Vivat Bacchus London Bridge
Three of us old friends have birthdays all around the same time, so we meet up for lunch to celebrate and this year it was at Vivat Bacchus. Our booking was for 12.30 and my friend, who arrived first, was offered a table outside, but as it was such a warm day we stayed inside and had the benefit of aircon - lovely. We selected from the a la carte, and had one starter (scallops, which my friend said were delicious), two open chicken sandwiches with chips and one mushroom risotto (we all cleared our plates) followed by Malva sponge pudding (very light) and ice-cream, a creme brulee and an ice-cream. The house sparkling wine had £10 off, so we had that after our G&Ts. With service, the bill was £42 each - which is about average when we three go out.
To mark our birthdays, our pudding plates had 'happy birthday' piped round the rim in chocolate, and we were presented with a decorated slate and three lit birthday candles in dried fig holders which was a lovely touch.
The service from the polite and cheerful waiters was excellent, and I have no doubt that we shall return.
We had a great lunch time visit. Services was second to none. Staff were helpful with advice on all the food and drink. We both had the Rib eye and it was superb.
Fantastic cheese room!
Service was not quite as attentive / on the ball as usual, but food was still good.
Noisey but food good. Service fairly attentive and wine list interesting with some classics if that’s what you’re after
The service is very good at this London Bridge branch. The cheese room really did provide a lovely High light to our meal. I loved the truffle oil. Food was pretty good, I particularly liked I was able to cater for my daughter who is .....wait for it ..... a vegetarian! Champagne choice pretty good. We were a little underwhelmed with the venue itself - it does not have a wow feeling. However, we felt this made a refreshing difference to the over stated grandeur of the restaurants in the Shard. We would go again.
I had a nice dinner with 2 friends at Vivat Bacchus. We decided to order the big steak for 3 people, which was ok but thought there was too much fat with the meat. However the boys seemed to like it. Otherwise I like the restaurant - have been several times and the ambience and service are always great.
Tasty food to suit the preferences and dietary needs of all our group, friendly service and good value!
We had a very lovely evening at Vivat Bacchus and we have already started sharing our experience with our friends. The place is really nice, the staff is pleasant, friendly and helpful. The food is excellent specially the Côte de bœuf. Was also pleasantly surprised by an amazing South African red wine! Brilliant night.
Our guests really enjoyed the meal, the highlight was the cheeseboard and visit to the Cheese Room.
The Ribeye was well cooked and good quality. Vivat Bacchus has an exceptional wine menu with a wide variety to suit every palate.
Excellent service ; the person who waited at our table was excellent - went out of his way to help with wine selection.
Fabulous steaks and even a lovely Slimmers steak to keep me on track for my diet. Lovely evening with friendly waiters.
Delicious platters of cheese and meats, with excellent and friendly service. A little pricey but great place to catch up with friend/s.
A great wine bar/restaurant with an amazing wine list. Good service and ambience. I will be back for sure.
Good food and good ambiance. Thank you
Great venue and good value. Excellent food
I was in London for a family vacation and needed a place to take a large group that included teenagers. Vivat Bacchus was an excellent choice for our family. The menu provided lots of options and reasonable prices. I usually avoid steak while in London but not here- it was excellent. The cheese and wine options were a big hit too. Service was attentive and friendly. I will definitely go back!
Outstanding both food and service highly recommend :)
Good food, excellent service and a £10 off Champagne promo.
Nothing outstanding but good.
A great spot for a business lunch or after work meal. Staff are friendly and attentive. Steak is great!
Delicious food and wine, especially the sharing starter platters. Service was somewhat slow, which led us to cancel the desert course, but this was well handled by the staff, who offered complimentary drinks.
The restaurant was fine but Open Table have accused me of a 'no show' when in fact I had telephoned the restaurant to change the booking from the Friday to the Thursday; they must have forgotten to update Open Table. Please amend your profile of me as I do not want to, get a bad reputation in the catering trade!
I do love the food at Vivat Bacchus - perfect for meat lovers and with and interesting twist. They also got some fantastic cheese to finish off the night with. The staff is great and helpful and the atmosphere really nice. The only thing that doesn't work very well is their loyalty program. Signed up a month before this visit but they couldn't find me in the system. Promised me that they would sort my points out afterwards but had to write to them a few times to get that sorted. Also not clear how you check up on your points and how you spend them. The link to the loyalty program on the web-site is not working.
Good food, good service.
This is my second visit n travelled from Birmingham .. lovely evening n cheese cellar fabulous.. will return.
This is the second time we’ve been and sat downstairs this time. As good if not better than last time, food fabulous, atmosphere perfect and the service was outstanding! Now a firm favourite in our family!
A good restaurant, nice selection of food and quick service.
This place never disappoints! Cheese room experience always amazing! The host was great introducing me to new cheese even though my true love was with the Lancaster Bomb. Thank you for continued service!
The steak was really good and the peppercorn sauce was a perfect combination. I would definitely come back again
Had an hour to have a pre theatre dinner. Could not have chosen better round the corner from London Bridge station- everything from decor, service and food was excellent. Will definitely go back and stay for longer
Good ambience, busy and bustling, good food, but on the expensive side and not big portion sizes especially the starters, great wine list and help choosing a wine
Good meal and location.
Love this restaurant..lovely friendly staff and beautifully cooked steak!! I lost count how many time I've visit this place!! Highly recommended!
Always a good night here. Service was pleasant and very efficient. Some great jazz playing but it was buzzing with chatter so couldn’t hear it that well. Varied and, sometimes, unusual menu. Great wine and cheese options. Have been on and off for many years - will make an effort to go more often. Practically on top of London Bridge station and a minute from the Thames. Very convenient location.
Menu molto vario, con influenze da tutto il mondo. Locale carino (abbiamo trovato anche musica dal vivo), buon servizio.
My wife and I have walked past Vivat Bacchus many time but never previously tried it. It is now one of our firm favourites. The food and wine were very good and the service was excellent.
Tightly packed in, took a long time to take our order and food took a long time to arrive.
Food was average for the high price.
Love love love this place! My favourite restaurant, always for for the cheese room! Service is flawless! Love it!
Food was interesting, we had Kangaroo which was excellent. A nice buzzy vibe and highly knowledgable sommelier. But best of all was the cheese room which was divine. Can’t understand why no one else has done this, a great experience and will be back
