Wherever you decide to sit in our hotel bistro restaurant you’ll have a spectacular view of the sandy beach, rolling surf, rugged North Devon coastline and Lundy Island. It’s west facing too, which means you can enjoy glorious sunsets over dinner.
We serve well cooked, classical English dishes with a few modern European influences thrown in for good measure. With the sea on one side and North Devon countryside on the other, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to high quality local ingredients. Our venison and lamb comes from Exmoor and our fish comes in fresh from Brixham.
The Bistro at Watersmeet Hotel is an ideal place for a summer lunch, especially sitting at a table on the Terrace. The view and ambience are fantastic.
The menu offers a really good selection of fresh and well cooked food, at very good prices considering the benefits of the hotel position. We visited on a Sunday and had roast beef - the meat, vegetables and Yorkshire Pudding all being just right. We did book an early table - hopefully the quality is maintained for later bookings.
The wine list is rather expensive, so we just had fruit juice and water. The dessert list looked good, but we were too full to be tempted.
The young serving staff were friendly, but not always attentive, probably would benefit from an experienced guiding hand.
Great location , good service perfect for wedding anniversary meal
Good value at a stunning location - would be churlish to fault anything as we had a lovely time yet it was missing something in terms of atmosphere - exceptionally quiet in Bistro and almost felt offensive to speak (but we did). Staff were very helpful and attentive.
Disappointing visit. Have had much better previous ones. Food ok. .nothing special. Service poor for an establishment such as the watersmeet
Great lunch meeting old friends. Lovely setting. Beautiful weather. Nice staff and very delicious lunch.
Brilliant service from the two ladies that served us: a Portuguese lady and a Romanian lady. Awesome work.
Having been to The Watersmeet a few times now we are never disappointed with the experience
Its probably a lovely hotel but my food was served lukewarm and inedible and had to be sent back. It took so long my husbands food went cold while we were still waiting so we left without eating main course.
Wonderful views out towards the sea.
Relaxed dining with amazing food.
I was very happy with the food and service I received.
However, I was shocked to be charged £27.80 for 2 x Kir Royales. This is more than they charge in The Ivy and other 5 star London restaurants!
Great food in a lovely location with friendly staff
Superb location, and quiet out of season. Restaurant quality food at reasonable prices in stunning location
Filet steak dish in the Bistro was raw inside. After speaking to the waiting staff they offered another main course or no charge for the steak dish
Excellent service, and with a smile, from the waiter.
Pate starter / salad would probably have been easier to eat and more tasty if not fridge cold.
Main course missing stated ingredient of asparagus. No response from kitchen on enquiry.
Expected a roast to be available on a Sunday or told otherwise on booking.
All in all, a nice meal but with room for improvement.
Great food, superb service, and amazing views. Will definitely be back.
We had a lovely meal on Christmas Eve, the staff very attentive and friendly, lovely food , log fires and pleasant background music
From start to finish a thoroughly professional service, the hotel deserves its 4 star rating, great staff, clean tidy and well cared for decor, obviously a good chef, the specials were simply brilliant, we ate in the bistro, it was like fine dining but with normal portions, wonderful flavours, you should not be disappointed whatever you chose, and the location is king
simply outstanding views, from the restaurant you can gaze across to Lundy (during the daytime when it is obviously light and not misty)
Limited menu, but very nice; attentive staff once in the dining room, nice wines.
Lovely spot with great views, but as a consequence very popular. Would recommend for the location.
We waited to be setted and shown to our table; sat in lovely chairs and a beaytiful room , the bistro. The waitress never offered to take our coats and we could not see coat hocks .the chairs where not suitable to hang coats on the back, so my coat got creased behind my back and my husband's placed on the floor. Ordered our meal which was lovely, except we had to wait 2o mins for drinks to arrive and how are you ment to eat a dessert without cutlerly! The residents on the table asked for their bill, and later when it arrived it was our bill, good job he reads thw bills! Then we where asked to pay the bill at reception, stood about as ni one there, then another member of staff said to pay at the bar. Does anyone have any idea in this place except the chef that produces very good food? Also whilst at the bar another resident came over and ordered 2 drinks which while we waited for half an hour they never got their drinks either!! I only hope the manager or owner take my comments seriosly as lical repeat business and wird of mouth go a long way. Good food terrible service.
Great Food, Great Service with impressive views...Will Return
Although we had also dined at Watersmeet Hotel two days before, this day commemorated exactly 50 years to the day since I started work. And this occasion was every bit as good as the previous one: a relaxed setting, good food at not extortionate prices, and good service. Able to retire to the cosy chairs with coffee, which served to encourage the after dinner nightcap !
Great service and a fantastic view combined with good food.
We had a very wobbly table to the point other guests were looking at the rattling wine in the cooler - it was apparently not possible to fix as the restaurant was full.
Steak was pretty awful, almost inedible. Kids' food ok.
Overall a disappointing evening albeit spectacular views.
Amazing view, food, service.
The waitress - sorry did not get her name ( I think she was Spanish) was a treasure - she was amazing.
Fantastic venue, great food and service. However drinks slightly pricy!
Lovely hotel/restaurant in a beautiful setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was top quality. Would go there again.
Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent Excellent
Fantastic location with exceptional views over the beach. Attentive service, food very good with fresh ingredients. Quite pricy, but lovely for a special occasion.
Disappointing pub style food.Puds great, mains not great.Lovely setting.
I booked a table @ the hotel some weeks prior to our stay @ the Hotel Tuesday 16th May. It was a meal booking for a special Birthday. I requested @ the time of booking a table @ the window with a sea view. On arrival @ the restaurant for a 1930 booking the table I had requested was not available. Considering I had requested the table several weeks previously and the occasion was a special Birthday for us this was very disappointing indeed. I did not make a fuss in the restaurant as my partner did not know of my request for a window table and I did not wish to cause embarrassment for her, my self and the other diners.
The food was delicious and very well presented. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Loved the setting and the food, the only thing that let the experience down was the coffee. Normally my colleagues and I would have 2 or 3 cups each .....it was very very bitter in taste.......one was more than enough, needs changing....apparently this problem has been brought to their attention before by other diners !! Perhaps the Owner(s) who's remit this comes under should sit and taste a black coffee for themselves !!
The location and views from the lounge and dining room are spectacular. The service and food were both of a very high standard. A very pleasant lunch on a dull autumn day.
We where staying in woolacombe for a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary , we decided to celebrate at the watersmeet as it was just below our accommodation. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful, our starter and main course where of good proportions and very tasty, we where a little disappointed with our sweet, which was the chefs recommendation.
Understated, elegant and modern decor. The food was delicious, reasonably priced with efficient and curtious service. Will definitely return on a sunnier day to really appreciate the beautiful sea view.
Whilst away in Woolacombe we took advantage of various types of establishment for evening meals. This was chosen for our upmarket night and it certainly lived up to expectations. A miserable evening outside so we did not get the full effect of the location, and a bit on the pricey side for what it was but otherwise excellent. The only complaint really would be that the steak was only okay, not great, otherwise all other food was excellent.
We have been to this hotel before for cream tea and loved it. We visit the resort regularly but have never been for evening meal. The view from the hotel is fantastic so we wanted to experience this. We ate at 20.30 and the restaurant was almost empty so felt a little flat. The food was nice but I think we could have got similar food elsewhere cheaper. The service was very good, friendly and efficient.
Fantastic setting on coast. Meal and service equally good. We will return again.
We dined in the Bistro for a 30th Brithday celebration - we had a great table overlooking the bay. Food was excellent, service was fantastic and we would definately return.
