"The Vivat Bacchus restaurants, established in Farringdon in 2003 and London Bridge in 2008, are a celebration of rustic, robust food, artisan cheeses and great wines. South African in origin, we are known for the range and quality of our wines, our memorably stocked cheese rooms and a menu using daily sourced, quality seasonal ingredients from highly regarded producers. We feature rare breed meats, grilled to perfection.

The decor, slightly industrial with open ceilings, exposed pipes and ducts creates the feeling of being in a working winery and an unpretentious, no nonsense atmosphere. Fans whirring in cheese rooms and wine cellars stocked to the brim leaves one with no doubt where the focus of the business lies."

Very average experience and misleading that sauces are free, they’re £3 each. Don’t recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and found the service to be friendly and efficient. We were given a table in a quieter area of the restaurant and I was able to do some work after the meal, before going to my next appointment.

A truly pleasant experience. Saturday early evening, not too busy, and the most charming and attentive waiter imaginable. He made the experience memorable, the food was pretty quick as we had to go to a concert, and the loos were fabulous...

The food was and service was great but the ambiance was a little lacking - I prefer the London Bridge branch. Probably more suited to business lunches or post work drinks/meals rather than anything more special

Everything was great bit the service was slow and our waitress seemed a bit lost. She dropped off the dessert menu and never came back...25 minutes later we asked the manager for our bill, paid and left.

Not the first time in this restaurant and with the same friend. We particularly like the cheese room where you can select a number of cheeses to have. We chose an excellent (Cabernet) wine with the cheese too. We will certainly be back at some point.

Had a really nice evening at Vivat Bacchus Farringdon with a good friend of mine. The steaks were lovely and cooked to perfection and compared to other steak restaurants in London - I think they are really good value for money as well. The service was nice and attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. Cannot fail the cheese board for dessert either - very nice selection.

Food was very tasty here but service a bit OTT for the vibe - and I didn’t like my plates being cleared whilst by colleague was finishing so she ended up rushing. There was a fairly blatant upwelling approach which felt pointed due to low number of guests.

We had a great meal and were left to talk. The bar music got a little intrusive at times but I understand that its a balance.

The cheese fridge was great!

We had a good dining experience with tasty starters of belly of pork and prawns. Our mains were salmon and sirloin and they were both very good. Wine choice was massive and service was attentive. Would definitely go there again.

Very good food; we had cote de beouf for 3 with some nice veggie sides; decent wine list, lots of S. African wines that are nice. Service was okay but it's noisy and crowded and sometimes hard to get their attention. Best part may have been the cheese room in the back. excellent!

Wasn't that hungry so went straight for the mains. My wife had mushroom risotto i went for the sea bass. The food came very quickly (under 10 minutres) but thats probably because the restaurant was empty. Guessing the risotto was pre-made as you can't make it this quickly. I tasted the risotto it was nice enough but i've made better at home. The sea bass was a real disappointment though. Despite being well presented the flavours didnt go and the sea bass didnt taste all that fresh-i think it was over-cooked by a couple of minutes giving a more meaty and chewy texture. and it had no flavour. I make sea-bass quite regularly so i know how sensitive it can be in the oven if overcooked but again i can make better at home.
