Food always delicious & a great place to catch up with friends over a chilled bottle of wine.
Fabulous meal enjoyed by our family would highly recommend, sadly we can only visit when we come home to Edinburgh but always top of our list as a favourite restaurant to dine at!
The staff were so welcoming & friendly, the food tasted amazing and it was a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Third time here, good as ever food and drink. Service very efficient!
Great service- nothing too much trouble for the lovely Kiwi waitress and Lucas the Polish waiter. Have already recommended The Whiski Rooms to friends. Really enjoyed our lunch.
Really good atmosphere, had the steak which was exceptional. Also the old fashioned was lovely and smooth.
Busy, attentive maitre-de. Shown to the best table as far as we could see in a cosy den at the back of the restaurant.
Uninspiring menu, but that was of no matter. Steak & ale pie, piping hot & tasty.
Haddock & chips with truffle oil & Parmesan utterly delicious. Batter crispy, chips crispy, what’s not to like. Washed down by 7 Girraffes IPA. This is how plain fair should be served. Recommended.
Our waitress Kim was brilliant, very friendly, informative and a very good laugh. Couldn't have asked for better evening
Had such a great lunch here on Saturday. I highly recommend the lamb cigars and haggis spring rolls for starters. The pie I had for my main was delicious. All four of us enjoyed our meal, our waiter was great. We will definitely return when we come back to Edinburgh .
Great place for any occasion. Good food and service.
We had a lovely afternoon. The food was really nice and the service was good.
David was friendly and helpful. Guided us through wonderful whiskey flights. And the food was amazing!
Very disappointing have been here over the last few years on a regular annual visit , booked a table for two over a month in advance and was given what had to be the worst one in the place next to the toilet stairs and the bar. Asked to be moved and given one in the middle of the restaurant If I had turned up ten minutes later for a walk in could havehad a decent seat . Will not be going back again over priced and very average.
A good casual dining experience. Relaxed, excellent service along with a well cooked meal made for a very enjoyable end to a long day of sightseeing. Would go again.
Great food beer a bit expensive(no real ale) but the service was first class
A good night out with friends, great place to catch up and enjoy good food together
Great service. The waiter was very understanding knowing that we were 3 very talkative ladies not concentrating much on the menu. The food was simple but excellent. I found it a little bit expensive but it's probably what you should expect in a trendy place in Edinburgh. I really liked the decor too, stylish and warm. All in all a very good experience.
Lovely atmosphere and great service. The views over Edinburgh are stunning.
Lovely venue and good value
Good spot for special occasion dining especially for whisky fans.
Had a lovely meal. We also had the whiskey they recommended with the courses. My pie was very salty but still tasty.
We came here for a late dinner at 9.30pm, but it was still really busy and plenty of other tables where just sitting down to eat too. The decor and ambience was welcoming with attentive waiter service (although this did trail off later on). We had two courses, the Chicken and Duck liver pate was a huge starter and the smoked salmon 3 ways was lovely. For mains I would recommend the Venison, it was tender and cooked to perfection. For an adult twist on a childhood favourite, the Lobster mac n' cheese was very enjoyable.
Fab food, fab servers, fab atmosphere! Loved it!! Food was exactly as per menu descriptions and was great portion sizes. Not a single complaint from our party!
Very good restaurant: great food and whiskey pairing advice, friendly service and nice decor.
Nice for a special occasion but very expensive, good food and lovely decor.
The food was good. I had a lobster pasta and my friend got a streak. The waiter was kind of rude at the beginning, my friend wanted some whisky (as it is the specialty of the place) with his meat and the waiter replied when we asked that he should have wine because wine goes with meat. A few minutes later he came back and gave us an amazing recommendation for whisky. We taught he wasn’t rude, just maybe a little weird. Portions are generous and they recommend whisky with some of the main dishes.
The food was nice, but for the price paid it wasn't good value. I had expected better. A great range of whiskys, but can get the same ones (or better) cheaper elsewhere.
An amazing meal for our daughters birthday. Great recommendations for the whiskey. Staff were lovely & knew their stuff! Will definitely go back.
Myself and my husband attended the Whiski rooms on 28th October for my husbands 60th birthday. Well what can I say, the ambiance was lovely, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. I had e mailed the restaurant a few weeks before, to ask if they could maybe do something to mark the occasion and they offered to write something on my husbands dessert.
We arrived at the restaurant early but our table was ready so we were seated straight away. We had a very pleasant and attentive waiter called David who made sure I was aware that they had done what was discussed. After 2 excellent courses, he brought out my husbands dessert with happy birthday written around it and wished him happy birthday... my husband was thrilled!! What a great end to a perfect meal and a perfect birthday weekend. We would certainly recommend this place it was fabulous.
Kooky little bar/restaurant with amazing food and an impressive collection of whiskey (as well as other drinks). Would certainly recommend and revisit.
Fabulous everything food atmosphere service big thumbs up
Wedding anniversary meal. After an excellent starter, everything else was just okay. Chargrilled steak too charred.
Very good ambiance, polite waiters and very good service. Good food, great whisky selection if that’s your thing, so you can’t go wrong here. Definitely to keep in mind when in Edinburgh!
Great restaurant, lovely atmosphere and excellent service. I can highly recommend
We had a blast but Lucasz gave us the worst suggestions for pubbing in Edinburgh.
Although this was our only Open Table reservation, we actually dined at the Whiski Rooms three evenings whilst visiting Edinburgh. The first evening, I ordered the Salmon Three Ways and Lamb in Phyllo to start. I found all three salmon preparations to be lacking in flavor, and mushy. The lamb mixture was supposed to include feta, which could not be seen nor tasted...very bland all round. For my main course, I ordered the venison, which was served with carrots and roasted potatoes in a jus...excellent preparation. The dark chocolate tart was a perfect dessert. On our second visit, I began with the Caesar salad and again the venison and chocolate tart...all excellent. On our third visit, I began with the charcuterie board, and again, the venison and chocolate tart. The board was delicious, however, the venison came covered in thick gravy vs the jus, and when I inquired as to why, our server said the chef must have made it thicker that day - very disappointing. Also, I ordered the chocolate tart again, and it came as milk chocolate, not dark, and was runny and warm. When I complained to another server, he took it away, and never asked if I wanted anything else. Would I reccomend this place, yes, but they could certainly brush-up on proper service and consistency of product.
Amazing as usual! One of my favourite gastro-pubs in Edinburgh. Thanks again!
Food was very good particularly the Venison and the shoulder of lamb.
The layout of our table made service awkward as food had to be passed across other diners which is not ideal. Drinks were expensive, even for a city restaurant, and we found the whiskey menu complicated and not user friendly. In fact we gave up after one glass and went to a local bar with a reasonable selection but at substantially lower prices. Great little restaurant for casual dining but you do pay for it being near the city centre.
Excellent food but slow service - felt we were forgotten about amongst large groups. Can't fault the food and decor though, excellent
Food was delicious and just what we wanted to celebrate our engagement. Thank you!
