Our doors are (almost) always open, so pop in for an impromptu supper in Our Yard, a pint with a four legged friend or to celebrate a special occasion in our first floor dining room.
The Victoria Stakes – London’s local
Sunday lunch was fantastic, great atmosphere, very family. Good food and outstanding service.
The Sunday roast was perfect in portion size.
The desserts were divine
Great venue. Great food. Great service
The Victoria Stakes is becoming a regular place to enjoy Sunday lunch with friends and family living locally and elsewhere.
The food is absolutely delicious, the service impeccable and whilst it is not cheap, it is worth every penny.
See you again soon!
We brought our carnivore daughter out for steak as our pescatarian daughter was at a sleepover. Cote de boeuf was perfectly cooked, gorgeous potatoes dauphinois & peppercorn sauce. I had the salmon tartare starter, light but tasty. Husband enjoyed the pate. Carnivore daughter loved the cote and ordered a second round of skinny fries they were so good!
Very enjoyable evening. The food, as always, was very good. Wines too! Not crowded, so great for a group get together.
Lovely Sunday roast and great service. There was a few tables which ordered at the same time and the waiter explained the starters would take longer and offered us a complimentary drink.
Atmosphere was family friendly for the 6 nations. And the Sunday lunch was superb. 2 of our orders were misplaced but we were offered full refunds for those orders whilst also still receiving new one so no harm no foul.
Family Sunday dinner, our grandson was with us and the young man waiting our table was great with him. Food was exceptional as usual. My Vegan daughter in-law was very happy with her food.
It’s always a pleasure to spend an evening here
I'm just obsessed. Wouldn't be Sunday without a Vicky Stakes!!!
We had a lovely family meal there, the food was delicious, atmosphere was great. We were sitting upstairs so it's more quiet then the downstairs pub section.
A lovely pub and food delicious. The service was good but it was extremely busy that night and noise level was high. But we expected that around Christmas! !
The food was delicious, the service was not...We arrived 15 minutes early and we were told our table was ready but no one would serve us until our allotted time - Odd but OK, so we sat at the table and went to the bar to order our own drinks. Then we were told there was a large Christmas party arriving and could we order quickly (we were a group of 7, the week before Christmas - if we weren't a Christmas Party too I'm not sure what you'd call us!). So we then ordered. Soup came without bread, so some was ordered on the side, this didn't appear . We asked and then received what appeared to be two slices of OK ish brown bread torn in half (for 2 people having soup). 6 of 7 mains arrived, after people were half way through, one of us had to stand up, go to the Manager and ask what was happening? To be told, oh it'll be with you in a minute or two - no apology . We decided not to have puddings and asked for 4 glasses of wine, we watched the bar man pour them, we watched them on the bar, we watched the Manager having a chat to the bar man with our drinks in-front of them. Eventually one of us got up and went to collect them, whereupon the Manger (standing directly beside the tray) turned to the waiter beside her and said you should have taken those over. Surely she should have noticed this without us having to help ourselves. Our sizeable bill arrived, much to the disgust of some at the table, nothing had been deducted from our bill. We decided not to make a complaint, although we aired our thoughts, very pleasantly , to our very nice waitress (she had too many tables to serve) and said we would write a review. Nice place, Nice atmosphere, food good when it turns up. But wow the service, and attitude .....So sadly won't return, and would pass on my comments to others. Sad could have been sooooo much better. If we hear the service has improved we may pop back !
The Sunday lunch at Victoria Stakes is consistently great. The food and service never disappoint
Excellent choice of food, of well-executed dishes and efficient and unassuming service, great choice of beers - impressed.
We took my mum here for her birthday and had Sunday lunch. Three of us are vegetarian and really enjoyed the vegetarian Sunday Lunch option. The veg was cooked perfectly and tasted flavourful. Very pleasant waiting staff and they kindly brought my mum’s desert out with candles in, which made it extra special.
Great neighbourhood pub, used to frequent when I lived locally a few years back. These days I'm only there for pre and post Alexander Palace gigs, for which it is perfect!
Food really excellent. Just lovely staff and a real pride in what they do. Fantastic room upstairs too - we hired for our wedding party. They were flexible and really went the extra mile. No hidden costs.
Sunday lunch is fabulous and the side of cauliflower cheese is not for the faint hearted - amazing and a portion between 2 still defeated us - a must order
Had a very tasty lunch at the weekend with our 2 children. It was quite pricey - but you get what you pay for!
Amazing Sunday roast, will definitely go again!
My favourite roast in London! The sticky toffee pudding is to die for.
Really good quality Sunday roast. The beef was very tender and perfectly cooked. Very good sized portions. Friendly staff.
Great place for a friends get together. Very accommodating of buggies and boisterous children! Good food menu and wine selection. Will definitely come back for more!
Excellent food, service was great all in all very good gastro pub.
Had a really nice lazy Saturday lunch with family and friends. Everyone thought the food was great. Service was very friendly and attentive to a greater-than-normal number of special requests. A little relaxed in pace, so maybe not ideal if you are in a rush.
Amazing food and would make the journey to London again just to eat here
We had a lovely dinner here, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Lovely service, great food and wine and cocktails (including one not on the list). Will definitely be back for more!
I have been a patron of Victoria Stakes for over 3 years and have always praised them highly but there have been a few changes recently that have made me rethink. There has been a price increase for the Sunday lunch menu and the food is not quite the quality and taste that it was, there are many good pubs/restuarants in the area providing better standards at cheaper prices.
Good food all round. Service generally friendly and efficient. We were seated upstairs alongside two large and noisy groups. Asked to be moved to ground floor but were told that there was no space. One group soon left but their noise and disruption was replaced by the noise and disruption as the staff set up for an event stating at 10pm. We had stayed at 7.45 and left at 9.20, so we hadn’t outstayed our welcome or taken overlong eating our meal. We would have had another drink and a coffee but decided it would not have been enjoyable. As a group of four, we should either have been seated downstairs or have been warned about the large groups and impending event set up.
An enjoyable place to visit to drink or dine. The yard is especially fun if you like industrial style surroundings
Staff not friendly aside from one female server. Food was nice but the setting could do with some work.
Staff great. Food pretty average in all honesty, albeit Sunday roasts are fairly generic.
Wonderful food, service warm and friendly. Will go again
Really good Sunday lunch. Great menu and the food was a very high quality. The gravy was fantastic, so rich! Will definitely go back.
The service was very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent, they were clear on any dietary requirements
We were sat outside and there were lots of flies we were eating which wasn’t pleasant.
There was a few errors on the menu meaning that people had to change their orders.
We had to chase the wine to brought to the table when the food arrived.
We had a superb Sunday lunch at the Victoria Stakes - the food was faultless, and the Bloody Mary lived up to being sold as the best in London. The waiting staff were lovely, just a little slow (we had to request menus/ chase water etc). Certainly the best roast dinner and venue in the area.
We had a great time , Food excellent we definitely coming back ! Service was great , staff very friendly and helpful .
