Wherever you decide to sit in our hotel bistro restaurant you’ll have a spectacular view of the sandy beach, rolling surf, rugged North Devon coastline and Lundy Island. It’s west facing too, which means you can enjoy glorious sunsets over dinner.
We serve well cooked, classical English dishes with a few modern European influences thrown in for good measure. With the sea on one side and North Devon countryside on the other, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to high quality local ingredients. Our venison and lamb comes from Exmoor and our fish comes in fresh from Brixham.
fantastic view as soon as you pull in the car park. Covid secure and well managed from start to finish of our lunch visit. Service and food both excellent, there were four in our party, and we all enjoyed our food. Both waiters were polite and friendly, and could not do enough.
If in the are again, will be the first on the list to visit for a meal.
The food was excellent and the service was second to none. Only wished we had booked for other nights whilst we stayed in Devon.
Would definitely recommend
wow what great food and the views are too die for.
From start to finish the service was excellent and the food was well worth the wait. Did not feel rushed and the atmosphere was relaxing. This is fine dining at its best.
View food and service were all excellent. Wish we could go again while we are on holiday but unfortunately it is fully booked.
Beautiful food, excellent service. We have eaten here many times before whilst on holiday, so we were delighted to be able to book again despite the COVID pandemic.
We will definitely be booking again when we holiday in North Devon again.
Very COVID-organised, it was good to feel safe. View was amazing, could have done with a cocktail though To take the experience up a notch.
Service was terrible as we had to wait over an hour due to a mix up with the tickets out the back BUT our waitress could not have been more apologetic or lovely.
Lovely restaurant fantastic views and really nice food with good friendly service would recommend to anyone !
Watersmeet Hotel is in a prime location, with outstanding views of the sea and coastline.
The dining area is not too large, in fact just the right size.
The service is professional and friendly.
The food is also first class and the there is a very good and varied menu.
All in all our party had a very enjoyable evening.
The bistro menu offered a varied choice of meals. The service was fantastic with just the right amount of attentiveness from the waiters.
OK and went there a second time, later in the week. This time the order was incorrect, comments remain somewhat pricey.
Lovely view, great food, great service!
Fabulous lunch at a stunning location. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance! We will be back!
Absolutely beautiful views, friendly service and great food. I have visited several times over the last year or so and intend to do so again whenever I am in the area.
We had lunch in the Bistro early in November. I can't praise it enough. The restaurant was smart and comfortable, the views absolutely outstanding, the food excellent and the waitress was so friendly. If we ever come back to the area, we would go there again. One of the highlights of our holiday.
Great food. Great service and good location. Will be visiting again.
Went to the Bistro for Sunday lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. Service was great and the views from The Watersmeet were fantastic. This hotel is lovely and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Das zugesagte Zimmer stand nicht zur Verfügung . E
I was disappointed that despite a table being booked, they hadn’t reserved one, after me complaining, they sad it was human error.
The chicken was very dry.
However, it’s a lovely place and setting with a great ambiance.
Excellent stay and meal at this hotel and restaurant (Bistro). Choice of dishes was delicious and well presented. The staff were attentive but not overbearing.
Great setting with beautiful views. Nice lounge area & bistro dining.
An evening meal to finish the holiday. The Bistro offered a good menu and was good value. Well done
Service was rushed (50 minutes for drink, starter and main course) and the food was of a poor standard given the price charged - e.g. the sea bass fish cake was clearly frozen and did not taste of either ginger or lime! We were very disappointed.
Amazing views. Limited food menu that is more suited to dinner than lunch. Definitely on the quieter of woolacombe away from the crowds.
The Bistro has a fabulous view over the bay. The staff were polite. The main courses were satisfactory the desserts delicious. I think it was little pricey. I also felt it lacked atmosphere. The Bistro is classed as child friendly but I could tell our children didn't feel too comfortable. I can't quite make out what was wrong but maybe it was just too quiet for them.
However, it was one of the adults birthday's and the hotel did present a little birthday tray with sweet treats which was a nice touch and appreciated - Thankyou.
Overall the atmosphere was somewhat lacking initially although this perked up once the restaurant filled up. The setting was very nice with beautiful see views. The staff were very nice and attentive. I thought the wines were somewhat pricey but overall it was a very nice experience and we would visit again.
Very disappointing. We had to chase for our drinks which arrived after we had finished a bland prawn starter. They actually brought us 2 starters when we had only ordered one and tried to charge us for both.
Mains were average and something you could knock up in 30 mins at home.
Service was brusk and no atmosphere in the Bistro.
Great views and could and should be a great place to eat but food and service need to be significantly improved.
The Bistro at Watersmeet Hotel is an ideal place for a summer lunch, especially sitting at a table on the Terrace. The view and ambience are fantastic.
The menu offers a really good selection of fresh and well cooked food, at very good prices considering the benefits of the hotel position. We visited on a Sunday and had roast beef - the meat, vegetables and Yorkshire Pudding all being just right. We did book an early table - hopefully the quality is maintained for later bookings.
The wine list is rather expensive, so we just had fruit juice and water. The dessert list looked good, but we were too full to be tempted.
The young serving staff were friendly, but not always attentive, probably would benefit from an experienced guiding hand.
Great location , good service perfect for wedding anniversary meal
Good value at a stunning location - would be churlish to fault anything as we had a lovely time yet it was missing something in terms of atmosphere - exceptionally quiet in Bistro and almost felt offensive to speak (but we did). Staff were very helpful and attentive.
Disappointing visit. Have had much better previous ones. Food ok. .nothing special. Service poor for an establishment such as the watersmeet
Great lunch meeting old friends. Lovely setting. Beautiful weather. Nice staff and very delicious lunch.
Brilliant service from the two ladies that served us: a Portuguese lady and a Romanian lady. Awesome work.
Having been to The Watersmeet a few times now we are never disappointed with the experience
Its probably a lovely hotel but my food was served lukewarm and inedible and had to be sent back. It took so long my husbands food went cold while we were still waiting so we left without eating main course.
Wonderful views out towards the sea.
Relaxed dining with amazing food.
I was very happy with the food and service I received.
However, I was shocked to be charged £27.80 for 2 x Kir Royales. This is more than they charge in The Ivy and other 5 star London restaurants!
Great food in a lovely location with friendly staff
Superb location, and quiet out of season. Restaurant quality food at reasonable prices in stunning location
Filet steak dish in the Bistro was raw inside. After speaking to the waiting staff they offered another main course or no charge for the steak dish
