Vivat Bacchus Farringdon
The decor, slightly industrial with open ceilings, exposed pipes and ducts creates the feeling of being in a working winery and an unpretentious, no nonsense atmosphere. Fans whirring in cheese rooms and wine cellars stocked to the brim leaves one with no doubt where the focus of the business lies."
Charcuterie & Cheese Board
Prosciutto di San Daniele & Gorgonzola Piccante Saucisson rosette & Brie de Meaux. Teruel lomo & Manchego. Onion Marmalade, honey and nuts, fresh fruit & crackers
Braised British Lamb Shank
Pinot Noir braised lamb shank, chantenay carrots, pearl onions, mashed potato
Great good and service. Ambiance was spoiled somewhat by the restaurant being so empty.
Really friendly staff and food was absolutely perfect
a superb meal, and an all round excellent experience. If you haven't been, well worth a go, and if you are familiar then great to be back again!
I love this place. The food is great and they are now making their own cured meats. You have to have the cheeseboards if you go here - they are amazing. great service, always friendly.
Amazing service great quality food
Couldn't order food during lunch unfortunately
Excellent food, served quickly. Really well spaced, for COVID compliance, and a great place to meet.
I booked for 2:30, and arrived at 2:15. Was told I didn't have a booking, when I produced my booking confirmation I was told the kitchen had closed and I could only have bar food and snacks.
It was great to be back at one of our favourite restaurants.
Really sad to see if it so empty after lockdown relaxations and hope business picks up soon.
They deserve to continue to be as successful as they always were.
Our visit to the cheese room was great fun and very tasty!
Terrible smell of cigarette smoke as you enter the restaurant , makes you want to leave. Dessert offering was poor and the sherry was way too sweet, it should have put under the dessert wines .
Another great visit to Vivat Bacchus in Farringdon.
It's been some years since I ate here (even though it's only a 15 minute walk from the office!) and really pleasantly surprised by everything. The cheese room is such a fabulous idea - didn't do that this time but def returning to try it. Fishcake and Sea Bream both excellent, the rose harissa with the bread selection appetiser was gorgeous. Triple cooked truffled chips were as good as they sound. Really good range of wines by the glass. All in all very happy with lunch for 2 inc. 2 glasses of wine for £75 including service. Coming back will need little excuse.
Excellent as usual. Service good even though the restaurant was packed
I love the atmosphere at Vivat Bacchus and the uncomplicated menu concentrates on quality, which is at the heart of the philosophy behind this place. It never fails to impress.
service is brilliant -top notch yet light hearted and friendly.
£27 for cheapest white is a bit pricey
As always, the attraction here was the Cheese Room.
This time, though, we tried the South African charcuterie, which was very tasty, and I had a lovely steak which was cooked just right.
Service inattentive - no one around most of the time to catch their eye.
Good starters but mains not up to the standards they once were there.
Wine list was short but very good and reasonable value
Sat for 25 mins without any waiting staff showing any interest at all. Walked out and lady at front desk didn’t seem to care. There were other problems but that is enough to make sure we never return.
As always, the food, wine and cheese were excellent. The cheese room is always a great experience, especially for those who have not been before
Great value, delicious food. Tastiest steak in a long time. Shame it wasn’t very busy
Excellent steak wine and cheese.
A good lunch here: open face grilled chicken sandwich, trice-cooked chips, and a side salad. Sadly I could drink no wine.
Reliably good food, great wine list and service was spot on.
Great date night. Steaks were spot on. Very good wine list too. Atmosphere was ok, lights a bit bright.
Staff could be a lot more attentive, had to go to the bar to order dessert. At times it felt like we were an inconvenience despite booking for 8pm on a Saturday night. No manager presence which perhaps didn’t help.
Overall good place, just needs to work on service.
LOVELY FOOD AND CHARMING SERVICE. THEY ALWAYS LET US HAVE ONE OF THE QUIET TABLES WE LIKE BEST - AWAY FROM THE NOISY BUSINESS DRINKERS. FOOD IS GREAT - WHOEVER SUPPLIES THEIR BEEF IS A PROPER, QUALITY SOURCE. SERVICE GOOD, ALTHOUGH I GET THE IMPRESSION THAT SOME OF THE WAITING STAFF DON'T UNDERSTAND MUCH ENGLISH. THE ONLY DOWN-SIDE FOR US IS THE LIMITED AMOUNT OF NON-SOUTH-AFRICAN WINES ON THE LIST. BY THE GLASS THEY SHOULD OFFER A BIT MORE CHOICE.
Great food, attentive service (without being overbearing) and lovely atmosphere.
Good food and service, always good for a business lunch
On vacation in London. Restaurant had excellent reviews on open table..,, it definitely lived up to its review. My husband had their steak and I had a fantastic seafood pasta.... I highly recommend it.... and on top of it all their “choose your own cheese desert was again, a hit. Our waiter (and I do not have his name, but he had very long hair in a pony tail) was so very friendly and helpful and even gave us some sites to see in the city, made our meal even better ..., THANK YOU!!!!!
Very average experience and misleading that sauces are free, they’re £3 each. Don’t recommend
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and found the service to be friendly and efficient. We were given a table in a quieter area of the restaurant and I was able to do some work after the meal, before going to my next appointment.
A truly pleasant experience. Saturday early evening, not too busy, and the most charming and attentive waiter imaginable. He made the experience memorable, the food was pretty quick as we had to go to a concert, and the loos were fabulous...
The food was and service was great but the ambiance was a little lacking - I prefer the London Bridge branch. Probably more suited to business lunches or post work drinks/meals rather than anything more special
Excellent for a lunchtime meeting, although it can be a bit noisy unless next to the windows. Service very friendly and professional. Food very good quality. Wine selection superb
Really nice waiter, great food and wine!
Everything was great bit the service was slow and our waitress seemed a bit lost. She dropped off the dessert menu and never came back...25 minutes later we asked the manager for our bill, paid and left.
Not the first time in this restaurant and with the same friend. We particularly like the cheese room where you can select a number of cheeses to have. We chose an excellent (Cabernet) wine with the cheese too. We will certainly be back at some point.
Amazing steak, chips and salad. I need to go back.
Nice restaurant. Some of the staff could have been friendlier. Our waiter was great though
Restaurant was local to our Hotel. Booked through Open Table and no issue with that.
Menu was good and the food we had was really nice. Staff were helpful and very attentive witth refilling my Wine Glass
Great sweet which I loved
Overall very good and well worth a visit
