"The Vivat Bacchus restaurants, established in Farringdon in 2003 and London Bridge in 2008, are a celebration of rustic, robust food, artisan cheeses and great wines. South African in origin, we are known for the range and quality of our wines, our memorably stocked cheese rooms and a menu using daily sourced, quality seasonal ingredients from highly regarded producers. We feature rare breed meats, grilled to perfection. The decor, slightly industrial with open ceilings, exposed pipes and ducts creates the feeling of being in a working winery and an unpretentious, no nonsense atmosphere. Fans whirring in cheese rooms and wine cellars stocked to the brim leaves one with no doubt where the focus of the business lies."

I have visited this restaurant 3 times in the last 6 months and really enjoyed it. My favourite dish on the menu is the roasted trout and a VB warm salad. I ordered this time the salad as usual and the beef carpaccio. It wasn't a regular carpaccio but smoked meat, thinner sliced and smaller piece, I liked the truffle touch too. The cheesecake was a bit too dry for my test but the sweetness was perfect. I would definitely recommend to make it creamier and also add more fruit.

Lovely restaurant near London Bridge. The menu is limited but what they have on offer is very tasty and beautifully presented. I had my two daughters with me age 11 and 14 and they enjoyed the burger and lovely thick chips. I had the sea bass which was lovely and my husband enjoyed the mushroom risotto.

I had the sticky toffee pudding which I have to say was the best I have ever tasted!

It was my husband's 50th and the staff brought out a dessert for him with a candle to celebrate. They could tell he was the sort that doesn't like a big fuss so were very discreet and didn't bang any pans and start screaming out Happy Birthday which he thought was lovely!

Thank you for making our meal so enjoyable.

Really delicious food and good service. I had seabass fillet which was cooked perfectly and came with really tasty crispy artichokes and lemon broccoli. The burger was also great as was the mushroom risotto. Absolutely will come back

I always love going to Vivat at London Bridge. The staff are amazing and remember you, making you feel like it’s your local near home rather than somewhere in town.

Food is always tasty and not excessively priced.

Good food - mains and cheese definitely the strong point. The only challenge I have at this restaurant can be the noise - it can define quite loud as it fills up, making it harder to hear others around the table.

This restaurant is located next door to Hays Galleria and just across the road from London Bridge Station . Offering a wine bar style menu with a wine list made up of an interesting selection of South African wines, this delivers good value and good service with few frills. It apparently specialises in cheeses but we did not test that offering.

First time to the LB Vivat Bacchus though have visited the Farringdon one 3-4 times. Really friendly service from the start - even a spontaneous weather report so we could decide if to sit outside or not! His "30% chance of precipitation" prediction was bang on - we sat inside! Wagyu beef carpaccio really good and spot-on in terms of portion size (not stingy, not too large) and the confit of duck also excellent. Just enough wines by the glass and fizz comes in proper 175ml sizes and not the 125 mls so many places do (gone in 3 gulps!) Looking forward to returning.

A quiet lunch in the outdoor terrace area on this occasion was very pleasant. One sea bream and one mushroom risotto were much enjoyed and followed by scoops of ice cream including chocolate, salted caramel and vanilla (If you are not very hungry you can buy just one scoop). Service was attentive. Disappointed that previously accrued loyalty points are not now honoured -confused explanation. OK the points were free originally but felt cheated nevertheless when introducing a new customer on this occasion. Will return anyway.

Visited the Farringdon branch a few times in the past and was staying near this one so gave it a try. It’s situated out of the way behind an office building in Hay’s Wharf and not easy to find. A small decking area opposite the restaurant is ‘outdoors’. Well worth the effort. A South African theme, with very good wines to match. Food was way above average and the risotto was spectacular. Service friendly and unobtrusive. Well worth the effort. The famous cheese room was closed because they can’t afford to lose the stock if the government blunders into another period of restrictions. Hardly their fault.

Lovely staff, great food and a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday. Made even more special by a complimentary glass of pink prosecco and happy birthday stencilled in chocolate on my dessert. Very thoughtful.

Had an amazing meal here, a mix of biltong starters and wagyu beef carpaccio then a shared steak for mains. There's an excellent wine list, every bite and slurp was excellent! The waiters did a great job, especially with the COVID restrictions. We felt well looked after and they had good personality. It was a little disappointing (but totally understandable) that the cheese room was closed. We'll go back to experience that for sure!

We had a lovely dinner for a friends get-together. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable, with the staff being friendly and knowledgeble. Even though the cheese room was unavailable due to COVID-19 regulations, we managed to sample some a delicious cheese platter that the staff recommended. Everything was lovely and incredibly affordable with all the discounts applied. We definitely recommend visiting Vivat Bacchus and we plan on returning soon! Thank you for a great experience.

I love Vivat Bacchus. Just the right blend of lively (but not “you cannot hear yourself” noisy) and friendly (but not over-attentive). We had the cheese platter and a couple of glasses of wine. Great relaxed venue, close to the train station. Recommend.

Food was nice. Not exceptional, but nice. Wine was good, but the waiter kept pouring the bottle lifting the bottom to the ceiling. Two glasses full of dregs for me. I complained to him the second time and he wasn’t fussed.

Bathrooms are a total state. Filthy.

On a Monday evening Vivat was pleasantly busy and was a good venue for a birthday celebration meal. Decent menu underpinned by an extensive wine list with a good price range. The cheese cave was fantastic with a tasting guide to help you through a world of cheese.
