This is an outstanding restaurant and I can't recommend it more highly. We were stunned to come across this in the Kings Cross area. The black cod and the beetroot salad were particularly well done. It also has a very good wine menu. Can't recommend it more highly!!!

Went here for my girlfriend's birthday. The food was fresh, authentic and overall amazing. The staff was friendly and was happy to clarify/explain about the dishes/drinks. I wanted to arrange a surprise cake and they were able to do that in a custom manner at very short notice.

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at Wazen to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We both love Japanese food and this is by far our favourite place in London. Service was great - as soon as we entered the restaurant and told the waiter that we are here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we were handed two glasses of prosecco on the house to celebrate. But for us, it was all about the food and the food was truly mouth watering. For starters, we shared a Wagyu beef tataki and grilled smoked chicken - the beef was top quality, melting in the mouth and the chicken was so tender and tasty. For mains, we shared a selection of sushi rolls, all very delicious, but for me the highlight was Time Machine, slow roasted pork belly in Tamagawa Time Machine sake. The pork was sweet, delicate, and so many layers of flavours, best ever. For dessert, we had mocha tiramisu with ice cream and fresh fruits, highly recommend. All dishes were not only tasty, authentic, but beautifully executed and presented with the most Japanese style of attention to detail. Price was very reasonable, costing about half the price of Roka with the best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan. Will be back! PS. they also do great value Lunch offers and the Bento boxes are must try.

Food was fantastic quality and good value for money. The ambience - the service, the look of the place, the crockery, the music etc - was exquisite, thoughtful and very authentic. I will certainly be going again.

Wazen is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The food is beautifully prepared and the service was amazing. When we went, the regular chef wasn't available so we had a limited choice of menu but everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I know when it is a proper Japanese restaurant when they serve matcha flavoured dessert that won't disappoint. I had matcha tiramisu which I could have eaten all day. It isn't a cheap place so it's not a place we would go often but would definitely consider bringing friends for a special meal.

The presentation was beautiful, the food was carefully prepared and everything tasted lovely. The service in particular was excellent - attentive but unassuming. we didn't have to wait for anything. The space is airy and a real oasis in the area. the cocktails were unusual and again beautifully prepared with attention to detail. This is definitely a find and would recommend this to friends (and have already done so!)

Quite unexpectedly, especially for the location, we were overwhelmed by the quality of food. Each dish was more delicious than the previous one. The food is beautifully presented and you can not only see the skill and care from the kitchen, but also taste it .
The portions are designed so that you order quite a few more dishes than you might anticipate, so that you can enjoy a broader selection. This place is very special.
The service is also very sweet.

A charming little restaurant near St Pancras Station. The food was of a high standard and beautifully presented by the most pleasant team of waitresses. If you are a dan of Asian food served in a relaxed environment, this is the place for you.

Outstanding on every level: stunning presentation, welcoming staff, amazing flavours, the chefs talent and passion clearly on display with every plate of food.
First we had the beetroot salad - which sounds uninspiring but was a revelation. Immaculately and delicately presented with tiny jewels of salmon roe and micro leaves it tasted like nothing we have experienced before.
Next we had deliciously tender smoked mackerel and a stunning plate of soft-shell crab delivered with incredible artistry.
Our main courses were sashimi and sushi that would rival any in Tokyo.
The service was just on the right side of formal without being stuffy and the smiles of the waiting staff testified that they enjoyed their work.
Paired with a divine Riesling the whole occasion was quite fantastic and completely at odds with what would normally be expected in this run-down little corner of Kings Cross.
While not cheap it is absolutely worth every penny and we can't wait to go again.

A wonderful Japanese restaurant. Excellent and fresh sashimi that was presented beautifully. The tempura was light and crispy. The chicken kakino-tane was perfectly seasoned and super crispy and came with a lovely salad. I found the miso soup exceptionally delicious, possibly the best I've had in London. The sushi was great, we had the California roll, cucumber roll and salmon roll.

The service was friendly and attentive. Can't think of a fault, aside from extremely heavy chairs. I would highly recommend Wazen, we will certainly be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

Having had no experience of ordering or eating Japanese food we left the choice up to the waiter to choose for us up to a given amount per head. His choice was perfect and each dish was explained to us.

The chopsticks were tricky but we managed. Overall it was a really lovely evening the only thing I would say is that it lacked a little atmosphere as it was a Tuesday night there were few people in.

Delicious, inventive food with clean flavours and aesthetically pleasing presentations. Tried lots of different starters, loved the squid, the ceviche, the black cod.. and the cold sake. Desserts show the chef is classically trained in French cuisine. Service was speedy and very welcoming. Surroundings are sadly quite bare, no ambiance to speak of, but if they moved...

From the outset we were struck by the chic minimalist decor, stylish glassware and visual presentation of the food going by. Each dish is prepared to order (be prepared to wait but it's well worth it) and cooked and garnished to perfection. My fried aubergine starter was light and melted in the mouth. Good choice for me as a veggie, and my partner loved his prawn tempura and mixed sushi platter

My son and I love sushi and this has to rank as one of the best we've tried especially for the mid range price. The attention to detail from the stylish bento boxes to the beautiful ceramic ware the pickles are presented in makes it feel special. My wife is vegetarian and found plenty on offer. The staff were very attentive, polite and went the extra mile to make a birthday occasion more memorable. My son had just turned 4 years old so it's good for kids too. We will definitely be returning soon.

An unassuming place, but without a doubt one of the finest and most authentic Japanese "izakaya" in London. Traditional recipes and more modern variations are all executed perfectly. The lunch bento boxes are also certainly the most elegant in London. A little gem.
