfect for a date night. However this time we were seated near a family with children and they were running around. I was a bit concerned when one small child ran into a wall at full speed! We have no problem with the restaurant being family friendly, and understand its not easy to ensure parents keep their children from being disruptive to other guests, but this one thing did detract from the usual ambiance and food slightly and thats why I gave this visit 4 rather than 5 stars.
It was the second time we went there. The restaurant was perhaps on the quieter side this time, but the food was so good again, everything feels freshly home cooked, the freshly made pasta is perfectly cooked al dente, the service was great and with a smile. Prices are very reasonable with mains at £8-12. Watch out for the lovely negronis, there such a good way to start a meal there. Would recommend, not least if you’re tired of the high street chains. You’ll really feel welcome to this authentic corner of Italy.
Terrible experience on Friday, they have changed their chef. I used to go all the time, we used to have the ricotta and truffle tortelloni. Took my parents Friday night. Was meant to be a special evening. Ordered an expensive bottle of wine and was looking forward to a lovely meal. Burrata was burst open, looked sloppy. On the waiter’s recommendation, both boyfriend and mother ordered the crab tortellini. Terrible. Just awful. To clarify it was Ravioli not tortelloni, came with no sauce and 5 bits of pasta for 14 quid. Tortelloni was their biggest seller, replaced with something a London fox would refuse. Terrible value for money. Overworked, chewy and undercooked pasta, filling tasted like jar supermarket sandwich filling crab paste. So disappointing. When we told waiter he didn’t seem to get that we were upset and argued, he told us we were wrong. Terrible. Terrible service, my pizza was soggy. Rabbit pasta ok but smaller portions than previous tines, not value for money. Wish I knew which restaurant the old chef moved to. Am gutted because Verdi’s is my local Italian, if the head waiter had been more understanding and taken the food off the bill I would be going back, but since he was an idiot about it I won’t go back. Shame because now they have lost a loyal customer. This place was an awesome local Italian, now it’s just a local Italian. Better places to spend your money if they cannot be bothered to look after you. Just a terrible shame. Go, if you want, maybe you will have a good time, just don’t order the crab tortelloni.
Hi Joanne, I thought when I came to your table that it was a comment/feedback since you just complain afterwards with empty plates. So I received the feedback and when you asked for your bill I obviously decided to let you pay for what you ate. When you received your bill and your Relative made a formal complain standing and shouting in front of me and customers of the place, I removed the two dishes from your final bill. Sincerely, Peppe Restaurant Manager
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant: all of our food selections (wine, appetizers, pasta, dessert, liqueur), the staff, the decor, its location near a tube stop. This Italian restaurant is authentic, operated by Italians, and boasts of its pastas which they make themselves. We particularly enjoyed our conversation with Verdi’s manager, Pepe, originally from Calabria, Italy, at the very bottom of the boot. He’s quite a young man, but even so, had 10 years of restaurant experience in the hectic Covent Garden area before assuming this position. The young man who was our server had only been there about two month, but was both attentive and knowledgeable—we were glad we took his pasta recommendation because none of the other selections could have been any more delicious than this. Although the location isn’t on everyone’s beaten path, with a tube stop on the District and Hammersmith Lines close-by, the dining experience will be well worth it.
Such a lovely Italian restaurant! This is my local and I try to go in once a week (if I can) me and my boyfriend have tried nearly everything on the menu and have always been over the moon with the quality of food. The staff are brilliant and the restaurant itself has a really nice feel to it! We love it here!!
Great food; friendly helpful service. Would return if we’re staying locally again.
Verdi's is an outstanding value in the East End. The decor lends itself to a comfortable and casual experience. It has a moderately sized dining and regulars reserved a few of the tables on a Thursday night. The food was just outstanding. Everything seemed to be fresh and homemade. The service was also outstanding. Our service was attentive, but not to the point of disturbing our party or wanting to rush up through our courses. High marks all around.
Amazing food as always! 😊
As our local restaurant, we love the changing menu, such friendly staff and improved music of Verdi’s! ( apart from the lunchtime 1960’s PetulaClark etc cd!!)
Good location for Genisis Cinema and Half Moon. Great food and a lovely setting with excellent staff. First time diner here and they were very friendly and helpful. Loved the fact I had booked a table for three and it was set for three!
Very nice place and food. We felt transported. Service was very good tol.
Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday this week, and we had a wonderful time. The restaurant is very easy to find, just a few doors down from Stepney Green station, and has a lovely relaxed feel to it, with tables sensibly spaced so you're not all crammed in together. The lighting is also very good, and the background music and general acoustics of the room made it easy to have good conversation.
We both very much enjoyed the rabbit for the main course, it was very tender and flavoursome. I also enjoyed the rice balls for starters and panna cotta for dessert, while my girlfriend enjoyed the fennel salad starter and 'pizza' Ferrero Rocher dessert. The portions aren't huge, but they're perfectly adequate and filling, and visually the food is presented well.
Dessert was particularly special because, following a passing comment I'd made about it being her birthday, my girlfriend's dessert arrived with a lit candle, and a few members of staff who sang Happy Birthday to her. It was very discreetly done, in a way that felt intimate and personal (rather than being loud for the entire restaurant to hear and join in with, as some places do). So it was a lovely gesture that felt very special. Indeed, the staff were very friendly and attentive all evening, without rushing us at any point. So my girlfriend came away very happy with my choice of venue, and we would definitely visit again.
Great food and even better service. The food is fresh, tasty and plentiful
Verdi's is a little gem. Excellent food and wonderful staff. So pleased that it was recommended to me and now is a regular favourite place to eat out.
We had an early dinner at Verdi's on a Saturday evening. The menu has many good and delicious options available. We enjoyed our food and our wine was excellent. The service was very good as well. I want to come here again to try the pizzas that looked very delicious as well.
Fantastic food and great service. Would recommend.
Delicious, authentic Italian cuisine with a great range of dishes and extensive pizza menu courtesy of a nice wood-fired clay oven. Service was excellent, and there was a nice buzz to the place without being too busy for a Friday night. All good value too, especially for the quality.
A beautiful local friendly Italian wonderful tasty food
Will be a regular on my list
Nice neighbourhood restaurant. Will go back :-)
Two of us eating and I chose badly for my main dish--a clam / pasta dish that was ok but watery. My friend had a wonderfully delicious rabbit pappardelle. WE shared a side dish of spinach with garlic and chilli that was intensely spinachy, perfectly cooked. Dessert of pannacotta with fruit compote was first rate. Lovely service and completely charming room.
Very nice evening. Good food, lovely atmosphere and excellent service. I've now been to Verdi's twice and will be coming again. I've seen other reviews of this restaurant that complain about their policy of 90 minute slots for tables on certain occasions. Where this is the case, the restaurant make it perfectly clear in advance. For my booking they even called me and re-scheduled so I could keep my table for longer.
Genuine Italian family restaurant that offers good home cooking style food. My colleague and I opted for the lunchtime special and both enjoyed the range of dishes that we had, especially at the very reasonable price on offer.
I had a great midweek dinner at Verdi's with two friends. Service was excellent. I arrived for dinner with a specific pizza in mind however it was no longer on the menu. Nevertheless our waiter told me that the pizza chef was happy to make it for me. Excellent customer service and a very relaxed setting made for an enjoyable meal I will happily repeat. Thank you to all the staff at Verdi's!
