For decades we've been using the freshest and finest of ingredients from right on our own doorstep.
From fruit, herbs and vegetables from our kitchen garden to locally-landed fish from the day boats of Deal to wild game from the woodlands of the Stour Valley.
Yes, we've been awarded accolades for our cooking, but we don't do what we do for that, it's for the love of producing delicious food from great raw ingredients that are predominantly native to Kent.
The food in the restaurant was lovely: well cooked, innovative and the staff all new of one of our allergies to eggs. we stayed in the hotel and ate in the restaurant for the two nights that we stayed in the hotel.
To sum up our experience in the restaurant: we were very happy to eat there on both evenings we were staying at the hotel. We will return.
We had a Christmas Eve dinner at wallets Court. We were personally greeted by the owners and had a couple of glasses of complimentary champagne which we were not expecting!!
The food and service were exceptionally outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.
A lovely afternoon tea for two to celebrate a friends birthday. Staff polite and attentive, food was very nice and the buildings are beautiful. Will definitely be visiting again soon!
Choice of 5 dishes per course: all looked inviting. We had amazing saffron and plaice risotto and red onion and Brie tart to start, followed by beef for one and venison for the main course - both very tender, finishing with quince and cobnut tart with pear ice cream and the Marathon, which was rich chocolate ganache with peanut crumble and peanut ice cream: all delicious. There are stunning carvings and frescos in the hallways and corridors, and visible remnants of an early 15th Century Wealden Hall house hidden by a Jacobean restoration.
The blown light bulb over our table was noticed and promptly replaced.
Very good service apart from one of our drinks was a little slow in arriving.
Booked table for 8.15pm was eventually shown to table at 9pm. The three courses then took over two hours to be served. The quality of the food was good.
Their web site needs to be updated as the menu that you can download is out of date and the price has increased.
Having eaten here some time ago, very disappointed with the service Table booked for 8 and shown to table and then seemed to have been forgotten. Finally finished eating at 11 and not eating in the main restaurant but in the conservatory which was chilly and appeared to have had its curtains stolen (poles and hooks but no curtains)
I visited Walletts Court as a special treat for my friends birthday and it was a treat indeed. Staff were very attentive and the selection of sandwiches and cakes were delicious. Beautiful hotel too.
It made an ideal venue for our wedding anniversary meal. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and it was very pleasant to sit in the lounge on a warm summer evening choosing from the menu over our pre dinner drinks. We did not feel rushed at all. The food was delicious especially the lamb which was extremely tender. We felt that the portions could have been a little bigger
Another lovely lunch with friends at Wallett's Court. It was Monday so rather quiet but food was excellent and represents superb value for money especially compared to London prices.
Excellent food and service, made to feel very welcome in lovely surroundings. Had no hesitation in provisionally booking an 'event' for 2016. Particular thanks to Nick
Would recommed this place, nice location, very good food and good service
We booked Wallett's Court for our anniversary dinner as a very special occasion. Everything was perfect. We were met at the door, welcomed into the lounge for a pre-dinner drink where we could peruse the menu in a very relaxed manner. With our food ordered and us left to enjoy our drinks we could enjoy the setting. Once at our table our food journey commenced. Service was great, food was great, timing was great. Definitely an evening to remember.
We had an outstanding meal, we visit here often and the food has always been amazing. Great choice and so tasty. Staff are all very friendly and helpful.
We booked for our 35th anniversary at Wallet's Court and asked for the tasting menu in the "special request" box. However, when we arrived, it appeared that no communcation had occurred between opentable and the venue and they expected the tasting menu to be ordered in advance.
At this point, not only did they concoct us a tasting menu on the spot, but also gave us the celebratory champagne, which we were already halfway through, as complimentary.
The dinner was superb - definitely on a par with London restaurants which are much more expensive, and we had a very special evening. Opentable - please pass on requests to your restaurants and well done Walletts Court!
Friends visiting us at St Margaret's was a good excuse to have lunch at Wallett's Ct which we've been eyeing up since moving here 6 months ago. Not surprisingly it was very quiet on a Monday lunchtime with only one other table filled but the dining room is in an ancient, oak beamed manor house which was very pleasant.
We had the 3 courses for £19.50 which was excellent value for the standard of fare we received. We had duck or mullet starters which were both very good. The Kentish rump steak main course was very tender and absolutely delicious. Dessert also superb - I had cherry clafoutis , and the others had the chocolate delice or lemon posset. everyone was very happy and we look forward to a forthcoming special occasion to go for the tasting menu!
Simply fabulous from start to finish. Service was relaxed but very friendly and efficient. We went for Sunday Lunch and Roast Beef and Pork Belly were both delicious. The Sea Bream was perfectly cooked and well presented.
The ballotine of sea trout was a highlight from the starter menu, with a delicious cheese souffle and an asparagus, ham and egg dish were also lovely.
Puddings? Melting chocolate fondant, lemon posset and a wonderful pistachio cake rounded off a perfect afternoon.
My wife and I visited Wallett's Court on Easter Sunday and had the set menu. Each course was very good. Whilst at first it appeared the roast beef was overdone it was succulent and packed full of flavour.
iIwould certainly like to go back and maybe make a day of it as Walletts court also has a spa.
Overall a very nice Easter
Food was excellent, even the bread was special. Prices were very reasonable and the service friendly, relaxed and efficient.
Was so impressed we ended up staying over night has well has having an excellent evening meal, very connivance for the coast and ferry port.
Starters and deserts were lovely. Main courses were disappointing. We do better at home. Hard veg (I know it's trendy!) but lamb was poor, chicken dish was very small. Nice old building and staff were very pleasant. Ambience in conservatory nothing special given historic nature of the building. Nice bar area though and I can imagine it would all be lovely in the summer
