Via Della Pace
Family owned, it's menu features many signature dishes such as "The Fettuccine Mama Munda," a recipe passed through generations to the restaurant's owner. Their original dishes are complimented by their freshly made Sangria and innovative cocktail list.
With the restaurant floor set three feet above street level, it's elegant floor to ceiling windows allow patrons to look out at one of New York's trendiest neighborhoods while enjoying their meal. Additional seating can be found in our cozy party room which provides patrons with a more personal dining experience or in our in extremely popular outdoor section that opens during the summer months.
Great experience at Via Della Pace. Food was excellent and service was on point. For a great neighborhood Italian meal this is the place to go.
Absolutely FANTASTIC food. Prices were extremely modest for an NYC restaurant. Decor was very understated and old school but not an issue. Small restaurant was very loud but again, not an issue. Even if it was, the food and price make this a must go to place!
Food was amazing! Was celebrating a birthday and everyone was very accommodating.
Mi hanno annullato una prenotazione un'ora prima della cena. Chiamato per sapere il motivo ma nessuno ha risposto. Veramente delusa da questa mancanza di attenzione verso un cliente. Un vero peccato perché il cibo è buono.
It felt like being in Italy! Energetic atmosphere, lovely service and authentic Italian food and the prices are amazing! All pastas delicious and the bruschetta was amazing! We will be back very soon!
Great food for a fantastic price in NYC. Tight space but expected for a neighborhood restaurant. Highly recommend.
Amazing food with an amazing ambience at a great price!!!
Ottima cucina proprietario simpaticissimo che dire andate e provate. Un ultima cosa tiramisù fantastico
We loved the atmosphere. It was energetic. I would not recommend if you wanted a quiet place to talk. Food was delicious and portions are on the smaller to just right size. The wait staff tended to our needs.
The only thing that prevented me from giving it a 5 was we forgot to order sides. Perhaps if the wait staff reminded us, the experience would have been more complete.
Amazing Italian (Lazio) restaurant in East Village. Great food, service & atmosphere whether inside or outside. Best tables upstairs or on terrace :-) I booked the resto. & my wife loved the resto. & the area. Delicious affogato.
Vero Good food and location.
Il locale è molto bello, il cibo ottimo.sembra di essere in Italia. Peccato che sia un po troppo lontano da Roma. Da consigliare assolutamente.
I've loved this place for its delicious, fresh Italian fare for years. On Friday I turned my family on to this little gem and they too loved it! Grazie VDP del cibo delizioso!
Great food. Nice cozy place. Service was so, so. Waiters were not interested in earning their tip, as a 20% is automatically added to your check, even though we were only 4 people in our table. CASH ONLY ACCEPTED!
Food was good and great service. The resturant has an excellent atmosphere and was a nice find. We would go back again.
The food was great but our server was not the friendliest.
The best authentic italian in east village.
We dined at Via Della pace with our ten-year old granddaughter before attending STOMP! It's right around the corner from the theatre. We can't say enough good things about VDP. The restaurant feels like it's been there a hundred years. The exterior feels like a blend of old New York and Old Florence. Set up from the street with the old wood and glass door, time ceilings brick walls, high ceilings, wood floors, eclectic lighting, it's an overall ambiance we won't forget. Service was excellent and personal. Our server offered to take a fam picture for us without us asking first. We were made to feel like regulars. The bruschetta and prosciutto e melone were over the top good. Wine offerings were authentic and well-priced. Seemed like the clientele was a mix of tourists like us and locals, maybe more balanced toward locals. If we lived in NY, VDP would be a regular stop for us.
The pasta tested worse than store bought. Everything was too salty as well. I looked forward to trying this place but was really disappointed.
overall very friendly staff, despite one or two early issues. Lobster ravioli exceptional, fellow diners food was good. Very well priced for New York!!!
Our waiter did not pay any attention to our table. Never came over after the food was delivered. Had to go up to the bar to get a refill on a drink. Had to work hard to flag a bus boy to get the check. Cash only - gave cash and took another 10 minutes to get change back. This could be understandable if the place / our waiter was busy, but there were maybe 4 other parties total (with at least two waiters) and we could see the waiter standing around with other employees hanging out, eating and laughing. Food was good but this service completely ruined the experience.
Lovely Italian trattoria. The ambiance was very much like a trattoria in Rome. Staff was very helpful. Food was excellent. We tried a number of their dishes and everyone was happy with their meal.
One of my favorite places! Consistently delicious, excellent sangria, friendly.
Always delicious and authentic food.
Walked in and it was 80+ degrees. Left before eating.
Good food, authentic, good value. The cash only is a bit annoying but worth it.
Very nice place, very friendly, fantastic italian food!
Too noisy and the food was over-priced for what we had. Pasta was underdone and too chewy; the bruschettas were too bready and, in general, the food was not very refined.
Real Italian food, dishes follow the original recipes, good quality of the ingredients, nice atmosphere, grazie per avermi fatto sentire in Italia
Small and cozy. Good food and reasonable. Worth a visit
Food was great, but service was really uneven...
We were disappointed w/ the lack of freshness and quality of the food we ordered. We lucked out getting a table by the door or we would’ve been too warm and cramped. We had to yell at each other because was super noisy—not patrons, but staff/dishes. When bill came, it included charges for obscure items that we didn’t order to the tune of +$25, and no apology from waiter. My friend asked for cheese on her pasta and was charged addtl $3! With all the other options in area, sorry we heeded Trip Advisor’s high rating.
Cash only! That is the most important thing you need to know. The food was reasonably priced and outstanding. They were even able to accomodate my gluten free self with salmon risotto which was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
As always, the food blows me away
Good food at good prices. Pasta was great. Service was ok. At first they brought out a corked wine at first that tasted quite vinegary. They quickly replaced it after we complained. Very loud.
Amazing food !!! Will recommend 100% ! Only cash though
Love the food and wish I’d had more cash to enjoy more! I really wish they would jump into 2019 and take credit cards! Yes, it costs more, but they could increase the entree prices by 5% to make up some of the costs, and guests would buy more!!
Really good food, especially the pasta. Service is good as well. Cash only!
Love this restaurant - always have family visiting from Italy and all my guests always feel at home at this authentic Italian East Village gem! My sister and brother in law just moved to NY from Italy and I took them to Via Della Pace where they were so happy to be welcomed by an Italian-speaking staff who treated us wonderfully. The food was delicious and the service was great! We will be back this coming weekend!
We loved our night out. They even accommodated us 45 minutes early! Thank you!
